There must be someway to expose the level of ignorance and self-delusion present in a person who can look at the events of the 20th century and still believe that a communist regime achieving the goals set out in Marx and Engel's 'Communist Manifesto' is possible.
Can someone summarise what are the best counter-arguments/rhetorical jabs to give in this situation?
Tell him to run it on a small scale as a test: get his fellow communists together, run a commune for at least two years, and if it works, he wins.
Jacob Wood
I always find it fun to dress up nazi party policies and test them on people: "hey, wouldn't it be great if the government had a scheme where they could be given a small amount of money a week for a car whose parts and labour were locally sourced, to help local small businesses an manufacturers?" or "Wouldn't it be cool if the government subsidies families,or companies had free holiday schemes for poorer families to get a break?"
Nolan Hughes
I've known communes run happily for ten years or more, m8. It's a great way for small groups to run. Just...shit for society.

admit they are correct, true communism has never been tried because true communism is impossible. "true" communism requires every single person everywhere in the world to voluntarily participate in the system, thus eliminating the need for a state. however here in reality there will always be dissenters. the more dissenters there are, the more oppressive the state must become, the more oppressive the state becomes the more dissenters there are. there is no way around this
Carson Cook
the best argument against communism is that it's never been tried in a country that Marx thought it SHOULD have started in. Every country that had a successful communist revolution either never had a bourgeois revolution, or it was within a couple years or even months of the communist revolution. Real communism has never been tried, because Marx's theory of history is wrong, and therefor real communism is impossible
Samuel Morales
Communism was tried with great success in the USSR.
Stalin literally did nothing wrong and you're a faggot.
Even if we assume every unfounded brainfart of yours is correct and Communism really did kill 100 million people in the past 100 years, it'd have a long way to go to catch up to capitalism, which reaches the same toll every 5 years.
Henry Ramirez
We have functional communism, it's called the family. It does not scale well.
Levi Gutierrez
The deaths which are used to claim that 100 million were killed by Communism are those classified under forced starvation or political assassinations.
Capitalist countries are responsible for a lot of stupid wars, but the moral equivalence you are drawing is retarded, Mr Miagi.

Nah, family is authoritarian in anything but the most cucked households. I guess small-scale communism would be friends living together. But no. No, it falls apart as soon as competition is added to the mix.

If this is allegorical to farmers dumping out milk, that was entirely due to the fact that the supply of milk had reached a point where it was flooding the market, lowering the price to the point where it costed more to ship and contain it than sell it.

Plenty of forms of government are very happy to take from each according to ability.
The issue is what's given back. Do we reward those of greater ability? Or force those of greater ability to the same level of reward as those of lesser ability?
The answer is clear, depending on who you are. Those of lesser ability are fine with this, because they lose nothing. Those of greater ability grumble because they lose out.

Nice trips, Satan.
That being said, we don't simply award people based on how difficult their job is, but how valuable their work is. Being a celebrity is easy as fuck compared to teaching and soldiering. Even doctors, who have it roughest of all next to the soldiers, only make in a lifetime what a celebrity will make in a year. However, this is fair and just because celebrities have their value based on their opinions and name brand. The thing separating a Kim Kardashian from Jane down the lane is that people recognize Kim and want to be like her/make fun of her/fuck her, so she becomes an icon.
Communists are inherently iconoclastic, though.
Mason Green

>Nice trips, Satan. fuck. didn't even notice.
>we don't simply award people based on how difficult their job is, but how valuable their work is
That's true. But we could, in some way, say that being a celebrity is difficult. I could argue it based on loss of privacy and pressure to remain on top or whatever, but I see what you mean.
Ironically, I think that if communism were ever successfully forced, it would be the celebrities that ended it. They're in their position because they're popular, and too egotistical to accept lesser money for what they do. I am now wondering just how many celebrities and popular figures that communist regimes have had. Can't think of any, apart from the girl band that was sponsored by Kim Jong Un.
Zachary Long
You are mistaking capitalism with free market.

There are unsavory factors that come with being a celebrity, but you could argue that every job has its downside. Even porn acting isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I'll give you another proposition. Buy a dog. Train that dog. When the dog is grown up by dog standards, explain to it why communism is bad. You have a better chance of the dog understanding you than a communist ever conceiving why communism is bad.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_Spring sure thing... thats why they wanted to revert back to capitalism and big brother squashed them. czechoslovakia was the only country in the world to become communist through elections and not through revolution. The underlying premise of communism is the idea that you don't actually know what's best for you, but some super special commissar elites do know. By force if necessary (hint: it always is) they must impose what's best for you. The funny part is everyone who claims communism is good always assumes they'll be the ones saying what that 'best for you' is.
Luke Davis

I went to school with a girl who grew up in East Berlin. Her stories about life there were fucking haunting. Hey, communist swine, did the workers in the USSR owned their own means of production?
Levi Jones
I'd rather chase imaginary happiness for the rest of my life than to work a single second for a communist swine. I am so glad that in my factory work I will never encounter any of you inhuman filth. Probably because we are not the same class.
Funny, since when the communist swines are in charge the first sentence is similar - 'Now men, We must increase production or shoot you down'
Also funny, because when communist swines are in charge, the poor guy won't say 'I'll do anything for you to make little money', he will go straight to black market. Communist swine doesn't need to do any of that though, communist swine will just bring the rare goods back when he goes for a diplomatic mission to capitalist country.
