In Houston it's a double whammy of climate change causing more storms plus the fact that we're 6.5 million people sitting on a swamp, covering more and more of it with concrete each year. When I was a kid there used to be just swampy wetlands between Houston and Galveston. Now it's strip malls all the way. All the land that used to absorb water is now covered in concrete. Zero fucking planning. It's all about making a quick buck.
