Most people who move to Dubai for work end up as slaves. The company takes your passport. The police will arrest you if your boss asks. Contracts are routinely torn up.
Just make sure there are a LOT of Westerners already working at the company or that it's foreign owned.

Its a total party city despite its muslim theocracy. Porn is banned via ip and you dont let your woman or any type of girl get in a taxi after a certain time. There are stories of them being raped and left in the desert.
Theres alcohol stores in the middle of the dessert, you learn through connections, one is called barracuda, and you need a alcohol permit to buy it, even though every hotel basically serves it.
Every mall plays the prayer and they turn off all music when its playing.
And you get used to seeing the arab men in white and the women in black 5 feet behind the man.
Dubai is a capitalists wet dream, their buildings are basically built by pakistani slaves, they take away their passports and shove 30 in a single room and overwork them. During ramadan they cant even drink in the 50 celsius heat

Just because it's a beautiful city doesn't mean it has its cons. Don't be fooled user. If you got there for work and a fat check, yes take it. But watch out for yourself because they are incredibly strict. It's not NYC or Paris

Dubai is a dump, sure it looks nice in pictures but it's true character is a scummy, congested and paradoxically overly spread out hellhole in the middle of the desert. There is nothing of interest there, all they have are tacky buildings and soulless shopping malls. Their oldest building is a 200 year old glorified camel shed that they are extremely proud of.

While those are interesting read, some of the stories mentioned there are common all over the third world, easiest example being a maid have her passport taken over and forced to work nonstop. Those are daily occurrence in SEA countries.
