What do Psych majors actually study?

They might be the most brainwashed people I ever met, and it doesn't matter what school they went to (unless they were taught by JP himself). What do they actually teach these people? If I sat in on the class would I actually learn anything?

There isn't even really a point in debating them anyways, they are so invested in believing what they do that as soon as you make them start to question things, they force feed themselves more propaganda to forget it.

This is like 95% of people with opinions on things user.
Most left leaning people aren't going to seriously try to understand right wing ideas

bullshit

I can never remember if this is AIDS Skrillex or Carl the Cuck. I wonder if this guy ever peruses social media and is tempted to take is own life.

I wouldn't know about that. I used to be fairly left-leaning in my teens and I can certainly understand why people would strive for such an end-game. However, my adult nazi brain says that it's just not feasible.

There are things you can do to unconsciously influence other people. That's the only thing worth studying.

My boss was a Psych major. Was also heavy Pro-Trump. Maybe the exception.

Yeah no most right leaning people evolved from left leaning people.

If you're still a socialist at 30 you have no brain."

the left is where all the racists are. You literally have to be racist to think title IX is not somehow racist/sexist. "Lets treat people different because we think they are inferior to us". fucking what!

This is incorrect, and was actually studied by Jonathan Haidt. The Right knows exactly what the Left believes and rejects it. The Left has no idea what the Right believes and is only aware that it is mean.

Development of children, stages of development, mental disorders, social I'll. In general psychology is the study of how the individual reacts to the world.

t. Trump voter and psychology major. You can use it to get a law enforcement job nowadays.

I did advanced grad degree in Polisci. The Polisci people are pretty brainwashed too. There is a token belief in using scientific method and statistical theory to analyse politics, but the default setting of everyone involved is this blind belief in the goodness of democracy and liberalism. They are the kind of people who crave living in cities and being a part of the mainstream media machine.

I could go into greater detail if you like, but I suggest any of you young wipper-snappers on Sup Forums avoid majoring in polisci and go to STEM or trade school instead.

interesting never thought of that before

I was a psych major, went to medical school, and now I'm a psychiatrist. It sucks because I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to my political views and I often have to sit in silence while my cohorts bash Trump and conservatives simply because I can't afford the professional implications of my conservative viewpoints.

And for the record, I decided to go into psychiatry because I do feel passionate about true mental health issues and treating them as is and not perpetuating them (i.e. transexualism). However, I did not research the political views of this field before committing.

I have a Psych major. What you learn is largely dependant on your interests, and there are many course offerings. I focused on physiological psych and neuroscience, but we had course options focused on social psych, clinical psychology, cognitive science, linguistics, educational psych, ect.

I'm not sure of your particular gripe, but if you were interested in taking an intro psych course you may find it more or less in line some of the stuff the JP talks about. But, my impressions are almost a decade old, so your mileage may vary.

Psychiatry is the political wing of the medical profession. They literally declared homosexuality not a mental illness because they didn't want to hurt some protesters' feelings.

I work around people who study psychology. You got to separate yourself from them. .

Brains are for jews

Can you provide a good source on transexualism?

Well it is a mental illness and I'm a psychiatrist saying that.

And I joined the profession because I've seen the effects that mental illnesses, particularly mood, psychotic, and anxiety disorders, can have on an individual and I know they are often underlooked? What am I to do?

I don't understand what you are asking. There is a disequilibrium between the mind and body, hence it is a mental illness...this is especially true for those who want to undergo sex reassignment therapy, such as vaginoplasty or even taking hormones.

If you want to keep your job, you can't provide homosexuals and transgenders with the medicine and therapy they need.

Meme major and profession.

Pretty much this. Studying psych as an undergrad has a variety of things you can study. Many people with just an undergrad degree in psych can be annoying because they think they can diagnose anyone. Once you get to grad school it gets better. Although I managed to redpill a class on mormonism when I was in undergrad.

Psych major here, evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology are real sciences, so is racial anthropology. Psychology should always provide more evidence and less feelings in its claims.
Women have fucked this field.
JBP is a great inspiration and so is Phillippe Rushton among others.

Hi

I will never treat or see a transgender if I cannot treat him with psych meds. If they want that, I just tell them it's an endocrinology issue.

The late J. Phillippe Rushton came to my school for a lecture when I was in medical school and it was protested by the African club at my school...it was truly embarrassing.

Man what brains he had, such an eloquent kind man. He should've lived many more years, terrible loss.

I agree...He was the first and only guest lecturer I've ever seen in person where I went out of my way afterwards to shake his hand. He wasn't racist at all and even basically said that Asians are superior to whites at academic level and yet everyone screamed "NAZI!" at him during the lecture (at a public university/academic institution mind you) without listening to what he had to say.

I seriously felt bad for him with that.

He deserves a statue somewhere when this nightmare ends, I won't forget him.

Likewise...I can assure you that there was not one racist point made during his entire lecture (and I was on the lookout because of the backlash--admittedly I didn't know TOO much about him before he gave it).

But, once again, as a conservative in a primary liberal field this is why I love this site--it's the only place I can go anywhere and speak my true opinions without risk major personal/professional ramifications. I could only imagine the backlash I would receive if I dared to even quote Rushton at an APA conference, for example. I hope you're right about the nightmare ending.
