Herman Munster on Ham Radio

youtube.com/watch?v=F-8RItOZE30

Seems all quiet to me.

yeah its not super common 1-2 messages an hour on average or so and most of those are just sound checks basically

WE GOT SOMETHING!!

i don't know if it was skyking but someone was reading numbers frequency was 6739

What does "Squelch" do?

Mutes the static until a carrier wave turns off the squelch.

I understand your guys enthusiasm, however you all realize that if something actually happened we would be notified right?

So basically it mutes until shit happens?

mutes the background static so you'll only hear sound above a certain decibel amount or something a.e when someone starts talking

Aah I see, thanks.

Yeah. Really weak signals might get muted, but the important signals will break in.

What frequency/khz or whatever all this is does the cool shit happen at?

>STOP SHITPOSTING IN WebSDR's CHATBOX, PEOPLE. YOU WILL GET BANNED FROM LISTENING.

Park on 6739 or 11175 Upper Sideband if want to listen for Skykings. (Be patient, really slow today.)

99.99% of everything on this is normal commercial and amateur radio signals.

>if something actually happened we wouldn't be notified right?

ftfy

" i'll take what is mass hysteria & panic for 500, Alex "

but yeah its not like we expect to actually get anything from listening other than interesting chatter like that Greece to Saudi Arabia flight that had diplomatic problems the other day or the pilot talking about his landing gear is fucked warning light

its basically just is there a abnormal amount of traffic going on today Mhmm thats neato relaxing type stuff

8992.00 kHz USB
11175.00 kHz USB
4724.00 kHz USB
6739.00 kHz USB
13200.00 kHz USB
15016.00 kHz USB

are the US Airforce message channels

8992 and 11175 are 24-hour. Lower ones are used for traffic at
night, higher ones in the day time. EAM can be simulcast on any
of these.

Is anyone else here just a shortwave listener?

I don't usually listen to Skykang messages, just international stations for news and music.

keep an eye on this thread, anons, keep bumpn all the important ones

usually just this or uvb-76

bumpd

So has anyone here heard a real Skyking yet?

Not since about 0200 EDT for me.

yeah tons, its assumed its all exercises or the equivalent of "everything is fine, over "

one from last night or the night before was literally just a 1 word message "Hunter" youtube.com/watch?v=0bFAbQT0jO8

>uvb-76
listening to uvb76 on the AM band @ 4625 kHz
>it's beeping

That what it do.

its been beeping since 1973 during the cold war people were pretty fucking convinced it was a dead man switch for something

bump

yeah reading up on it and the russian woodpecker, getting really /comfy/ here

yeah uvb-76 is dope used to be tons of /x/ threads about it

Hambro here, my advice is to buy a short wave radio which can receive SSB and run on batteries. Ideally it should have an external antenna connector as well.

I recommend the Sony ICF-SW7600GR, the last affordable made in Japan SW radio.

I'll be here to recommend radios to anybody who wants to buy one.

/x/ is ok as long as you don't tell them you came from Sup Forums hah, Sky kang threads are my fav ones for goofing off and quality time

>tfw I wanted to listen to The Mighty KBC on 9925 kHz tonight but the signal is shit.

Yeah I listen to the broadcast bands most days. Lately I've been starting the day with Radio France International at 0600UTC.

bah figured we'd hear abunch of test counts considering it was 00:00:00 zulu time 6mins ago was 5mins past the hour last time they did a bunch

Listening to some Christian programming on 5050 WWRB.

Just listen to 4625 and know that all is right with the world.

is the Baomeme UV-5R+ any good for fisrt radio?
