The diffrence between socialism an communism

hey Sup Forums can someone explain whats the diffrence between socialism and communism and why are they both hated so much

no

Not your personal google assistant

There is no difference.

The ideology has killed so many people it should be considered a cancer, yet people celebrate it.

Socialism is the base economic philosophy, communism is a form of government based on the socialist ideology.
Like capitalism in an economic philosophy, democracy is the system of government based on capitalism.

It depends on what context you're referring to.

Socialism in the Marxist sense is an intermediate stage in the process of achieving communism, revolving around a centralised, totalitarian state (dictatorship of the proletariat). Communism is the ideal, the goal of Marxist socialism. So far in history, it's more or less agreed that no country which has attempted communism has progressed beyond the socialist stage, which in practice has resembled authoritarian state capitalism more than anything Marx envisaged.

Perhaps one day communism could work, but until they actually find a way of properly implementing it (which doesn't result in hundreds of millions of deaths), there isn't much chance of it ever being anything more than a utopian ideal.

Democracy has noting to do with capitalism. Democracy is just a soft form of communism.
Democracy: We are all equal so we all get one vote.
Capitalism: We are not equal. Produce something or no one will care what you think.

socialism is communism trial edition

Communism: We are all equal so we all decide.

There is litterally no differance in philosophy between democracy and communism

socialism is the political system, communism is the utopia that is socialism's goal
socialism is hated because it's collectivist and communism is hated because it is heaven on earth and it's pretty childish to believe that this pile of shit that is humanity can achieve such a thing

Socialism = state control of economy
it is a sliding scale

You can have very little socialism, some socialism, or alot of socialism.

Communism is when the entire economy is socialized.

they're both the same as monarchy with varying degrees of permissible torture

>What's the difference
Communism is a form Utopian anarchy wherein all people receive to total product of their labour without having to pay rent to a capital owner for the use of the means of production (alternatively the rent is paid, but it's paid to the community as a whole rather than a capital owner)
Socialism really describes any system where the means of production is partially owned by the community
>Why are they both hated
Because ownership of capital equates to actual real power and the people who awn capital don't want it to be owned collectively

All communists are socialists, not all socialists are communists, some are Nazis

this is the actual answer

Socialism is the belief that the government can and should act on behalf of its representatives to direct capital, as opposed to markets. This is why socialist countries are shitholes, since the invisible hand is much better at directing resources than corrupt bureaucrats who end up accumulating power for themselves.

Communism is a socialist ideology that wants to achieve a "common ownership" (typically state/bureaucrat-managed) of anything of value with free gibmedats to everybody

They are the same.

No it's not. They are defined as two words for the same thing.

Nothing. They both fail when they run out of other people's money.

>can someone explain whats the diffrence between socialism and communism...

..and national socialism?

No difference.

Socialism can serve as a secondary value within a society, while communism is absolute. Socialism is laymans terms would be communism limited only to certain groups and/or situations.

socialism is evil, dont believe those nazi larpers

Communism is straight up slavery. It's when a small group of people in the government own everything and every citizen is their slave.
Socialism is more vague and more open to interpretation. Communists define socialism as just the transition to communism. A commie socialist's goal is to expand the socialist programs until they can transition to full on communism.
The most common understanding of socialism is that it is taxation and the tax money being used on social programs. The degree to how socialist a country is can vary. Taxation and healthcare are socialism. Some countries have more or less taxes, some countries have more state involvement in healthcare, others have less.

You have a cow. You bought it and paid for it. You get up early and milk it, take the cow to pasture, muck out the stall and then take the milk and sell it. You are saving to buy another cow.
This is capitalism.
In Socialism, you still bought, paid for, care for and do the work, but any milk that comes out of the cow belongs to others, including those who do no work.
In Communism, you still bought, paid for and care for the cow and do the work. But the cream on the top goes to the rulers, the rest belongs to everybody, and you might get a cup, until the rulers decides they feel like steak.

The what now?

They're both used by jews to get more money. If you fall for it, off yourself.

Socialism would be more like government coming in and taking half of the milk.
Under communism you wouldn't even buy a cow. You would be provided a cow to take care of and milk, and none of the milk, nothing would belong to you. You'd milk the cow and then starve to death, and if you dared to drink that milk you would get sent to a goolag.

Socialism inevitably ends up as communism.
