I have mixed feelings about Varg's views, some I condone, others I don't, but black metal Burzum is just objectively bad. I dig a few death metal bands, but the instrumentation of Burzum's music and the vocals are so sub-par.

I would say that most Burzum fans are attracted by the atmosphere from the albums. Instrumentation is really not that important in that context.
