>The Holocaust Museum Shouldn’t Have Cancelled Its Syria Study
If there’s one thing that should be clear to any American who is alive in the year 2017, it’s that there are profound limits to the United States’ ability to intervene, militarily or covertly, in other countries in a manner that is humane and productive. In fact, there’s a long, sorry track record of such interventions making bad situations much, much worse.
Because the Museum isn’t just interested in the Holocaust, but in the question of why atrocities occur and how to prevent them more broadly, it commissioned a study on the hotly controversial question of whether the Obama administration could have done more to prevent the murder of Syrian civilians at the hands of Bashar al-Assad.
But President Obama did not respond to militarily to the atrocity, nor did he aggressively arm opposition fighters hoping to topple Assad
>Many in his administration, including Kerry, aggressively lobbied him to take a harder line on Assad, but Obama refused to relent — in part because of how poorly he thought the recent Libya intervention and its aftermath had gone. “John, remember Vietnam?” Obama said to Kerry at one point, according to Goldberg.
>According to a publicity email sent by the Museum, the study was set to be launched at an event at the US Institute for Peace in Washington, D.C., on September 11 and was overseen by a former US intelligence and national security official under Obama, >Using computational modeling and game theory methods, as well as interviews with experts and policymakers, the report asserted that greater support for the anti-Assad rebels and US strikes on the Assad regime after the August 2013 Ghouta chemical weapons attack would not have reduced atrocities in the country, and might conceivably have contributed to them.
Instead, the claim is being suppressed altogether — the Museum is pulling is cancelling its planned released. That’s because when word of what the study found leaked, it caused a significant amount of outrage — outrage Tablet captures in the article, which rather heavily promotes the perspective of the study’s critics. The article’s author, Armin Rosen, quotes Leon Wieseltier as saying “Shame on the Holocaust Museum” for “releasing an allegedly scientific study that justifies bystanderism.” In typically colorful fashion, the former literary editor of the New Republic goes on to say: “If I had the time I would gin up a parody version of this that will give us the computational-modeling algorithmic counterfactual analysis of John J McCloy’s decision not to bomb the Auschwitz ovens in 1944. I’m sure we could concoct the fucking algorithms for that, too.” Abraham Foxman, head of the Anti-Defamation League, doesn’t like the study either. After expressing affection for the Holocaust museum as an institution, he told Rosen, “I just don’t think it’s appropriate for the Museum to issue this kind of judgement—that’s beyond its mandate. This should be a place where one meets to discuss, to debate, to question, to challenge: Could more have been done? Where? How? Not to issue judgment, especially not in this politicized atmosphere.” And according to Rosen, “Some Jewish communal leaders suggested both privately to Tablet, and in conversations with board members and staff at the Holocaust Museum, that the Museum’s moral authority had been hijacked for a partisan re-writing of recent history.”
>But the critics they’re saying it’s fundamentally wrong for an institution like the Holocaust Museum to suggest that American intervention in Syria likely wouldn’t have helped, and probably could have hurt. It’s “bystanderism,”
Sadly he won't. Kurds are retarded and even if they hypothetically would chimp out, Barzani would simply just call turkish tanks to kill them. But they don't because they can already chimp out without consequences and massacre assyrians and pillage their towns.

There isn't much to talk about, unless the Israeli plane got confirmed downed over Lebanon. Other than that, it's the same old. If s400 isn't a meme, Russia has been holding them, and the only reason I can think of is to not escalate with Israel while they're heavily committed elsewhere in the country.

Yes fucking bullshit . If the s400 is so good they should use it on the fucking kikes . They are not violating any laws , if anything it s jews violating international law
John Rogers
Has Assad fired the S-400 at all? I'm suspicious that NATO is waiting to take them out if used. Israel is probably actively trying to knock them out regardless, they're almost too valuable for Assad to risk by firing up their radars.
Joseph Bell
Even though i understand why Russia aren't shooting them down, they should shoot down the next plane to prove that S400 really works instead of just condemning attacks like cucks.

Arabs have no control of any s400 units I don't think. I think Russia sold them some s300 units, but I don't know where' they're deployed. And no, the s400 hasn't been fired in Syria yet.
Elijah Reyes
They're mobile
Clearly they don't work. It's a joke, it's just meant to frighten us off from launching a war on Russia. Now we know they are holding a fucking bluff.
Jeremiah Rivera
Why should Russia create an international shoah to protect a random Syrian factory? Assad has plenty of credit with them, but that's going a bit far. Get back to me when the IAF bombs a Russian facility with no response. Now, why hasn't Assad's s400 been heating up? That's the real question. IMO it's because the Russians made clear they wouldn't support him past that point.
Benjamin Long
Budin needs a really good excuse to shoot down a kike plane.
Xavier Stewart
> still buying the "Islamic FGM" story Please update that meme.

Of course they're mobile, so are missiles. They would be in the same situation as those Serbs who downed the F-117, only turning the radar on for 10 seconds at a time and constantly changing locations.
My mistake, it was Iran that ordered some S-400.
Evan Stewart
>random Syrian factory It wasn't a random factory. Israel had its eye on it since the start of the war. That factory produced the missiles that defeated Israel in 2006 and the factory that could have potentially gave Syria a bargaining chip at the table post-war.
They just crippled Assad. Russia went along with it, because in the end they want to federalise Syria and empower the Kurds to threaten Turkey and to please Israel (the only real power broker in the international sphere).
Nicholas Taylor
>Clearly they don't work Oh yes, russian AA doesn't work and F-117 was a undetectable stealth plane.

>My mistake, it was Iran that ordered some S-400. Iran never ordered the S-400. They ordered the S-300V2

F-117 was shot down by very old weapons and AA-guns which knocked out some of its radar paint. It was identified because it was being escorted.

>No single factory supplied that Hezbollah arsenal or the current one. I like how you think Hezbollah was the only one firing missiles at Israel in 2006. >kek you think the US and Russia are on the same side? I like how you think US and Russia exist as independent entities.
On the international sphere there is only Israel and China.
Josiah Brown
But FGM isn't a Muslim thing, it's a black African thing. There is no FGM in Muslim-majority Asian nations like Iran, Indonesia and so on. It was banned under penalty of death in Taliban Afghanistan. It's only exhaustively practiced in black Africa, from Christian Ethiopia to Muslim Gambia.
