wage doesn't mean much, especially in a fiat currency driven economy. it's what the wage buys that matters.
the fact that people still work for such low wages is a GOOD sign. It means products remain affordable for the poorest people.

Cuz they fired everyone

they also lost a huge chunk of jobs to the mid west revolving around servers

if people in america want a "living" wage they can move to a state with one. not sure how every one hasnt starved to death if they live in a state without a living wage. maybe one of the science guys can answer that enigma

That's a fantastic news you faggots! That means one thing and one thing only, those two aren't correlated at all!

Let's all rejoice, because you know what that means, right? We can now force them to higher the minimum wage even further! I'd say double it. What is the worst that could happen?!

So they did a 5-month survey which ENDED only a month after the first of several incremental changes (to $11, not all the way to $15) took effect - that change took place on April 1, 2015, and the study ended in May. It doesn't take into account any price changes after that date.

I googled the professor who authored the "study" and he's a left loonie who says Trump's wall will push food prices up by 20% if it happens.

Ironic.

Meanwhile, in reality:
>the average low-wage worker in the city lost $125 a month because of the hike in the minimum
washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/06/26/new-study-casts-doubt-on-whether-a-15-minimum-wage-really-helps-workers/

Article title is straight-up lying.
In the very same article: "raised prices 7%-9% because they rely so heavily on labor"
While not some huge crazy change, it still contradicts itself.

If you posted this, genuinely thinking it's working, you're retarded.

Once you raise national minimum wage and EVERYONE is being paid $15 an hour, ALL pricing will jump accordingly.

That's odd, quick question. How many restaurants closed?
Fact: according to washpo it increased the chance of a restaurant closing by 14%
Fact: the min wage hike is pushed by chain retailers because they can outspend their competition to continue to survive while independent companies are forced to close.
This is a scam by globalist companies to destroy local competition. Why do you think Starbucks is so pro left?

No but it has reduced the number of hours that people can work so they ended up with less.

So move to Seattle.

What's the problem?

Is it actually $15/hour everywhere? Pretty sure small businesses are still exempt. Isn't Seattle overpriced already?

Anyonr who claims it causes inflation doesnt understand basic micro, or macro for that matter. It does, however cause unemployment to rise. This is a realized effect as well as a theoretical one. Not to mention that it is a band aid fix to the labor surlus on entry level positions.

Living wage in 21st century America means a wage on which you can afford basic luxuries

It isn't like the 19th century where people might literally die in the streets without a good wage

>having a minimum wage
Commie tier

Pricing won't jump because businesses will simply hire illegals or deport jobs to circumvent the law.

>cost of wages rise
>can't pass on costs to customers due to cut throat market
>razor thin margins
>forgo hiring more people, expanding due to decreased profitability
>unemployment rate rises, future tax revenues fall due to lost business activity
>future business formation declines as business owners move to red states
>social services minimum wage workers rely on cannot be paid for
>city deficits increases
>property tax increase to meet gap, white flight
>crime increases as overall quality of life drops...

aka, literally every democrat run city

Bellevue here, so fucking bored and I don't have a job. what do?

Fun fact: one of the earliest examples of statistical inference (when basically the field didn't exist) was someone who painstakingly recorded the causes of death in England. He found out no one died of starvation. He concluded that beggars were obviously getting enough to survive, then, and instead of having beggars we should just have a tax to provide food for the poor, and thereby gain the social benefit of not having fucking beggars everywhere.

>Republicans and conservatives BTFO

I have supported a higher minimum wage my whole adult life user, because I'm not a stupid asshole tbqh. I do hate the Paul Ryan tier corporate bottom bitches who automatically side with big business. The dems are basically the same on other issues. It feels like there are no political solutions to anything at this point.

Like it's the one thing all of the schools of economics agrees on: increasing minimum wage increases unemployment. And in some cases, like right now, when unemployment is at an all-time low, we SHOULD be increasing the minimum wage, as a way to equalize both.

Spank the snake... yet AGAIN!

You almost had a point except Republican run shitholes are even worse

No and yes.

strip naked, put on some spandex and funky mask and kill nigger or two from a shadow, be a hero we don't deserve

only asians here m8

coming from the nation run by unions? lel

you're two steps away from full antifa socialism

>the fact that people still work for such low wages is a GOOD sign

It's shit like this that proves some of you have never had to deal with financial burdens and the despair that comes from that. And I'm not buying into the victim complex and all those libshit feels. This is really fucking over the nationalist agenda here and preventing it from gaining traction though. It's hard to believe in a society that longs for the day when a Milton Friedman tier, borderless, atomized, corporate ladder styled civ can be realized.

Stop listening to Ben Shapiro and neocons who talk and write books for shekels. The bullshit rhetoric is warping your minds.

You try explaining basic economics to 5th grade ledditors. You know, everypne bitches about "science" being miscontrued in politics when economics is the real thing being bastardized in politics. I'm willing to agree that wages should raise if we can agree that
1)The unemployment rate does not take into account the cycle of seasonal workers and discouraged workers
2)Immigration does not help the middle and working class at all

At least the government aren't deciding how much my labor is worth LMAO

Currently, over 60% of people make it into the top quintile in the US for over a year. Neolibs and neocons find this "problematic" and seek for a way to fully entrench the elites. They would be extremely happy to finally destroy economic mobility.

>don't improve yourself goy just work at McDonalds here's a "living wage", oh, us? We'll be the lawyers and CEOs don't worry
>don't worry about a good degree, do "what you love" we'll cover those loans goy, oh us? No, we'll be the lawyers and MBAs don't worry.

yeah because the unions decide it, which is the goal of socialism

is this in reference to something political because I definitely don't get it

Retail prices haven't risen because they can't get much higher. So, employers just start to rely on automation.

This is exactly what labor economists said would happen in Seatle.

You have chinks working at coffee shops now and you think thats successful? Whats next the jews flipping burgers?

>it already costs $14 for a cup of coffee in Seattle
not like they can jack up prices much more, but they can replace workers with robots and more illegal spics

fuck off retard
every Democrat run city EVERY SINGLE ONE is a shit hole on the verge of bankruptcy

What a surprise. They raised the min wage in az and everyone put prices up. Subway had a sign on the door saying they did it. STL raised it in the city I believe and lowered it down a few months later because it caused too many issues. It was stl count or city, not of all stl but a quick Google search will find the articles on it.

Did Kid Rock just make the best Political Speech Ever?

Average Alt-Right moron:
>DUDE, RAISING WAGES WILL HURT CEOS WHO EARN HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS EVERY YEAR LMAO

Go to the gym

Higher minimum wages triggers the Jews and the neocucks. It must be good for the working man.

/thread

>Whats next the jews flipping burgers?
Don't kid, jews never take productive roles, only facilitation roles.

Average left-wing moron:
>[RIDICULOUS STRAW MAN IN ALL CAPS THAT DOESN'T PUT FORTH ANY ARGUMENTS OR COUNTERS ANY ARGUMENTS MADE BY THE OPPOSITION]

.... Used to live in Seattle, had to move from Seattle about a year ago. Yeah, prices have been stable, they were raising in the periods before the minimum wage raised, to 'price in' the impact to the market. Impact was externalities to other areas, transfers of working class jobs with benefits to 'subcontract' third party providers who just do the minimum wage with no benefits, no employment security. Hire freezes, sub forty hour 'full time', etc, etc. Looking at prices in a vacuum here is just a height of economic dishonesty. The minimum wage hike has had negative impact for quality of life for the working poor, and working classes of Seattle, regardless the virtue signalling intentions of the middle class that were much further removed from its negative downstream consequences.

>vimeo.com/232845595
wow 1 year!!! And its not risen in Seattle but it has in NYC and everywhere else in the companies forced to raise minimum wage?

>>LEFTIST FAGGIT KYS

I'm not left wing :)

Well, good job on sinking to their level then.

That study the WA Post cites is a joke. They didn't include any businesses with multiple locations, which includes the majority of employees in the Seattle area who would have benefited from the wage hike.

>gummy worms in 2016: 10 dollars for 5 pounds, 12 on amazon
>gummy worms in 2017: 13 dollars for 5 pounds 17 dollars on amzon

really makes me think

Masturbation

Holy crap, that was better than I thought it would be.

It takes roughly 18 months to feel the effects of said inflation. This shit is like econ 101 come on.

kill yourself poorcuck i like the idea of having you struggling from paycheck to paycheck

lets make it $100 an hour then.

Now lets see all those businesses release their how much money they are losing.

>paying minimum wage

They are not losing money. You would have to be breaking stuff with a hammer to be losing your employer money at that wage level.

T. Man whose never run a business

Someone showed that prices have increased ages ago, either way you have no come back to the fact that by your logic there's no reason to not raise it to £1000 am hour

>Seattle raises minimum wage to full retard levels
>study shows low wage workers earned less overall as a result
>leftists deny the study and commission a new one from (((UC Berkeley)))
Liberalism is a joke.

>Someone showed that prices have increased ages ago

Prices are constantly going up almost everywhere. I don't think you know enough to be posting in this thread.
