race to the bottom.

Obviously. Anyone trying to pay the bills with such a 'job' is a lost cause anyways.

If stacking Big Macs and slinging coffee is the most you have to offer, you're going to be on welfare eventually anyhow.

No, because It'd end in a communist revolution.

I really, really, really like this image.

That's not how competitive markets work.

ha ha take it friend, it is yours

This. Welfare capitalism is the only thing holding society together.

epic username bro your mom make it for you?

As if that is relevant. If you know absolutely anything about history you know that either you beat the Communists down, or they will steal and break all your shit.

It's what they do. It's how they get paid. And they love it.

when you can't understand basic economics

One way to compete on the labor market is to lower your price relative to others. Another way to compete is to offer more. Why do you think most people in the work force make more than minimum wage?

Minimum wage laws were actually used to keep black people from getting jobs created in the booming economy in the 1920s that had been in the north in the 1930s with the Davis-Bacon Act. They were used during the Apartheid era to put black people on an equal playing field to make an excuse to hire more white workers. They were even contemplating using minimum wage laws to undermine working Chinese immigrants early in the 20th century. That explains why the unemployment rate for the black youth is high.

Also, working at McDonalds isn't supposed to be a career. It's supposed to help you save some money to get a career. It's a foundation.

Also, if the minimum wage increases, don't be surprised when you lose your job. Last year, when UC Berkely touted and got the minimum wage, they fired hundreds of staff.

In Seattle, local restaurants had to cut jobs because of the minimum wage increase.

Workers and clerks are being replaced with automatons and kiosks in states like California, Florida and others. At my local AMC theatre, they're used to be seven clerks printing out movie tickets for customers. Now, there's only one clerk for pre-ordered tickets, and the rest are kiosks that the customer can order on themselves.

So be careful what you wish for.

and then there's supply and demand. If you, say, halved the labor market by taking out women, wages would skyrocket.

this man knows

They wouldn't skyrocket relative to consumer prices, which would dramatically rise due to a free-fall in productivity.

No but we shouldn't ever increase it. Let inflation do its work.

>implying women do anything productive or do anything at all besides contributing to a hostile working environment

Hyperbole won't change reality.

This. The only people working minimum wage are youngsters or married women. Anyone else living off of minimum wage is lost to society.

All those poor seating planners :*(
