How can one NOT know how to drive? Especially these days, when you don't even need to shift gears

You can't drive if you can't shift gears.

Highways don't have safe spaces and you can't tweet and drive (you can but you die.)

because it's expensive as hell in bongland.

Depends where you live.

I live in London and there's no point in owning a car here.

Completely relative to the country, really.
Almost in all of Eastern Europe and other undeveloped countries automatics are somewhat rare and expensive, while in America you can use having a stick shift as an anti-theft tool.

I live in London as well, there is no point to own a car to commute to work however try going to the midlands or anywhere outside London sweetie, and you will understand why driving is a must have skill.

They're distracted, i saw a girl the other day putting on make-up while driving. I also see people on their phones a lot while driving. Don't pretend you old fucks are good drivers either though, i've seen you geezers do some pretty dumb shit.

>car costs several thousands
>maintenance costs
>fuel costs
>insurance costs
>traffic sucks
>increased risk of death from accident
>decreased health because of less workout

I cannot see why anyone would want to own a car.
If you occasionally need to go somewhere far there's trains and airplanes.

uber? shit economy?

They're spoiled and think someone else will get them to where they want to go.

>tiny European backwater
>playing travel on Easy Mode

...

i got a license at 18 just like everyone else i knew, but i've never actually bought a car. i went from borrowing my dad's car to using public transportation to cycling. cycling to work is incredibly satisfying, especially when i look at all those people stuck in traffic. might buy a car if i move out of the city though.

Millenials were captured at home and in life.
>everything unsafe
>let mom and dad drive you
>Calculus III with Analytic Geometry driving exam
>Even modern cars too hard for generation raised on made-to-win video games
>Porn, social life, all information in palm of hand
Better to stay at home.

This

Car ownership is a jewish scheme. If you can avoid it, you save a lot of money.

why would i spend 2000 euros and give up over 40 hours of my free time on a license when self driving cars are literally around the corner

Because driving emits carbon which contributes to climate change.

Which by millennial logic, means driving is racist or some shit.

Fuck, that describes me perfectly.

but i have driving license and know how to kill more people with my car that any stupid ahmed from germany but i'm sane and never gonna do it

Millennials don't even know what gender they are, please god keep them away from cars.

I still have a car license though, no harm in getting that.

When I traveled to the US for vacation I rented a car to avoid tourist spots and see the country.

But owning a car is just unreasonable.

yeah but you emit fart methane by sitting at your ass all the time which is worse

Gas is expensive, insurance for some reason is only going up over time, things are getting denser, public transit is getting better, car sharing is a thing now and is getting better.

I'm learning, trains in this country are absolutely third world tier, it's a fucking embarrassment. I will not rely on trains any more, plus my hobbies are starting to require a car with all the shit that needs hauling

A lot of millennials are raised by faggots so they're a sort of super-faggot breed with extra dumb sauce.

Yes I do, I identify as the Tsar bomba, and you will respect my pronouns or else I will call the police and have you arrested. (C-16 ftw!)

sounds like a good strategy for a small European country with urban concentration and lavish public transport.

You're joking right?

I'd prefer to avoid it, but I need it for work and public transportation in my area sucks. so there is no choice.

>ITT too many faggots that don't understand the joy of driving. Too busy sitting next to Jamal on the bus, being too beta/scared to tell him to move away because he fucking reeks like piss and BO.

Buy a second hand car then Paco, try to be more individualistic and less depending on your government to provide you with transport. No wonder why Spain is full of bad hombres (commies) sad!

Got my license recently. Some bumps in the road
>dad didn't want to teach me when 16
>car was always broke down
>he didnt work so never had money for gas
>didnt have the money or want to save for the fees for getting a learners permit
>"lol you could just ride the bus to school"
>"lol i could just drive you if need to go anywhere" but never go anywhere because of being poor to afford anything or him being too lazy to take me
>"lol you'd just wreck the car anyways. Im not paying for that/i aint going to die for it."
>"lol just do drivers ed at school." most schools in my area havent done driving classes in decades due to reduced funding
>cant get or use a permit without a relative or spouse to drive with you unless you pay for driving school
>drives ed cost money
>need money to buy a car/classes but cant drive to a job without a car
>city busses in most places only run for certain hours for certain routes
This went on for years. Graduated and got a factory job. Paid for a taxi for the first week with money I scraped together and began carpooling with a coworker until I could save enough to straighten my life out. Real shitty.

>ywn

m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox0v2HIJs2w

>the chore of driving
fixed that for you

nothing fun about a 2 hour commute where you can't do anything productive because you have to drive

Tell me why should I buy a car and get a license.
Public transportation is excellent and cheap where I live
>but what if you need to go to the next city
public transportation
>muh groceries
I support local stores by going to them
>muh heavy stuff I bought
most shops have home delivery

I am a proud Nazi, I want to protect my home, and not polute it with the toxic jew that came out of cars

/o/ simulator time: tell me I am retarded for wanting the BRZ even though you'll all talk about how great it is in 10 years

learning how to drive in israel is insanely difficult, because of the long wait times between tests. it can take as much as half a year to get another date for a test, and the only way to drive legally during that time is with an instructor, who takes approx. 50$ per lesson.

I failed the test 3 times, too retarded to drive :(

I've never met a person that didn't have a driver's license.

>be in punk band
>be only member that has driver's license and car (we're all in our mid-late 20s)
>le ride bikes meme
>le public transportation
>le leech off of others
>le mother earth
>oh, we've got another show, well looks like all the gear is going in your car because no one else has one

Car ownership is great and I wouldn't want to live in an area so crowded where public transportation became more convenient.

Insurance is, car ownership in itself is not.

You can. Only thing you will ruin by not knowing manual transmission is your own car. So it`s only reasonable to skip that part of exams.

That was comfy as fuck.
I want to drive now.

Because I have no friends and the only driving school in the area is $400.

God I fucking HATE living in LA. I need a car to do anything. everything is so fucking far away and its so fucking hot that walking is nearly impossible. can't even wipe my ass without having to get in my car and drive. what a fucking joke, urban sprawl is the worst thing to happen to society.

in the mornings it takes me 30 minutes to drive a what should be a 7 minute drive thanks to traffic, and even worse coming back. I need a motorcylce

I prefer public transportation because it's /comfy/ but got my license anyways.

Uhmmm because it's dangerous, loud it hurts the environment?
Honestly duuude, id way rather use uber so I can text my friends and post insta pics while getting chauffeured instead of wasting time doing it myself...
Also.. a car ain't cheap, yo! I somehow gotta afford my avocado toast haha
-sent from my iPhone from Starbucks wifi

In under a decade no one, save for the wealthy and people in low population areas, will be doing any driving.

Can't afford it + autism so I'm scared with no friends or anywhere to go anyways. I really should get one, I hate public transportation and I live in the desert but at 26 its looking pretty sad.

Exactly my thoughts

There is a direct proportionality between permavirginity and not owning a vehicle.

Keep these idiots off the road. They cant safely operate a can opener, much less a motor vehicle.

The social engineers and the pedophile vampire elite have convinced them they can get by on (((public transportation))) and that the need to drive is a thing of the past.

They have erased the tradition of looking forward to getting your drivers license on your 16th birthday because cars are expensive and you don't need your independence. It's all a great big mass delusion they've subliminally spoon fed to the worthless and weak (most people) in society.

Take some Super Male Vitality, learn how to drive, leave (((uber))) and (((the bus))) behind.

It blows my mind when I meet teenager's and 20-somethings who don't know how to drive

I'm 29 and got a farmer's permit (pretty much a full license) when I was 14 and have driven almost every day since then.

I get that you cancer most of your social needs met online, but how do you fuck the skank you met on tinder without a ride to her house? How do you get to the amusement park or wherever the fuck 'unique' places people go to take selfies and shit

Why don't milennials learn how to ride motorcycles?

LiveLeak scarred them shirtless of real life.

I'm 18 and have drive one of my parents old cars.
It's much better than public transport and more reliable than railways as the unions hold people to ransom by going on strikes and forcing the government to increase wages, which then means higher ticket costs for customers.
But many drivers are fucking crazy, and its quite stressful.

Neither of my children show any interest in driving. We do live in NYC -- but even still. I have two boys -- 16 and 23. Can't figure it out.

If you don't live in a city, and even then, you must own a car. I've spent a lot of time in Austria and Germany, I understand why you would feel this way. You don't need cars there.

In America, no car equals no job equals no life. I don't think people really appreciate how much it sucks to be an American who isn't making 100k/year

Well done. You are a good egg.

Because everyone is in a dick swinging contest to get the best uber rating.

Stuff like money, save the earth, diseal is bad, go electric, catch a bus etc.

I did not learn for well over a decade desu,
I eventually passed second time around and have enough money to buy a new car without having to worry about constant breakdowns and shit from second hand cars not too mention extra costs with it anyways.
You will always lose money with cars anyways, i get new and roll over costs with PCP and never bother to outright buy the car, looking at renting though that seems to be the next step that companies are looking at.

In canada you can just take the test in an automatic and still be able to drive a manual

They tell themselves they don't want add to pollution but the real reason is they are too anxious to drive.

I am 21, I do not have my driving license because I know I won't have the money to buy a car so I have zero motivation to get it.

Interstates on the east coast have text stops for people to do exactly that

Works in a postage-stamp-sized non country but not in North America. I drive 50km to work and back, bus service takes 2 hours so fuck all that shit.

We can't afford cars

because we're too busy riding horses and wearing cowboy hats and having saloon shoot outs in the wild wild west and making friends with cactus.

Driving is not joyful, it is necessary. I wish this were a shame-based ethnostate like Japan so I could catch the train instead without having to worry about subhumans.

>In canada you can just take the test in an automatic and still be able to drive a manual

I went from not needing a car and cycling to work daily to buying a second hand driving 14,000 miles in the last year.

There are too many cars and I wish I didn't have to drive, but that is the way the current infrastructure and economy is set up.

There are way too many cars in the UK. Driving to work or business meetings in the morning literally 95% of cars have one person in them.

Walking along the street to where I park I can barely breath cause of all the shit being pumped out by single occupancy diesel piles of debt on wheels being piloted by an overweight disfigured sack of shit.

The faster driverless electric cars come the standard the better.

This essentially. My uncle was killed by a distracted driver, fucking bitch was literally checking instagram while doing 80km.

I drove a friend home yesterday and she told me she couldn't drive because how easily she gets lost. She was 10 blocks from her house and needed Google maps to figure out where she was

I have my learners finally but no vechical or person to teach me to drive.

>be me
>take drivers course to get license
>fail the parallel park
>hit 3 cones
>run a red light at an intersection
>miss my turn so had to pull in driveway and turn around
>drivers ed instructor passed me anyway

>mfw

The infrastructure cannot handle the amount of cars now so how will it cope with electric cars and all the recharge points needed?

The grid will collaspe and not to mention the goverment would introduce a new rate for using electric to charge your car so you get another bill.

Best thing to do is to try and reduce the number of cars to begin with, public transport is pretty shit desu with rail fares going up for shitty service and buses not being around half the time, the alternatives to using a car are either expensive or useless or both.

Sorry for your loss. In these past few months i've seen at least a dozen half eaten vehicles from accidents, some looked pretty fatal. Just saw another on my way home today.

Got super lucky myself braking in time for some bitch deciding to turn last minute and slamming on her brakes..

Always seems to be the women. And men are given higher insurance rates? pft

Failed my test 3 times in the city I was living in for inane bullshit. Went to a neighbouring city, instructor commented on how much i remind her of her grandson, and passed with flying colors.

I've just got my first car at 24 after using public transport my whole life and I have to say it's extremely liberating and enjoyable.

OH LOOK ANOTHER MILLENNIAL THREAD! FUCK I LOVE THESE ALL DAY EVERY DAY!

I have a question for other countries, is it mandatory to take driving lessons to be able to take the test? In quebec a few month after I got my learner liscence, governement passed a law requiring you to take driving class to be able to take the exam. My friends told me it cost 1k to take those lessons now.

Aren't manual transmissions illegal in the U.S.?

>Calculus III with Analytic Geometry driving exam
What?

In US once you are over 18 you can pass the general-knowledge permit and practical exam in short-span without even taking driver's ed. Here in California the process to get a permit if you're over 18 is easy as fuck. You get 3 chances to pass it in the same day! Unbelievable!

I know how to drive but I never got a license because at the time that I would have been completing driver's ed and taking a driving test, my house had burned down and we were already dirt poor so we became homeless. Getting a driver's license wasn't really a priority for me. Now I live in a city where I don't need to drive.

Not to answer your first question, but I haven't heard of this mandatory lessons. Was that only Que prov. government issuing that? Cuz here in Ontario it isn't mandatory, but taking lessons will lower your insurance fees and you can take the test sooner. And it shouldn't be 1k, shop around, mine was 300$ for four weekend course

>Buy a second hand car then Paco
Implying we could afford first hand cars

In Quebec it is now indeed mandatory to complete a driver's ed class. I got my license before the rule change but it was an 8 month wait with the course and 12 months without, now it's 12 months regardless. Not sure how it would have affected insurance though I don't recall ever being asked if I'd done a course.
Car and motorcycle courses both around 1k each now. Insurance is cheaper in Quebec too.
>$450/year full coverage on my >10 year old shitbox

Because if I gave to go to the store id rather take my bike which can be ridden everywhere than a car I can only drive on the road. Not to mention nothing beats having winds blow through your hair and getting a good sweat on

>BEFORE OBTAINING A CLASS 5 LEARNER'S LICENCE

>You must:

>complete the 4 modules of Phase 1 of the driving course. Each module includes a 2-hour theory component given in the classroom and a self-study component to be completed on the Road Safety Education Program site

>pass the knowledge test given by your driving school covering the material studied

>pass the knowledge test given by your driving school covering the material studied

Look. It's the GM shill again. Fuck off.

I am a millennial. I and everyone I know who is of age has their license.
