There is certainly an argument that Germans are more open than others to the migrants and I think of Germans as a pendulum like nation (they either veer wildly to the left or to the right) but to say they don't fly flags or have no pride in tradition is ridiculous. I would point again to the fact that I live here and have no reason to lie about what I see. As a foreigner living here I can say that they are very proud of their traditions, do have a national identity (especially when it's sport related) and are not willing supplicants bending over in the streets applauding and kissing the shoes of migrants.
