Jesus Christ

Good point, under socialism the car never would have been built and instead of 180 people dying from their car exploding 180,000 would be starving to death.

Hmmm, system that's potentially corruptible versus one that doesn't work period. Tough call

So ford forced people to buy their cars after that? fucking monsters.

Sweet source you've got there, friend

Google is your friend, friend.

how the fuck did you not know about ford pintos? are you 15?

wew fucking lad. I can find sources that Ford knew of the flaw, but nothing that states Iacocca did the math and wagered on settlements as stated in your first post

>big corporations won't reveal their secrets on internet
Wow who could've guessed.

What an ansolute lad

We have been down this road before.
You are retarded.

>buys a shitty car
>omg why is this car so shitty

Because communist nations are renowned for the quality and safety of their products.

what is the literal cost of a human life in practical terms

Capitalism is okay only in a very narrow sense in which it is strictly regulated to prevent corporate industries from abusing things too much, workers and the common man from being disenfranchised or not having access to necessities like healthcare, and corporate entities from de facto controlling the government.

japanese cars are the only ones worth a damn

That's not rational. People blowing up in their cars massively damages their brand. -> less money

yeah right. sauce or gtfo

>Capitalism is only okay in the cases where it's actually socialism
Just come out and say you're a communist.

I'm more liberal than anyone here, and I'll freely admit that communism isn't the way. It's regulated capitalisms. It's taking away citizenship from corporations. It's holding those responsible for deaths like this legally responsible as opposed to financially responsible.

wrong, morons. The solution to this is just "punitive fraud" damages, not your retarded government strangling the market.

Ford made a calculated move, but it involved deceiving its consumers, who wouldn't have bought the car if they'd known of the fatal defect. That's all 9 elements of fraud.

You don't need 100,000,000,000,000 regulations. Just a fraud law (preferably with a clause for extra punitive damages for mass consumer deception), & prosecutor.

You don't need any regulations here. Just a fraud law. Ford deceived their consumers, who wouldn't've bought their cars if they'd known of the fatal defect. The case has all 9 elements of fraud.

Prosecute them for fraud, make them pay $1 Billion in damages to make an example of them, and then move on with life.

No federal regulations necessary.

This has been answered a long time ago

Based Milton

It's amazing how the injection of a modicum of rational thought makes liberals look so naked and retarded.

>socialism would've prevented this
You don't think that socialism wouldn't force everyone to cut every corner they could, right?

regulated capitalism is literally socialism. countries like the netherlands, germany and france use state capitalism

It's not real. OP is pulling shit out of his ass.

Milton Friedman is the reason manufacturing does not exist in the UK and USA today. He is the reason so many people are out of work and was a proponent of mass migration to shore up cheap labor.

Also his answer to the man's question is baffling. "What if it cost a million dollars per person!?" but it doesn't, it cost 13 dollars per car to fix an issue that could put peoples lives at risk. In addition it supposes that people have the financial mobility to choose which car they want to drive when at times people don't have a choice of which car they want to buy and simply have to go for the cheapest.

I think his answer was somewhat disarming but not entirely honest. It's a "what if" argument on the principle of Ford doing this rather than an analyzing of the actual situation.

Don't hero worship Milton Friedman. He may have been an enemy of liberals but that does not make him a friend of homogenous and financially moral nations.

> Not banning private property
Oh look it's an ancap
Your definitions/ideas of both capitalism and socialism are retarded

Daily reminder that it's impossible to prevent corporations controlling the government. You can only reduce government power so that there is nothing to control.

There are degrees of control though, for example, it's probably hard to deny that business and corporate interests exert more control over American policy than, say, French or Swedish policy.

Do France and Sweden really look like countries where the people get to decide what happens?
