>Spent thousands on anime and manga as a teen >Blew most of the money I made mowing lawns >My entire collection is worth like $300 now >I don't really care for anime and manga any more
I think I'll just haul the entire thing to a used book store or a comic shop and be done with it. What say you Sup Forums?
Brayden Bailey
>buying faggoty manga you won't grow into adulthood and still like
Camden Jackson
Becoming a normalfag, it just proves you never embraced a future with your love of Anime. Burn in a fire and suck a dick, your indecisive ass for a life choice is a good indicator you'll never marry.
Aaron Ward
>Thousands = $300 >Entire collection $300 What? Did you get conned as a kid? How did you earn so little in your entire teen years? What the fuck are you getting paid in pennies? What did you spend all that money on? I bought the entire collection of Battle Angel Alita, and I would make 4x the money from selling it since the early volumes are out of print. What the fuck did you invest in?
And I doubt you really cared enough to start with, go and find a new hobby like gardening or something.
Asher Flores
did you get into buying anime/manga when it was hardly available on the internet?
Andrew King
I know right, why is this faggot crying when he never invested properly. I'm not even at Hardcore otaku level but I've buy fagged figures that will at least set me on even if I ever sell.
This guy was just a fake, it's also one of the more affordable hobbies to maintain your interest. Society is just slapping its dick on his face and his beta ass is spreading.
Enjoy what you want, if you lost the feeling then take your losses and go. No one gives a shit or pity for retards.
Adrian White

>have 5-6 small boxes chock full of manga >no idea what to do with it >takes up space and I haven't bought any in a very long time Wish I could sell it but I doubt much of it is worth anything and I don't think I'd make any return if I sell off a volume or two here and there on the internet.
Eli Martin
Just send it to a recycle center, senpai
Leo Adams
>Not viewing everything as an investment Stay poor, pleb.
Nolan Nguyen
Haul them to a used bookstore and get some righteous bucks my man
You may get a crisp new Lincoln
Jaxson Diaz
it depends, i was able to profit from selling some of mine
Jonathan Cooper
that kinda takes the fun out of consuming content you've bought out of hard-earned cash

Donate them to your local library if they're not porn
Nathaniel Foster
>be a teen >spend thousands of GBs on downloading anime and manga >spent no money
Pretty solid investment I made
Eli Stewart
>Borrowed my roommates truck and hauled an entire pickup bed full of manga to the used bookstore >"Excuse me sir I would like to sell some manga" >He spends 3 hours going through all of it >Sorry, these just aren't worth anything but I've got a dumpster out back you can throw them in
Samuel Gray
too bad local libraries are becoming few and far between thanks to private developers

You invest time to read it, you invest money that requires time to earn it. You invest to get something back, mainly enjoyment, but in worst case, get back the cost, in a more ideal case, you earn more than you put in. So yeah, investment sound quite true. >Buying series that are mass printed in millions or not desired enough to earn some kind of rare status Blame yourself. Looks nice on the shelves kiddo. Or do you fill all the rows with family photos and flower pots? Burn it. What have you got? The usual Ranma and Bleach?

People also use shelves for novels, bigraphies and non-fiction works too as well as some choice films

>The usual Ranma and Bleach? Neither of those, actually. I should make a list at some point. I had one but that was several years ago. I've got a scattering of all kinds of random shit like first ~8 volumes of Claymore, 8-10 of Beet the Vandel Buster, 7 of Negima, some YYH, all of Death Note (kind of proud of myself for following it from the very start with release of first volume waaay before the bandwagon ever began), a 4-volume series called Warriors of Tao, couple volumes of The Young Magician (which reeked of subtle yaoi after I bought and read it), and hundreds of individual other volumes. I don't remember how many actual series I was trying to keep up with but I know I had somewhere between 300-500 individual volumes, maybe more.
Luke Rogers
depends. have you been looking for one piece for over 500 chapters/episodes but still haven't found it?
Owen Murphy
Why? If you are poor, pirate, if you got money buy. Nothing wrong with doing one or both.

The only market that really matters is the Japanese market

Thank dog I didn't fall for this meme. I was sorely pressed with some of the figmas tho...
Henry Anderson
As far as shelves are concerned they're the most pleasing-to-the-eye way of storing belongings
Mason Turner
Oh I'm sure. I don't think I have anything ~collectible~ or worth much more than your average volume price.
Jeremiah Brown
You ca always save it for when you get a kid and give it to him/her, unless you're poor and need money that bad.
Luis Scott
also it helps keep the living space organized.
Luis Young
unless of course it's not somthing you wnat your kids to see or judge you for
Kevin Clark
I didn't have a shitty capped internet when I was a teen so it was fine
Nolan Ortiz
What? If you just want to store, get a cabinet, or those IKEA plastic boxes. I got my shelves to show off, stroking my materialist penis.
Xavier Miller
I only buy the stuff I really, really enjoy and can watch over and over again. I want to buy Haruhi but I'm not interested in selling my left testicle for it on Blu Ray. I've got TWGOK, Spice and Wolf, Cowboy Bebop and stuff.
Jose Flores
yeah but people would also want to access these things and not put them into storage, people like the reassurance of the current things they're interested in on display. Part of it is peace of mind. Sure, people put things on display out of a sense of pride but that's a pretty normal way of personalising living space.
Ayden Scott
Good taste. Except Haruhi.
Caleb Carter
At least you can prevent your next of kin from making the same mistake
kek
mfw I bought a lot of manga and anime and was too embarassed to give/sell it away so I just trashed it.

I'd rather sell it my man.

When I first mentioned investment, it was financial as well as time & energy. If you don't think of the 2nd definition automatically you aren't living your life correctly, or with focus at least.
You will grow old and regret eventually if you never feel in the moment the hobby you are pursuing is something you enjoy and is worth it.
More than half my life has been surrounded by anime interests, and at times I've felt regret, but in this moment I've come to terms with it all and am happy with what I have.
Like what people have been saying and I've mentioned, this hobby can only cost the amount of a net connection when done frugally.
If you are ashamed of your interests because other people don't understand, you shouldn't let them bother you in the first place.
If you have intrinsic relationships that can't work because of anime, you haven't put enough effort in pacifying their concern into a resolution, or manoeuvred yourself in a favourable situation.
Also people are retarded as fuck, you're a man and you can chose how you live your life, even listlessly or slovenly, as long as you don't regret and whine about the repercussions.
People come to Sup Forums to discuss with like minded people, there are many normalfags with a passing interest or warriors that grew up with it but had to drop due to RL stuff, either way don't come here to whine like a bitch, that's a taste of what Sup Forums use to be like. We got /r9k/ for shit like this, mods aren't doing their jobs again the insufferable cunts.

You're small-time, go to the buyfag to get laughed at. Your puny collection is nothing.
