Would you be more apt to have children if you could genetically engineer them to your desires? If taking out the whole randomness of casting your genes into the future was gone, just think what we could do...

I really liked that show.

Hell no.

Now everyone (well 99.999%) are incredibly thrilled when their children are born.

Doing shit like "designing" them only opens it up to disappointment when the poor kid isn't exactly as they "designed." Disgusting idea.

DS9 was still better than Babylon 5 though.

Best trek by a mile even with the sisko 'muh racism' episodes.

It would be great if you could trust the people doing the editing.

Government and/or controlling elites would probably try to jack us over, just like how Monsanto is doing with our food.

Yea the racism stuff seemed retarded and out of place in DS9. For Sisko to get mad over segregation that far in the future would be like me getting mad at the Mongols for attacking Eastern Europe.

Is that a neosapien?

That episode where he was a sci-fi writer in the '50s was straight up retarded. DS9 kicked a ton of ass though.

WAS a neosapien. I thought it appropriate and related. Glad someone picked up on it.

I've always been in love with the idea of genetic engineering and taking control over reproduction, but realistically the government would probably turn us into a slave race or make us sterile in order to more speedily replace us with 3rd wordlers.

Yes. I liked DS9 because it showed the Federation at war, whereas in the other series the mostly averted wars before they happened.

On the other hand, I didn't appreciate how they pushed gay and trans.

They were built to be slaves , I'm more in thinking your kid won't have MS or another disease.
It seems for most ppl it's way in building nazi supermen and how it should be banned from the start.

I think it's a bit much to say DS9 was pushing trans.

No it wasn't.
John Sheridan was ten times the awesome of Ben Sisko.

I honestly don't remember any gay or trans stuff. I'd assume it was purely coincidental. This was aired 25 years ago.

I couldn't get over the guy with the russian accent and fanned out hair.

There was one seen I remember where Dax kissed another trill woman, and I you probably could stretch the Trill/symbiote thing to have to do with trans shit if you're desperate to find something to complain about.

I remember that now, she was kissing her wife from a previous host body or something. Lost a lot of loads to Terry Farrell back in the day.

...

i love star trek

Shit I forgot about that too. Ezri was pretty cute.
There was a show called 'The Captains' and Avery Brooks came across as incredibly retarded. He plays a good Captain though. We all know (((who))) wrote those episodes.

I would do that for sure. I have shit I've inherited from my dad and other shit I've inherited from my mum that I would definitely want to edit out of a potential baby. If it weren't for the fact I can't get a girl to look at me twice anyway, I would be really fucking hesitant to have kids. If I had a daughter, she's basically guaranteed to be infertile like my sister is.

This sort of thing should take precedence over cosmetics.

>not liking Londo
Londo was one of the best characters in the show.
Him and G'kar make a great duo.

The way the guy looks, with the fanned out hair, is literally the only reason I've never bothered to watch Babylon 5. I'm a huge ST fan though.

Sup pink skins

I'd be more apt to have children if the only girl I ever actually loved or cared about didn't run away across the country to get away from her shitty home life and cut contact for good. Aside from that, why would I want to have children anyway? Why raise children in a world I barely even want to be in myself? The only reason I want to stay alive is out of an obligation to myself and my family to do the best I can to avoid their disappointment and my disappointment in myself and the hope that one day I'll find where I can best serve God and maybe hopefully end up in God's wonderful kingdom. I don't want to subject a child to the world we have right now.

I've been meaning to watch it since the early '90s. I'm going to have to binge it this fall some time.

probably. having to take care of some little maniac for 20+ years is the stuff of nightmares.

See that show had the potential to be the best one. Unfortunately people hat Trek fatigue and it petered out before it reached it's full 7 season potential.

Yea, most idiots want to ban it from the go because they are afraid of a "Nazi" super race being created. But, if their worst fear were really true then everyone would have the option of making kids like that, even Nigerians (and most would), so in the end it would actually solve a lot of race problems. Also, leftists are always saying that they want everyone to blur into a monolithic race, so I don't see the sense in their squawking.

Not a nazbol, just saying.

Now I'm sure that they would make a slave race. They would deliberately create a gap between the ruling class and the ruled. They probably wouldn't stop with just making us dumber and giving us shorter life-spans, but maybe even throw in a drug dependency as well. I'm not sure laws against genetic engineering would stop the government from going forward with whatever evil plans they want to enact.

Being fruitful and multiplying was the first command from God. It just seems that you're selfish and maybe lazy as well.

It really did start getting a nice rhythm to it near the end. I hate how every show I like gets cancelled. Statgate Universe was just getting good when they canceled abruptly at the end of the second season.

Selfish, maybe. Lazy, no, I work 60-70 hours per week. I don't know, I've not been able to "feel" it for anyone after that. Had a bretty gud white waifu after her but I never really felt it for her and didn't want to commit I guess. Maybe I'm a selfish fucker but I still don't want a kid right now.

DS( was the worst star trek out of all of them. Muh messiah sisko. Muh SJW jake. Muh Tranny quark. Muh facial reconstruction cardassians. Muh gender bender dax. And that bajoran commander with the lesbo hair made the show incredibly unappealing. Who wants to see a bunch of space men stuck in a space complex anyways? The show was called star trek. Not Space Station.

I can't remember the name of the show, but there was a Rodenberry show on UPN in the late 90s that had a character named Boone, with aliens who came to earth peacefully with ulterior motives? It was the same way, just started getting good and got cancelled.

So what was your favorite one? I'd go DS9-Enterprise-Voyager-TNG-TOS. TNG is just too dated these days.
>Interesting captcha

I watched that episode last night - it's the price we pay for not having the Eugenics Wars.

That stuff with Dr Bashir is another reminder of the evils of socialism. The Federation banned genetically modified children from joining starfleet or even having a medical licence or most jobs.
In other words children were punished for their parents crimes against "equality" and for being too "privileged".

Earth: Final Conflict

To be fair, in the lore it was because of the Eugenics Wars and Singh.
That's the one! I used to watch that every week with my parents. As I remember it was about as cheesy as Hercules and the like, but it was a good story. I think I went off to college during the last season. Did the aliens ever get outed for being assholes?
