Is Initial D any good? /o/ says it is but they have shit taste in cars so I don't trust their anime taste.

Every board on Sup Forums has shit taste in what ever it's about
seriously though like every single character is a too realistically stupid teenager.
it's formulaic as fuck
cringeworthy as hell
amazing all the same
according to everyone
It's somehow simultaneously shit in many ways, but also one of the most enjoyable series out there. You'll probably be hooked within a few episodes, it's just hype as fuck and I don't even like cars (my friend who does loved it even more than I did when I showed him it).
Only the first few stages are really worth watching though.
I like how you try to fit the "only the beginning is good" meme but can't even say what seasons are worth it and just stick to "a few"
It's not like there's a hard line where it stops being good, it's just that over time it started feeling repetitive and less exciting. My enjoyment started going downhill at stage 4 I suppose.
Music is good
art is awful
CG sucks
characters are boring as hell
cast isn't very good
story is unspectacular
It's still awesome though and you should definitely watch it.
I started watching it recently and the pacing is really slow so far. But I guess that's to be expected from an overhyped 90's show set in a small town.
It feels like a more laid-back Fast & Furious with a couple half-minute drift beat sequences sprinkled throughout. And of course, dumb motorheads going muh car is 2hayai4u gets old after just a couple of episodes.
I don't think I'll ever get people saying to watch it.
eh never been to /o/ for any reasonable time
my liking for cars kind of died in ~2000, sort of what i think happened to elevens too
do i have shit taste?
if you are a male and have an ounce of testosterone in your body, you will enjoy it. if you don't give the first fuck about cars, you will gain an interest in them afterwards
If Grave of the Fireflies is the best movie no one watches twice, Initial D is the worst show everyone watches forever
READE, READY, READY - STEADY
NO ONE SLEEP IN TOKYO
The Eurobeat itself makes it worth watching for non-car enthusiasts. However, if you can't stand the usual exaggerated stuffs in anime and manga, maybe you'll get a bit annoyed.
The only major problem I had when I watched it, is probably the shitty 480p subs/encodes. I downloaded it from Nyaa.

But Takumi was going downhill from the beginning.
Be sure to watch first stage and not the shitty new movies
Even after some guy inserted eurobeat into them, they're still suck
Watch then after you're done with first stage

At least it ended.
I find hilarious that when Project D actually starts the story goes to shit.
I liked first stage and I don't even give a fuck about cars, drifting, eurobeat, or japanese teenagers.
>they have shit taste in cars
Are you a butthurt Amerifat? Enjoy your lolcantturn pigfat shit cars.
fuck you
Not if you don't like Eurobeat because, let's face it, it wouldn't be good without it.
Fourth Stage has FD vs. R34. I generally agree with your sentiment, though. Initial D is at it's most fun when it's a mundane underground street race thing, instead of 'big project dick' or something.
You'll love the music.
It inspired young me to learn to drive manual.
Overall I'd recommend.
The video. It's so much bullshit I love it.

>FD vs. R34
Not really a great race apart from that one move and God Foot being awesome and exploring one of the more intriguing ways in which some drivers stay in their "zone". Most of the ones from the early seasons are considerably better.

I marked so hard when in final stage Takumi went back to his roots of "if he can make that turn I can make it too."
I was getting pretty tired of Ryousuke's plans of the week.
They removed the eruobeat in the first stage movie remake. Into the trash it goes.jpeg
Its has an amazing OST
Initial D Legend 1 Eurobeat Edition - mega.nz
Initial D Legend 2 Eurobeat Edition - mega.nz
I've watched the first 3 stages which were sequentially getting better and better, but I heard they drop in quality after that. They were great though and I listen to Eurobeat all the time
Initial D is great. People hate on Fourth Stage for random reasons, but it has the best battles (being Godfoot vs. Keisuke, race 2 the greatest).
5th stage is all about Keisuke. His races are way better, except for the last race against Shinji.
>Fifth Stage
Fan service with cars instead of women.
Fourth Stage is probably the best.
It's a comfy anime, easy to watch, easy to understand and it has the eurobeats.
Alternatively
>We'll never get a prequel that shows Bunta running in the 80s.
Whilst Fifth Stage is generally regarded as being poor, what do we think of Final Stage?
Personally, I thought it was great. It reminded me of the multi-episode races that we saw in First Stage and the character development of not just Takumi but the opponent that came with it. The CG was also better and felt like they put more effort into it, rather than relying on teleporting and other rather strange movements that we saw in Fifth Stage.
