This is why it's hard for me to understand American Nationalism. Germans had much more history in Germany and had similar blood. America was colonized by the British and later other Europeans immigrated. The US is too big to have similar timezones, much less foster common culture.

This is clear from reading the granting of citizenship later in US history to many people around the Mediterranean from countries like Syria and Lebanon who applied for citizenship. In these days it would be totally unacceptable for these to be considered white but it happened in the US.
In a sense the problem of White Nationalists is this obsession with genealogy that is pathological.
