Good endings even when it's kind of dumb

>ed song starts during the episode

Oh, and psycho gays

Slapping or punching people to bring sense into them.

OP1 starts playing on the last episode.

>crows in winter, cicadas in summer
>that THONK bamboo pipe thing (forgot)
>onsen / bathhouse episode; none of that "let's go peep on the girls" nonsense, though
>beach episode
>pan to the sky, "Ehh?!"
>first ep: OP at end, no ED
>final ep: same
>character hums the OP, or it plays on the radio

Fake loli.

>cicadas can be heard whenever there's an outdoors scene
>neon lights in cities at night
>colourful as fuck flowers all over the place in Shoujo

>cute shota character does something adorably innocent
>teenage girl nosebleeds

A date episode

Cicdas aren't really a cliche though, if you're outside in a temperate climate it's usually loud as fuck with insects, especially at night.

I guess putting emphasis on them is a cliche.

>he thinks it's a "practice date"
>she thinks it's real

That's true. First time I watched EVA I thought that they were actually outside and not in the tv. Turned out to be both. That was very confusing.

>manzai
>other characters in the room falling over when a character does or says something really stupid
>character gets beat up by a tsundere for no reason and he exclaims, "NAZE BOKU DA!?"

>the boys trying to peek at the girls' onsen, only to be caught

>Good guy MC still finds the time of day to help out some unimportant loser

OP plays during the last major battle

>Bad guy is saying some chuuni shit to MC in the likes of "seems i can't go easy on you"
>Bad guy dashes forward
>Dissapears
>Hayai!
>MC triest to block the bad guy's hit coming from the back
>Bad guy yells Osoi!
>Bad guy strikes MC

>Giant attack
>Explosion/dust/smoke covers the screen
>No one could have possibly survived an attack like that!
>When it clears the villain is just standing there with minor injuries or totally fine

>studio thanks the audience overseas in the series ending credits

when does that ever happen

Season 1 theme plays in final battle

...

Everyone or almost everyone falling upside down when one character does something stupid.

>badass main character with a lot of flashbacks about his lover and why he became a badass

Some cheese lines about the guy being ok with flat chest if it it belongs to the love interest.

>friends turning into enemies
>enemies turning into friends

>girl hears it and gets mad
>insults or punches the guy
>blushes afterwards

>girl pretends to be a clumsy airhead but is actually a scheming, mischievous wench

Guy walks in while girl is naked/half naked
Girl challenges him in a duel
Girl is one of the strongest students in school
Guy wins or the duel ends with draw
Guy saves the girl.
Girl falls in love with the guy.

>it's chicada swarm year in my part of the country
Hoo boy

>girl airheadness is a facade of her true self
I'll always love you Minori.

>delinquent's pompadour is several feet long

>comic relief character turns out to be really strong

>confessional scene
>train passes by
>Eh nadatte?

Minori best girl.
Ami a shit.

Man, I eat that shit up.

Good one.

This is not a "shittiest cliches" thread.

>enemies can open doors

>tomboy character secretly likes girly stuff
>popular girly gal has secret otaku hobbies
>loser MC whose only strength is incredibly strong willpower
>lazy, lazy Sensei
>delinquent is actually the nicest person ever, they're just misunderstood because of rough look/personality
>"b-but we're both girls!"

MADA MADA.

I love that cliche.

>lively girl feels up shy girl's boobs in the locker room
>girl acts like an old pervert in general
>delinquent wears geta, has a rope for a belt and talks in kansai dialect

>delinquent is actually the nicest person ever, they're just misunderstood because of rough look/personality

The ones I think of of the top of my hat are Toradora and that shitty OVA with the chunni who said the MC was a king.
Both did this delinquent is nice thing terribly.
What anime did it right?
Ippo maybe?

>there's no opening to indicate shit is going down this episode

As for actual in-story cliches
>butt monkey gets his serious scene or episode that is not played for laughs later

>character that has his eyes closed all the time opens them

none

Someone should edit that so the falling dollars have laughing Lupin faces on them

>dollars

>long-forgotten plot points are now relevant in the final fight

>MC and Group beats up some Villian
>The true antagonist shows up
>Whoops their ass in 5 seconds without even trying
>Bonus points even he actually kills one of the good guys
>Negative points if he let's them live because omoshiroi

I haven't watched Lupin in forever I don't remember if the episode takes place in Japan or not.

There, banknotes, are you happy?

>MC's hyped-as-hell overpowered weapon backfires/is destroyed
>It's up to the MC's creativity and ingenuity to win

>OP changes over time

Tomboyish girls.

>OP updates

>fatherly/motherly mentor does good
>Normal human can punch through walls and be a badass.
>cybernetic enhancements that make you stronger
>losing all hope, when help suddenly arrives and the MC kicks ass.

Self-sacrifice, but only when done right. far too many times is treated lightly, which completely ruins the purpose
also
>Character keeps fighting even after receiving several serious wounds that actually reduce his capacities

This one. Man when I heard the OP start I knew it was gonna be cool.

Don't watch if you intend to watch Jojo any time soon.

running girl toast

Now that's some really shitty gif you have there.

>there's a rival MC fought against and either barely lost to or barely beat
>MC goes through big training arc
>comes back and absolutely annihilates the rival like it was nothing
Always gets my blood pumping

That's always great

What is Moomintroll doing in that gif?

post better wanker

>main characters dance in the ED

>apparent generic background character that turns out to be important later on, maybe even becoming part of the main cast
>mooks are competent and pose a constant threat throughout the entire show as they aren't BTFO in one hit

>Female teacher who still isn't married
>Tall misunderstood girl who secretly loves cute things and wants to be girly
>Blonde haired foreigner asks protagonists directions in not Japanese, language barrier hijinx ensue
>Female delinquent with a deredere side
>Fireworks festival
>Due to misunderstandings MC is mistaken as gay when he's straight
>Protag is insanely dense (I don't care, I love it)
>Male tsundere, best if he's a badass/GAR

>Character keeps fighting even after receiving several serious wounds that actually reduce his capacities
Texhnolyze did this wonderfully.

>extremely manly man that's super serious and quiet all the time.
>they secretly love girly things

>character hums the OP, or it plays on the radio
Name 12 shows where this happens.

half of those are just azumanga characters

The ED updates with every dramatic change in the show

>two vs many fights
>OP/ED playing during the fight

>MC in dire situation about the recieve heavy long-range damage
>rival pops in and blocks like it's nothing
>hey, looking bad there small fry

>it's a beach episode

>Basara's song play anytime the captain has his car's radio on in Macross Frontier

Only good thing about that shitshow

>grew up in a literal house in the middle of the woods
>literal months where there would not be a single SECOND of ANY day without the constant SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>relate to cicada anime on the deepest personal level

The only time this was ever good was at TTGL ep6

Didn't it happen on Samurai Champloo?
I think for Michiko Hachin too
Early Manglobe stuff, I guess

>cicadas got into the basement
>couldn't fucking find them because they shut up when you get near
thank god winter came

>MC and love interest get together early on, with relatively little relationship drama

Thank you Ore Monogatari

>they spent years maturing inside the earth only to leave, get stuck in your basement and freeze to death without ever accomplishing their goal of passing on their genes

>kissu at the end
yet so many series fuck it up

how hard is it

woops, obviously meant to quote

>"NAZE BOKU DA!?"
That hurt to read.
Dostedt?

>character rages so hard they get a power up
>all the MC's are female and they sing the OP/ED together
