Galaxy Angel

new strawpoll sucks ass

What was so good about the Animatrix?

Holy shit, so many good anime came out in 2003. Texhnolyze, Gunslinger Girl, Kaleido Star, Fumoffu, even KGNE was pretty decent

Kino a shit

It's interesting that Wolf's rain and Texhnolyze came out the same year.

Cromartie High

No Bottle Fairy, Nanaka 6/17, Wandaba Style, Twin Spica or Narue no Sekai?

At least one user here has good taste.

Texhnolyze for sure.

Still doesn't get the praise it deserves.

Sup Forums

2003 was such a bad year, not only did we get Kimi ga Nozomu Eien but also the worst possible adaption of Tsukihime

As much as people like to meme about it not existing Turkeyhandle is better than most of the shit this season.

>kids born that year are now becoming teenagers and may already be browsing

>mfw results

I wonder what Sup Forums would think if those shows aired today.

I'm sure Texhnolyze would be decried as 2deep4u shit and left in the gutter, while everyone would be shipping the living shit out of Onegai Twins.

Huh, 2003 was a pretty good year.

boku no pico ver 2003
also whatever had arcade filled with bums tea'd

KINOMODS

>2hucat is ded

>Implying current Sup Forums old enough

>KgNE
>Texhnolyze
>Kino's
>Planetes
All of these aired in a single year. Today we're lucky to get even one such high quality show per year.

This season is great though. You should have said that last season.

God, imagine KGNE aired today.

Sup Forums would be in a fucking shitstorm with the all the NTRs.

But last season we had Luck & Logic which is AOTY

>FMA 2003
>2nd

You guys sure have shit taste

>kino's journey vs planetes

Damn, I wish I could just tie them. There were some other great shows that year but really if you vote something over either of those two you're disqualified from anime. Forever.

KGNE is legitimately awful, what the fuck are you on about? I've never even seen anyone try to praise it before.

Well it does make you feel awful, but KGNE makes me angry in a very unique way. Very few dramas do that. For example I feel that the drama in Nagi no Asukara is nothing compared to KGNE's level of NTR.

Obviously I'm a sucker for heart-wrenching shitty soap dramas, but it does its job very well which is why I think it was a great show, especially considering it's a VN adaptation.

>He didn't cry to the picturebook scene
You monster.

>being this content with utter mediocrity

Years of following anime seasons has plummeted your standards to this point.

People forget how big and open a medium like animation really can be and are content with what the industry shoves out seasonally.

Kino had great stories but the concept with the mostly observing and non-interacting MC felt too static. And the talking bike was a mood killer.
Planetes had a great first half with some delightful comical scenes, then it became overwrought hit-and-miss drama. Never saw an anime shooting itself in the foot so badly.
My vote goes to Texhnolyze. Also, 2002 > 2003.

Planetes.

Cromarie, Kino, Texhnolyze and Planates. What an amazing year.

Kino's LNs are honestly a lot more fun to read than the anime is to watch. But it will always hold a place in my heart. I would love a "season two" with some other stories adapted.

A Troublesome Land should be made into a movie.
baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Kino_no_Tabi:Volume7_Chapter1

What exactly was/is the appeal of Cromartie?
I thought it was very boring.

It was somewhat funny, although with a certain subset of watchers. I'd say some people liked it just because of its art style, Mechazawa and Freddy.

Winter 2003 AOTS = Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto
Spring 2003 AOTS = Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
Summer 2003 AOTS = Fullmetal Panic? Fumoffu
Fall 2003 AOTS = Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (AOTY)
2003 best OVA = Daiakuji
2003 best movie =Tokyo Godfathers

The original was good.

Why was Senpai the Silver Wing so bad?

2002 was even more amazing though.
>Azumanga Daioh, Haibane Renmei (AOTY), Abenobashi, Princess Tutu, YKK2...

Not much. I like the runner one but the rest of it is merely okay at best with the CGI one being terrible.

Abeno is my AOAT

Last Exile was amazing. Shame new Sup Forums doesn't know what it is.

>that initial early 00s transition to digital coloring where there was not yet a lot of expertise in shading and most everything had simple, muted palettes

>Haibane Renmei
>Abenobashi
>Princess Tutu

To think I would be forced to choose between these three.

Kid's Story is the best thing you can take away from that. Beyond is the second best thing.

World Record a close third.

...

>kgne and others
>they don't call it rumbling hearts, erased, cat planet cuties, etc
get with the times gramps

Azumanga's a pretty obvious win to me although Haibane is an honorable mention.

>only one other vote for Last Exile
I know it's a tough decision with so many great titles but it gets way too little love in general.

I was just about to say hello to the other two lastexilebros

Hello!

Really Sup Forums?

Why haven't more people watched this?

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien was horrible in every way whatsoever

Shitty animation, horrible plot, retarded characters that could've easily solved their "problems" but instead chose to mope and cry and do nothing

It is one of the few things I watched that I genuinely regret ever having seen in my life as it has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever

1997: Utena
1998: Serial Experiments Lain
1999: Excel Saga
2000: Boogiepop Phantom
2001: Hare+Guu (bad year)
2002: Haibane Renmei (superb year)
2003: Texhnolyze
2004: Paranoia Agent
2005: Mushishi
2006: Haruhi (mediocre year)
2007: Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
2008: Aria the Origination (great year)
2009: Eve no Jikan
2010: Tatami Galaxy (good year)
2011: Mawaru Penguindrum (great year)
2012: Hyouka
2013: Uchouten Kazoku (mediocre year)
2014: Ping Pong
2015: Yuri Kuma Arashi

Mostly hipster shit

Finally someone who understands what the best show of 2011 was

>lain
>paranoia agent
So is this a list of AOTY or WAOTY because I can't tell what you're going for here.

I've had paranoia agent sitting on my desktop for years and I just don't feel like watching it.

Whether that's good or bad is up to you.

>everything every season has to be the magnum opus of anime

i hate this meme

You really don't miss all that much by not watching it.
While Kon's films are absolutely essential Paranoia Agent is by far his weakest work and as such feels underwhelming even.

>Paranoia Agent is by far his weakest work
No, that would be Perfect Blue.

Comfy.

>2006 (mediocre year)
holy fucking kek

KINNOOO

Eh, maybe, it's my least favoured of the films.
I mean I like parts of Paranoia Agent very much but I feel it's also too long. Some of the episodes are just much better than others so to me it doesn't feel like a copletely solid experience.

>no aria
even without aria this list is shit

I meant that Paranoia Agent was the good one...

>2006: Haruhi (mediocre year)

How to tell user has no clue what the fuck he is talking about.

>calling 2006 mediocre
>picking haruhi over NHK, black lagoon, ergo proxy, death note, nana.

Thoughts on MAL's version of this poll?

strawpoll.me/10235519/r

How's their taste?

Not enough Kino.

>Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
I just downloaded this. Is it any good?

>MAL
Fuck off

Fumoffu desu
It was a weak year

Problem officer?

Fumoffu

fick dich

>kino's journey winning the poll

Old FMA, definitely. It's still one of the best shounen series (and if someone try mentioning Brotherhood, I'll fucking kill your waifu for having shit taste)
Planetes had an atrocious start that I just can't forgive and some later drama wasn't very convincing.
Texhnolyze wasn't bad, but it definitely was pretentious in an artsy way at least a bit and hipsterish.
Kino is pretty boring t b h f a m

Fumoffu for sure. I can't find any anime that are even close to as funny.

Why was 2003 so mediocre?

>no Godannar

Early 2000s were far better than 2010+

>Kino is boring
Go read the LNs

>Paranoia Agent is by far his weakest work
That's not Paprika.

wrath is goat

Keit-Ai Shoujo.

PV: youtube.com/watch?v=JcVGDV67L-g
EP 1: youtube.com/watch?v=o_rz1bluG_k

Its decent if you enjoy drama and aren't enraged by the very prospect of NTR.

>no Azumanga Daioh

Wrong year user.

FINDS A WAY

Thank you for clarifying things by posting the Official and Objective AOTY chart. Here's the updated chart for your convenience.
