Only manchildren/kids and girls like it. With the shit they bring over her it's no wonder people think that.

in the uk it is regarded as being hyper violent and sexual due to how it was marketed during the early 90's and the titles that were selected for release in that time period.

Amongst civilians, it's seen as something only spergs and losers enjoy.

Among the military? Everyone from ghetto-escaping niggas to good ol Southern boys to beaners enjoys anime, regardless of branch.

Switzerland here.

About one third of the youth watches anime. Some are surprisingly deep into it.
Was really surprised how many people like somthing rather hardcore like MonMusu, collecting tank's and shit.

America says anime is for losers and social outcasts

Gook here.

Still treated as "kiddy" entertainment.

Also, watching anime = pro-Japanese. I don't understand this though.

See Only of you're a filthy civilian.

UK here
It's becoming increasingly normie here, popular store chains now have growing selections of shows and nobody cares if you watch it

no one cares if youre in the military

Eh, I've sort of noticed it. A lot of people are still in that mindset though that it's just highly sexual.

Top normie shit.
Everyone watches it. Even shit like Umaru.

We regularly discuss the latest episodes of dragon ball super on the street

Your reply says otherwise.

Here it's treated as kid's stuff with the same repeating offender (DBZ) over and over again due to nostalgia.

It doesn't help for conventions being too family friendly with jewish practices for raping wallets for content which is dissapointing.

Shitgal (Portugal) here.

no you misunderstood. i mean no one cares what entertainment youre into in the military. well done for instantly betraying the fact that you were just looking for an arguement though !

Your vague wording left a lot to the imagination.

In Italy anime is popular but it's considered to be for manchildren and losers, unless you watch the very mainstream shows like One Piece or Naruto

Finland
Anime and manga is for autists.
You will be shit on behind your back 90%

maybe youre paranoid

Eh, not sure, regarded as niche I guess.
ausfag

Sweden
It's acceptable to watch stuff like Cowboy bebop, though you'll probably be viewed as an autist if you show it to others.
We have manga in our libraries though which is cool

I'm Slovak and most people still think anime is only shit like Pokemon and Naruto

I beg to disagree. With young adults no one really cares unless you're a walking stereotype and having basic knowledge of the medium is somewhat normal - at least it is not seen as tentacle porn, you know?

Canada.

No one really cares unless you try and talk about the weird anime (that is to say any anime with a non anime viewer). Most anime fans I meet IRL seem to be stoners or at least use pot to relax on weekends.

It's still pretty unknown to the average person, but most people who have heard of it are aware that it's not just Sailor Moon/DBZ/Akira variants.

No. I simply know that Sup Forums has a lot edgy neverserved retards from /k/ who hate milfags and scream welfare queen. I expect hostility if I ever mention being in the service.

I'm in northern ostrobothnia...

Shit. I thought OP asked how does anime represent my country. Sorry reading is hard.

My condolences

In Malaysia, it's an acceptable, semi-popular hobby.

So you are paranoid?

In Flipland (and pretty much SEA as a whole) it's pretty normal to like anime.

Do you know of Animax Carnival, user?

>Anime Matsuri
Was about to ask you about that.

In Philippines, it's considered a childish shit since most of the people there are retards who only think about muh social life and sports

Dess

Yeah, except cons are becoming a pretty big thing over here.

Finland. We have cons and manga gets transladed in finnish but other than that it is pretty autistic hobby.

It's like Bande dessinée but cheaper, it tends to influence some of our authors too.

One of the big comic books editor could be called weaboos associated and it would be better than their actual name. People like Taniguchi, Tezuka, Urasawa, and so on are considered equals to other "mature" comic books authors.

In Poland anime is for fagots and little girls.
I am both

Germany, we have either casual watchers or the hardcore weeaboo crowd and non-watchers only know Sailor Moon, DBZ and Pokémon, so I don't think its reputation is too great.

Fucking southern scum thinking it's all about them.

Your eurovision singer was weeb as fuck
Shame the qt got no points

IndonAnon here

it's mostly just shoujo and shounen stuff shown over here (Tokyo Mew-Mew, Naruto, etc)

>inb4 irrelevant facts because irrelevant country lol

There's also stuff like Heidi that pretty much every one here knows.

USA!
DRAGON BALL Z!
ONE PIECE!
SAILOR MOON!
SPEED RACER!
TOONAMI!
We only talk about nostalgic "American" animes. If it wasn't on Toonami then you might get deported.

Have you been to AFA?

>Anime Matsuri
>Was about to ask you about that.
Well, we get not very famous singers like LiSA to sing for us in our events I guess. She only did songs for things like SAO and F/SN if memory serves.

Yu Yu Hakusho became the most watch TV show in the Philippines during it's airing. The channel even won an award for how successfully they advertised it. Then it just snowballed from there.

>AFA

Wait, there we're anime conventions here?

I didn't even know.

I'm betting it's usually at the major cities, too.(Jakarta, Surabaya, etc)

>LiSA
>not famous
She's like one of the most popular anison artists right now.

Funny thing is that she went here last year and I went to her concert. She recently said in an interview that she liked halo-halo (a local dessert) so much she even wrote a song about it.

>Indonfag not knowing about AFA Indonesia
To be honest, I'm stunned.

Also, are you familiar with Animax Carnival, particularly ACMY 2015?

Absolutely none.

Apart from getting stuffed into Baltland, where it doesn't fucking belong.

Thanks user-kun
(Sorry for finngolian)

Lithuania here
Well, nobody actually cares about what you like or watch at all. However, it's thought that anime is only for youth ( just like cartoons. Meh, some people even can't see the difference between them)

pogs are, in fact, welfare queens.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE :^)

I rearely go to any kind of converions at all, MKL.

And i mean RARELY.

So how would i know?

Also, takin' a break from /asean/, m8?

It's also extremely haram.

In leafland, if you're between the ages of 25 and 18 right now, watching anime every night when you were 8-14 was one of the most average things a young boy could do.

Used to stay up all night watching shonenshit dragon ball, inu yasha, gundam, .hack//sign, naruto and FMA, and then spend the entirety of the week circlejerking anime with at least 10 other people throughout junior high and most of high school

YTV (the popular cartoon channel) used to air anime late in the night during the weekends throughout 2000-2004 so it was pretty much the highlight of most of our weeks growing up.

A good chunk of younger canadian adults are closet anime fans, or had anime phases when they were teenagers.

Monmusu is pretty mainstream for some reason. In America it is quite frequently at the top of the best sellers list for manga.

Well you could have at least said you've heard of it.

>taking a break from /asean/
Yeah. Sort of. Don't want to say anything about my new overlord.

Murika: most hate it and ostracize those who like it.

Polan here, many people recognize entry level series that aired here long time ago, like DBZ (with polish lector over french dub).
Aside form that, saying "I watch anime" would probably be a social suicide among normalfags. I don't recall seeing anything anime-related outside of internets, like anime clubs or manga being sold in your average bookstore.
I know a few people who watch anime, but they are overrepresented in my acquaintance sample since most of them are math and computer nerds. No one with power level anywhere close to hundreds of series though, mostly barely above an average saofag.

Leave it to a tripfag to be retarded.
Most people don't give a shit. There are some misconceptions that anime is "weird cartoon porn," and it's usually associated with popular franchises, but nobody really cares.
Of course if you are an avid collector you'll be considered a nerd or geek, but that is true of any hobby. Regardless you will never get ostracized unless you're 15 years old with the self-esteem of an average harem protagonist.

There's still a ton of younger weebs in Canada, I work in a bookstore and there's always 12 year olds flocking for the biggest current flavor of the month meme manga.

Holy counter troll

The weebs at Animangaki are much more tolerable than Comic Fiesta's. Also, the casuals are annoying with the whole 'otacool' shit.

The fujos here have good taste sometimes.

In Russia you are either treated as a normal person, or people consider you a wierdo - it's 50/50. But literally everyone is a-ok about mmos for some fucking reason.

I'm from Suomus and my impression is that anime is very poorly known outside of its fandom, is regarded as kids' entertainment, isn't show a lot on TV and isn't well available on DVD/BD.. Manga seems to be huge, but is probably considered for kids too.

Why is it okay to say you like something like gaming but you're immediately ostracized for saying you like anime and manga?

Argentina
Nobody gives a shit because we had anime in in tv since the 70's, fanbase is mostly cancer, but that's most countries I guess.

Gamershits are insecure about the false sense of accomplishment they've sunk into all their precious achievements.

Gaming is much more popular.

>huehueland
Normalfags like oldass anime like Dragonball, Sailor moon, Saint Seiya and such. Hardcore weebs are mostly deemed as cringeworthy but people don't actually care much

Italy here
A lot of young people are into it and pretty much everyone around my age grew up watching DBZ, One Piece and other stuff.
Some people still consider anime and manga to be weird or childish, but unless you literally make fun of yourself by going around with a Naruto headband or won't shut up about it with people who don't care, no one's gonna give a shit.

So it's really just one medium being spiteful over another because it's more popular?

It's just that if something becomes popular enough it becomes socially acceptable.

Anime doesn't have a chance because of the deeply ingrained stigma that animation is for children, and the way it was introduced to America.

Yet it's perfectly fine for the average person to like Seth MacFarlene shit and Adult Swim stuff.

In the UK it was a friend mine from the Philippines that got me into animal in the first place

And actually somehow made most of my year try out one piece

Well the exception to the rule is sitcoms. Those are ok because you aren't meant to take them seriously, and they're like the animation equivalent to newspaper comics.

Another problem anime has is that it's Japanese and a lot of Americans hate anything Japanese.

EITHER you're viewed as an autistic man child, or they don't care atall, just another show to watch

Anime I meant not animal

>Anime doesn't have a chance because of the deeply ingrained stigma that animation is for children
Western animations are fairly popular among youths. I think it's the language/cultural barrier plus the whole sexualization thing. If westerners weren't such prudes anime would be more popular

But then how do you explain things like Otakon?

HMV has a whole section of anime blu-rays but fuck are they expensive

Bulgaria. It seems to be turning pretty mainstream among teens. Anime-cons are a regular here and are always full to the top with cringy Tokyo Ghoul fangirls. Just walking around town on weekends is a sure chance to bump into some weebs, unironically wearing cat ears. It's disgusting.

Sexual content in anime is a problem precisely because anime is supposed to be for children. American live action shows are more sexual than any TV anime, yet it's no problem because they're supposed to be for adults.

>South Africa
Pokemon and DBZ was huge here. Especially DBZ. Literally everyday at 5PM, the streets in my neighbourhood were empty.
t. black guy

Argie here
There are a few series everyone watched as kids so its ok to talk about them, but if you mention anything else, you'll be seen as a weeaboo

France here, almost everybody who aren't 40 years old and more watch or have watched anime, my country is the second bigger anime and manga customer behind Japan.

Not bad.

I was beaten up in the streets because I was wearing an Eva T-shirt

Middle eastern country ?

I don't know about younger generation, but oldest people don't give a fuck about your hobbies in Russia. Meanwhile all early 20 people I meet sometimes trying their hard to look adult as fuck. It's pretty cute, so I assume anime and games are big no-no for young people here.

I thought we were third since the US consumption of manga increased.

France is one of best place for artists, right?

Most Flips are Shounenfags

>Go to a con in Northern Ireland
>Go past Anime stall
>Overhear some old guy looking in that direction and saying: "Hey! They're those...wat' d'ya call em', er, JAPANESE CARTUYNS"

I think Anime's too new for most people here, so it just gets the same reputation that normal cartoons get.

No, Italian city suburbs. I guess I'll just post the story here
>be 19 yo me
>have nothing to wear for a metal concert
>"well I'll just put on this black Eva T-shirt, (pic reated) no one's gonna get the reference anyway"
>go to concert
>a kid at the bus stop asks me if it's from Evangelion (he was a newfag who'd only seen the rebuilds
>the bus the kid was waiting for arrives, there's no one else at the stop except me and 4-5 mobs who have overheard the conversation
>they start beating me up after calling me a weeb (well, the Italian equivalent) and run away when some other people show up (there was literally no one apart from us at the moment)
>go to concert anyway

Normies are cancer who belong in labor camps. What else is new.
