The reason a slacker with no ambition and no useful or marketable skills is making less than $30,000 a year is not because "the system" screwed him over but because he was unable to compete with the best.
This is also putting aside that the buying power of your average consumer has increased massively in the modern era thanks to the free market and free trade, with the result that even someone making less than $30,000 dollars a year can afford to live in relative comfort.
If you want to blame anything to for slowing economic growth in the first world, blame advancements in technology creating labor redundancy or frivolous social spending ala Venezuela/the former USSR rather than corporations--the people who are responsible for all of the luxuries a man in the modern world enjoys.
