How bad is there betting shop problem in your country...

How bad is there betting shop problem in your country , these seem to pollute every poor area here from London to Scotland and prey on poor old people

I live in Glasgow, , about 3 years ago there was a new betting shop getting fitted out by shopfitters, but the day before it opened, some bright spark gaffa-taped a giant sign on the window saying "JUST WHAT DENNISTOUN NEEDS - ANOTHER BETTING SHOP". We have far too many of them of them here in this district alone.

And the people who lose money here were paragons of frugality beforehand?

I knew someone who worked in a betting shop.

He said one of the most soul crushing things he ever saw was a man leave his 6 year old daughter standing alone outside the shop (you're not allowed inside betting shops unless you're 18, even with family) while he placed a bet.

I'm from Vegas. You guys are faggots.

Only Muppets go in those places.

In germany its either betting or "casinos" with slot machines. Some areas have retarded amounts of them - and there is no way they can all have a costumer base.. I guess its some kind of big money laundering scheme...
I mean its perfect:
"hey where did those 10 k euros come from?"
"uhm some guy came in this morning and placed a bet that high on something absurd"
"oh okay then have a nice day"

>soul crushing

lol thats nothing

I live in a smallish town outside Glasgow and we have 6 bookies in the town.

Poor people are poor because they make poor decisions. Why do you want to deprive the poor of their liberty and freedom?

gambling is illegal in 99% of USA, so not a problem.

It's payday loans and cash4gold where I live

People give away their family jewels for a couple of weeks supply of cigarettes and alcohol

The fact that these places and are so successful in poorer communities is pretty damning evidence that a lot of these people are entirely responsible for their own financial mess.

I've been to the casino a couple of times, it's mildly entertaining but basically full of drug dealers and chinese doing absurd things with money

must be fun to own a chain of those

They're fucking everywhere in almost every town in the country. The state of the high street in England... Jesus wept.
You walk down the street and you've got Costa Coffee, Betfred, Cafe Nero, Ladbrokes, Paki Shop, Starbucks, Wetherspoons, Paddypower, Sainsbury's local, Coral, Polish Shop... And on and on from end to end and every single square inch covered in fag ends, dog shite and pasty, flabby fucking 'human' race counterfeit scum that can barely see where it is walking through the miasma of car exhaust, stink haze and shuffling masses of walking bin bag ladies muttering something or other in their guttural desert language.

Sometimes I sit and fantasise about just pulling alongside on a flatbad with a browning .50 cal and soaking the lot of it with hot lead. (just joking GCHQ)
If you're not depressed before you step out the front door in the morning you certainly are by the time you get back.

His mudda was a mudda?

You forgot the obligatory kebab or fried chicken shop plus barbers

They've got to be fronts for drugs or prostitution or something.
Every small town I'm in now I see a dozen barbers on a single street. How can they all stay open with such saturation?

>2017
>feeling bad for degenerate gamblers

>customers pay in cash
>usually no goods consumed

It's perfect for money laundering.

Worked in one once. An old man had spent his pension on numbers games, his wife came in with his dinner on a plate covered in clingfilm and tipped it over him

99% of all the bars around me have video gambling. I actually partake very rarely, but I made $300 off of it last week so new external hard drive for me.

are you fucking gay? I used to work in a casino and some guy kidnapped a baby for ransom and it died. I know because I was dealing black jack and saw the guy getting arrested at a roulette table. He was a poo in the loo to.

When I was a lad my dad used to leave me outside the pub for hours whilst he was inside getting drunk.

I would tell my mum about it when we got home but if she complained he would hit her.

I stopped telling my mum because I hated seeing her being battered.

What's so bad about that? If you really like the independent grocers and pubs so much you'd have used them. We didn't, so they're gone.
Get down the spoons for a burger and a beer and cheer up.

That was quite common, stick the kid outside with a lemonade and a packet of crisps then pick him up eight pints later.
Women used to leave baby in the pram outside the shop too.

It seems that you care too much about these people.

>"Poor people are poor, because gambling is made too easily available for them.
>Close betting shops."
>Poor people start doing illegal gambling / betting.
>"It's the fault of these gansters that prey on these poor people"

Apply same logic to everything - alcohol, cigarettes, drugs. You will find that it's not the sellers who are at fault here, but that the underlying people are shitty and they demand the vices.

This. When I worked in a bookie's I knew loads of reprobates who'd lost their wives, jobs etc to gambling. Now I work elsewhere and know only a handful of people who even use them. Online gambling is probably a bigger problem DESU. OP sounds like Owen Jones.

Its the right of every persone to ruin their lives in whatever manner they please. I thought this was a right wing board.

I work in one, specifically the company in your image. AMA

Tragic if true. Sad

you can launder the money in the casino, without being the owner

Let's say you have 1 mil in cash because you sell drugs. You take 5k and go to casino and bet on roulette black. You have slightly lower than 50% chance to win. You either lose that 5k or win 10k. You leave and you get the payout slip (in case you've won). You do that 200 times and now you have slightly less than 1 million dollars with proof of origin (casino slips).

Are you in the military?

>Spot on.

>people have a hard time managing their finances and not wasting their money on useless rubbish so we should make it even harder for them
your logic

Yeah, the reason they proliferate in the UK is that the government taxes them at 80%. Don't ever expect them to become regulated, they are a guaranteed income for the Treasury, mathematically.

Aye.
>tfw UK still make the bestest Drama

But where did you get the money to bet that $5000 every time

For all they know I came in with $50.

The high street in UK is a fucking joke.

Dominated by betting shops, pakistani chicken shops (blacks love it) and charity shops.

The state has a monopoly on betting, like in Turkey, so no problem at all.

It's duty of other classes to help the poor and show them a better way of life, promote education etc. Not throw them under the bus.

If I investigated, why do I know I'd find a Jew behind this? They prey on our weaknesses like bacteria into an infection: liquor, whoremongering, gambling, all traditionally Jew trades. Edward 1 banned them from England for all time. you can thank Cromwell or England would have no Jewish problem. And as soon as they're allowed, they come scurrying back like rats to prey on the people again.

I live 1 minute from a betting shopping. Worse that it's next to a McColls. Fucking 3 quid for butter. Why can't it be a tescos or sains local

Here in the U.S. there are a lot of small casinos that fill a similar role, I don't know what to tell you OP there is a certain class of people that will just look to piss their money away no matter what you do, close all the betting shops and they'll all buy lottery tickets, ban the lottery and they'll start sending money to televangelists. The one that pisses me off is payday loan places, they always target dumbasses who don't want to wait two paychecks to buy a fucking television or XBOX or whatever, and their check cashing services are the kind of thing you'd have to be literally retarded to use in the era of easy checking accounts.

I believe Australians are the worst per capita gambling losers in the world so there is that I guess

Idiot tax, no one forces you to go in

I have never seen one of these in the various states I've lived in.

Did you mean, "his wife came in with his dinner on a plate covered in plastic wrap and dumped it on him"?

I am banned from.the shops . They ban you if you win. That s a joke.

...

The real joke is that you're probably better off being banned.

no

Stop whining mcolls stock toffee pops and toffee pops are the shit.

Heard any good jokes about penguins recently?

I've never though about it before, but now I think about it they are everywhere

I live in the countryside, but I've got a horror story. This entire town, and all the surrounding fields, is probably only a few miles around, but people have started driving their cars EVERYWHERE. The "local" shop is barely more than 20 minutes walk from anywhere else and people drive and clog up the road with their parked cars, and even drive to the fields to walk their dogs.

We're turning into fucking Americans, because of course everyone's weight has skyrocketed over the last 5 years this shit has started.

All we have around here is charity shops, which is fine, but it's a real sign of the times that this is where most people get their clothes now. Even I bought my boots from there.

Doesn't stop the aforementioned driving though.

I relate to these feelings user.

A blessing in disguise
You'll be grateful once it kicks into full gear and those cars are replaced with Walmart scooters

I took tens of thousands of pounds off the bookies. It's called professional gambling. Need to use other people now if I want to place bets.

Gambling should not be illegal or regulated.
Fuck off

>You forgot the obligatory kebab or fried chicken shop
*drug money laundering fronts

All our countries fucking suck now. It's actually shocking how quickly the West has declined.

Exactly this, I've met eastern euros saying they can't believe how easy it is to be at uni and work part time and yet still get a better wage than their parents while half the natives think it's hard-going

Nope. Because I'm not a fucking burger.
>Muh sidewalk

Not true

Go in and thank the guy who banned you.
I bet theres thousands of people in the gutter who wish they would have just been banned

Nah charity shops are pretty great, why just throw something away if someone else can make use out of it and enjoy it like you did, it was gonna get thrown anyway.
Plus if some of the money goes to a decent cause thats great, yeah i know only like 0.1% of the cash goes to them but still better than nothing, shame its like that though

Why Should he be thankful that he got banned, If he is telling the truth, being banned by these low grubs for having the audacity to actually put some time and effort in to actually do the form and get an edge. These places are the scum of the earth, deliver nothing to the community and prey on problem gamblers and losers, whilst telling the winners that their business is not welcome under 'risk management' practices.
In Aus these spineless Euros set up shop, banned all the winners and just bet all the losing punters. They actually had to bring in rules for horse racing where the online bookmakers have to bet a client a minimum amount, instead of rejecting them. They ruined an industry these parasites.

>But where did you get the money to bet that $5000 every time
From selling drugs, but you tell the government from winnings.
The paperwork for you doesn't include your losses.

However as a means of laundering money betting at a casino is retarded. Small cash dominated businesses are vastly superior in through put and lost money.
Lets say you buy the rights to a few street vendor stalls or food trucks. Your workers go out and sell normal fare and make or lose money. You the owner adds fake cash sales to each unit making up the laundering process. If you are working with an established organized crime group they almost surely have a meat packing operation. You buy the most expensive meat from them while they ship you cheap junk or nothing at all. That meat packing plant now has extra profit to be made from selling the premium product twice, or a cheap product for a premium price. Your business is now able to pass more money into a clean operation. You pay out your profit as dividends or directly transfer to a holding company that owns your fleet of street vendors.

The government isn't going to waste time to check to make sure your business sales and taxes paid are correct in terms of over representing sales. Treasury spends too much time trying to catch cheats avoiding taxes, not looking for drug dealers trying to pay extra.

What the fuck would you even call a sidewalk?
