What is that new city volume js06 just made an entry for?
There are two volumes which don't belong to the original publishing and came out later.
Image City SF and Zenon City Tokyo are these two.
Just like DC for Owari no Chronicle, I guess?
Why are Azuma and Miriam so perfect together?
They have lots of sex.
Added the 4-A EPUB for City. Just a heads up.
No images yet because of the reason I mentioned in the pastebin.
Also, if Ivan is here by chance, or reads this later, check your mails please. Thanks.
I want to examine the Shinjou.
season 3 when
New Hexennacht when
How was second volume?
I think volume three hasn't even started in the magazine yet.
So it's going to be a while.
Edgy mary sue not so mary sue after all
F-22 save the day
Manko blushing an awful lot over Kagami
10 out of 10
Toori a cute.
I want to protect him.
How come the epub of 3-C is linked on the Baka-Tsuki page but it's not in the mediafire folders linked on just-believe.in?
Is uhh.. owari no chronice worth reading???
*of Horizon 3-C
I want to slice those tits off and roast them over a fire
I made my own account since it's easier for me to edit and replace the files. You'll find all current and future ones over there.
cooking is edgy
ok i'll read it after I get home from school
Edgy mary sue not so mary sue after all
Read that she uses scythes
Reach the image of her Magino Frame
I was disappointed.
Yoshy is very cute.
It has Kagami using her Magino Frame as a giant surfboard.
It's great. As is typical in Kawakami works, the enemies aren't really bad people, everyone has good reasons for fighting, and there are no circumstances under which a dash of insanity is a bad thing.
Ah, thanks user.
There can never be too much worship of the butt spirit.
city series artwork reminds me of power stone
It's written in a first-person perspective, how very unusual for Kawakami.
Also just the first few parts of this novel is chock-full of references, both to world history and to other Kawakamiverse eras.
This bag for example probably says IZUMO.
In the illustration’s background, you should be able to see a number of things attached to the gas light.
What, exactly? A steam valve on the right one, and a shower head on the left one?
Better than the first if you ask me.
I'm enjoying this a lot.
Reminds me of an old video... I dunno why do people do those.
Those two are illustrations novels that were originally serialized in magazines and later released as novels.
As you can see in this pic, SF is more of a halfway point between a novel and a manga, so it won't work as well as Tokyo with the BT format.
And I just noticed that example is much farther on the manga side of things then I thought, so here's the preceding page.
I've already started pondering how I should handle Tokyo while editing.
Do a complete typeset with the text in the left box as well or crop it like you did to create a proper e-book?
Well, I'll put it on hold for now and wait for the opinion of you guys while I continue to fight against Hexennacht.
Yeah, SF looks almost like a manga apart from the last few pages.
What did you expect? Can't get more edgy than that.
I hope #1 uses a hammer.
In Owari no Chronicle
how did Low Gear end up getting blamed for the destruction of every other gear when they all self-destructed?
Going by her design, maybe something Chinese?
Those weapons Shampoo wields would come close to a hammer, or a meteor hammer.
Low Gear destroyed ten gears after the Eight Great Dragon Kings and others of Sayama's grandfather's generation fought. The only gear that self-destructed was Top Gear (because of their experiments with concept creation), and even then almost everyone thought that Low Gear had been responsible.
It's been years, it's time to let go.
Love Live is finally done. Sunrise doesn't have anything else to do now.
Love Live is finally done.
I have bad news, user.
Maybe I'm just blind, but can someone explain to me how this is a scythe?
It's only very loosely shaped like a scythe.
The Magino Device in the background has the "scythes" attached in a circle and facing outward.
That makes sense. I guess I had just mentally imagined it as one of the traditional scythes where the blade is perpendicular to the handle.
The latest Tokyo update features Heavy Knights (which I completely forgot were mentioned in Tokyo), but all you need to know is that they're the City Era version of gods of war.
Nice. Good to see those are still around.
Why is there no art of horizon girls having their breasts sliced off?
How do I start reading or watching all this shit?
Watch the anime, then start reading the books from volume 1-A.
Horizon is part of a larger timeline, with CITY being last, Hexennacht coming some time after Horizon, and Owari no Chronicle coming some few thousand years before Horizon.
They're all far apart enough to be stand alone, but you can see how technology progresses as time passes from series to series.
You can each series in whatever order you like -- they are loosely connected but by no means is there a fixed order you should read them in.
Horizon has an anime, which is a good way to get into the Kawakamiverse. Another common way to start is to read Owari no Chronicle, which is fully translated.
Oh I see. I watched the first season kinda passively so I'll rewatch that. Do you read Kimitoasamade along side the first book or at the end?
I've been told it should be read no sooner than 3-A, since some characters show up that aren't introduced until then.
The whole of Kimitoasamade basically spans over both anime season and therefore over the first two volumes.
Best would be after you finish 2-B.
That makes sense. I never realized it was such a lengthy series. Thanks for the help though
I never realized it was such a lengthy series
You're hilarious and my picture is outdated.
I think this was from another user.
Ohh, a kawakami thread. I've been wanting to ask, do the musashi girls ever get into relationships? I know some of the guys do.
Nothing two sided thus far, I think.
I guess Kawakami doesn't want to upset the waifufags, which is a shame.
Oh that's a shame I thought some of the relationships so far are not too bad.
What are these two up to now? Anything relevant happen?
Yeah, it'd be nice to have a couple of more developing romances for the main characters after Noriki/Houjou, but it might be from a decision further up than himself. I don't think the current creative climate can allow preexisting waifus to be married off like that, which is why we get to see entirely new couples develop instead (Kristina and her shota).
A bunch of those on the right were other light novels though.
However, since then I have picked up Hexennacht 1 and 2, the second Girls Talk and any other Horizon volumes released since it was taken, so it's probably the right size.
Unfortunately almost all of those books are still in New Zealand. On the plus side, I get to walk into a local bookstore in a couple of weeks and pick up the next Horizon volume.
LIVING THE DREAM
Still no S3 is more like a nightmare.
Miriam confess to Azuma in volume 8
Just finished Horizon 2 fuck I want more.
There's always the LNs.
I want my own mini library
I'm still on 3-A
Futayo's doing fine in the later volumes, right?
She enjoys sex a lot and becomes Musashi's highest paid prostitute
She enjoys sex a lot
Yeah, she does.
Musashi's highest paid prostitute
Like a an Instructor or sparring partner of some sort?
Will Horizone become a bit less autistic later in novels?
She was off even when alive, so I don't think so.
Toori sure knows how to pick his girls
She was off even when alive
Not as off as dead.
At least she was smiling.
If Zaregoto can get an anime, then so can Owari no Chronicle (and season 3).
I'll believe until Kawakami's 20th anniversary next year, then I will gladly accept despair.
the smug is real in that picture
Does anyone else think that Mary Sue's story resemble Brunhilde's? Kagami is basically Siegfried in this setting, the two worlds seem similar enough and she uses a Scythe and is sort of tsundere with Kagami like Brunhilde was with Siegfried.
I think at least half of them were in one from the very beginning or at least paired up with someone pretty early, or had a setting that basically said: no.
Kimi is impossible.
Nate, Asama, Horizon and Toori.
Heidi and Shiro.
Miriam and Azuma.
Margot and Naruze.
So, there's like 5 of them left.
Suzu, Adele, Naomasa, Futayo, and Masazumi.
And if you take the jokes even further, Cave Woman has food and alcohol while Masazumi has her Mouse.
Isn't Naomasa paired with Nagayoshi?
Also, Adele was paired with Narimasa for a brief period, before the arrive of Fuwa.
Now that you mention it...
Not sure if coincidence or reincarnation.
If Kagami is Sayama, Manko is Asama and Mary is Brunhild, then who is Hunter?
As the petite American with a dead pilot father, I'm guessing she's Heo.
She's like genkish version of Heo, with more confidence and boxing instead of running.
I would say Horinouchi is least interesting of the bunch so far. Everyone else has something going on with them, while she's just Asama 2.0.
Why is there no art of Horizons having their balloon tits sliced off?
can u stop being edgy?
implying it's edgy
Because Kawakami is a benevolent writer that gives everyone something.
The balloon tits crowd gets Kimi, Asama, etc
The flat crowd gets Malga, Suzu, Adele, etc.
What about the crowd that wants to see balloon tits get sliced off? It could be a cooking thing. I want a scene where Neito is cooking some balloon tits like the famous Hannibal cooking scene.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Make it yourself then.
it looks like a balloon when shes wearing the skintight bodysuit
Well, that means nearly all of them were paired up at some point.
Because she's holding them up all the time.
Hex seems really strange. Not much in terms of exposition, no crazy setting detail, and what, five characters?
Very unusual for the madman.
...and Satoyasu went full halftonelord. Considering Horizon is pretty much business as usual illustration-wise, just how much the two plan before starting a series?
I think that with Obstacle he's trying to recreate the City series, so when the Black Witch's defeated Kagami will move along to another world.
Then during the last showdown with her sister, Kagami'll summon the various people she met in her voyage.
Love Live Sunshine! anime
It starts July 2nd
holding? with what?
Design Is bad
I think it's plenty detailed considering it's half the size of his average Horizon book.
holding isnt really the right term.
Asama`s lewd can`t be stopped.
Head butler is best boy.
I'd love to have all that
pushing up might be better
That's 60 fucking books, and with standard US LN prices of around $8 for a 300 page book it would end up $480 for just Kawakami's stuff alone.
That's assuming the bigger books don't go up to $20 due to their sheer size.
I think it would be hard even for Kawakami to have two series with massive settings in his head at once.
And though the cast is small, they're all very typical Kawakami characters in quirks and development.
Prices to increase with thickness, indeed.
9-B is 1050 yen which makes it basically another 1000 pages book.
How is Hex anyhow?
So was it really a bird?
I would love to put those tits on a chopping board and slice them off.
Fights on a truly massive scale and weird jokes.
Kagami Kagami gives zero fucks and channels Sayama hard.
OnC light, if you will.
So what about witches having sex
The longest book(2B), and as far as I can tell most expensive, is 1285 yen which is $11.68.
Not yet, but I wouldn`t be surprised one bit. She calls her Manko already.
Maybe we'll get anther issue of Norman Conquest.
They wouldn't be anywhere close to that if they were licensed outside of Japan.
I suddenly understood what picrelated was about.
Js06 is a genius.
It was not that Horinouchi did not enjoy stories. She had even shed tears over fiction. There was that one story in Japanese class during elementary school…what was it called? That one where the man rescues the crane and the crane came to repay him. The husband was told not to peek when his wife was weaving her cloth, but he did and found out she was the crane. And when the crane prepared to leave in shame…
“ ‘Wait! I’m actually only attracted to birds! Please stay in your true form!’ And then the aroused man spread the crane’s legs and prepared to-…”
The very end had been so awful that she had cried. Their teacher had asked them if this was a happy ending or not and the class had been divided. The radical furries among the boys had gathered together to insist humans and animals should receive equal treatment and it had ultimately led to a class trial, but Horinouchi had to wonder what the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology was thinking with that.
Gets me everytime.
Would Koutarou be Ooshiro or Hiba/Tenzou?
A mix, but more of 10ZO. He`s actually useful, and that suffering in the beach heat bit...
Hunter is probably Nate/Yoshi.
Do female radical furries no longer exist in OBSTACLE?
(USER WAS LANCED FOR THIS POST)
he's trying to recreate the City series
You're probably right on the money, given the title Hexennacht is given in the Era list on the back.
Then again, Owari no Chronicle was also called the 1st. AHEAD, and to date we've still never seen anything else set in AHEAD.
that will pass Sunrise will either give Horizon s3 or that other series was made 12 years ago?
what was the name of it again
Save us Sunrise, the name is starting to fade from my mind.
That dog has seen some shit.
want to get into this stuff
have to complete OnC and catch up on all volumes of Horizon which is like 4000+ pages before I can properly participate in discussion
Meh.. reading in isolation for that long is kind of a turn off, but I'll probably do it anyways sometime. Anime was great.
Nah, you can participate right form the start.
Horizon doesn`t feel long when you get into it.
You know you don't have to read OnC to read Horizon, right?
Not that you'd want to miss it, but yeah.
How old is Adele close to 18 years old since the whole crew is full of freshman losers
Class 3 Plum is a third year class, so they're all 17 or 18.
This picture is pretty damn intidimating anyhow, but yeah I guess if I enjoy it it'll go by quickly.
I'm aware, though I heard it's pretty good so if I'm gonna read it anyways might as well start in proper order.
So they are freshman losers right
Do we have an annual freshman hunt when the juniors and senior crew form together to haze and destroy the freshman scum.
Kawamori should make an arc over this
I like Hime more than Otome, but only because my taste is shit, so don't worry.
Shit, I`m sorry, didn`t see your post right away.
I`m all for it, let`s split 9. Got 9A gutted here already.
And since we`re talking about scanning stuff, a question for everyone: how will you guys take it if I do text only pages at 300dpi? Got my hands on Epson GT-1500 here. It`s quite good, but ADF scanning is restricted to 300. Vuescan can upscale it to 600 or my usual 450, but it doesn`t look good.
Size-wise it will be like picrelated, plus some additional sharpening I`m still experimenting with.
What's he got to do with this
So they are freshman
They are Seniors.
Ariadust Academy is a High School.
If you watched the show at all, I don't know how this slipped by.
They all self destructed with little, if any, Low Gear involvement. First Gear was destroyed when the king of First Gear tried to seal it off from the other gears and started a run away self destruction of their dimension. Old librarian stops the acceleration of destruction by killing the mechanical dragon that was out of control and takes the blame to let first gear's people keep the belief that their king wasn't an idiot. Second Gear was destroyed when the people of second gear lost control of their concept core by forgetting it's name and Low Gear has to clean up after them and seal it before it destroys Low Gear. Third Gear's king spends thousands of years killing off his own subjects and using them as parts for weapons until only one member of the entire race has the ability to have children some convoluted shit happens and the king voluntary lets himself be killed forcing his son to flee Third Gear destroying their world. Fourth Gear voluntarily destroys itself after talking with old Sayama. Fifth Gear is destroyed after a Low Gear citizen helps them end their endless civil war with Black Sun that had half of the world's concept core. Sixth Gear is destroyed when they tried to control their world's cycle of death and rebirth so it could up with the losses due to the war and they lost control of it leading to their world's destruction. Seventh Gear voluntarily destroys itself after a Low Gear citizen helps them make the pinnacle of their body modification art. Eighth Gear voluntarily destroys itself to go with Shinjou because she was nice to them. Ninth Gear tries to activate their concept dragon and it goes berserk and is killed by the Ninth Gear king pretending to be a Low Gear citizen. Tenth Gear was destroyed by Ragnarok when Tenth Gear citizens stole the concept core from those in power.
Low Gear's only crime is taking in refugees from the most incompetent groups of people in existence.
she's just Asama 2.0
Worse. She's Asama minus the alcoholism and the lewd.
She's not a bad character, but she leaves something to be desired.
Believe it or not, this is actually the first time I noticed that the Suzaku and Dikaio are in this illustration.
Since I'm apparently blind and easily distracted, is the Hedgehog somewhere here as well?
Well the Suzaku is basically a living orange so no wonder you missed it.
Hedgehog is behind the giant japanese text floating over Hunter
she leaves something to be desired.
She's super gay, isn't that enough
Anyone else find it bs that they're having Hourinouchi and Kagami double team everyone? Kagami and Horinouchi alone would have never got past Hunter and they only barely handled Mary after she gave away her techniques in the fight with Hunter which they only managed to figure out and counter with the help of all of Horinouchi's people and the entire American military behind them.
Not really. It's not like anything is stopping the others from doing the same.
Their pride is probably what's stopping them.
Oh, you're completely right. Wow, I managed to say something completely stupid without realizing it.
It's better than inconsistent powerlevel wanking, at least.
All things considered, having Kagami beat Hourinouchi, then having the Kagami-Hourinouchi pair beat Hunter, then having all three of them collaborate to beat Mary Sue makes a lot of sense. No inexplicable bursts of strength or deus ex machina needed.
The way things are going, all four of them might have to cooperate in some form or another to deal with the Rank 1. Plus, given that the Black Witch is extraordinarily powerful, setting up a scenario where all the major characters have to work together is a lot more logical than having the main protagonist deal with everything alone.
I think the main issue is that she's essentially been a completely reactive character so far. Kagami does something, and Hourinouchi just gets pulled along for the ride. It'd be nice to see some initiative on her part.
He's planning ahead. Kawakami's willingness to leave open the possibility of other works in each era gives us something to really look forward to.
Got it. I'll be getting two copies then.
I think it's good enough for text pages, especially since it will save you a lot of trouble and time.
I want him to write something in EDGE before returning to any of the other eras.
For a time period called "The Age of the Gods" the powercreep must be amazing!
I thought it was just a College Academy that's all
Just like your soul is bound by the Earth's gravity, anime is bound by the High School setting.
I just want some Kawakami space battles.
Reading through 3B,
I didn't know kawakami wrote "sex scenes". I was kinda unprepared and popped a stiffy,
Does it occur more later on?
I can't stop staring at this cover
Asama: “I’m not sure I like how you put it, but that’s more or less it.”
Her archery, sniping, and bombardments were generally meant to help the people. Sometimes it might come down to relieving stress or shooting for shooting’s sake, but it was generally to help people.
Helping people was a shrine maiden’s job.
“The Far East created the being known as the Emperor, gained indirect access to the Environmental Gods, and used that power to bring themselves up to the same level as the world nations. Accessing the Environmental Gods meant they could alter the weather, you see. After that, the European forces agreed to a truce with the Far East. But another land put up such a perfect resistance that they had to be subjugated. …Yes, that was the eastern nations from southern Kinki to Mikawa and from Kantou to Oushuu. It is now said that was used as a recreation of the Imperial Court’s later subjugation of Oushuu.”
Okay, this suddenly answers one of the big open questions about the history recreation: why Japan's history has had such a disproportionately large role. All things considered, Japan's history isn't particularly important on a global level until the modern era, so it's always been odd that the Sengoku period would be treated equally with the Thirty Years' War.
If it so happened that the Far East had control over the environmental gods, though, then it's a whole other matter.
At least once more in the latest book.
“That was when this world gained its current rules. That was when the Age of the Testament began and the Anti-Decline Pro-Tuning was established. How much do you know about that?”
i bet she helps people with sexual problems too
why didnt everyone else have access to the environmental gods
Probably for a similar reason to why they ran berserk in the first place. Something must have gone wrong in the terraforming process -- it's pretty odd that a civilization capable of reaching godhood would have problems terraforming one planet.
why Japan's history has had such a disproportionately large role
A second very good reason is given in OnC.
“The Izumo Aviation Institute has an old professor named Professor Tenkyou. He developed this odd theory known as the Divine States-World Interaction Theory. According to this theory, the layout of ley lines gives Japan a layout identical to the entire world.”
“Japan’s shape causes the Divine States to correspond to the continents of the world. All of those continents possess ley lines and all of those ley lines coincidentally pass through Japan. Or so his theory says.” The elderly soldier pulled a fountain pen from his chest and held the map down with his hand. “I will now indicate where the ley lines connect.”
“I see. And that is called the Divine States-World Interaction? What good is this absurd idea?”
“According to Professor Tenkyou, the whole influences the part and the part influences the whole. If Japan possesses the layout of the world due to the world’s ley lines passing through, he suggests we could influence the world from here.”
that sounds pretty mary sue.
Right. These two together give Japan its disproportionate influence -- the Divine States-World Interaction Theory means the Far East has the potential to represent the whole world, and the successful creation of the Emperor gave them the political and military clout to ensure that things worked out in their favor.
no, what gave them their disproportionate influence was an author that knew that JAPAN STRONG would make Otaku buy it like crazy.
You're forgeting that almost all of it was covered up.
1st was destroyed because their king was afraid of other world powers and want to seal its world from the others as fast as possible. If not for Siegfried appearance , who showed them that even man from the lovest Gear could destroy their dragons it probably won't happend that early on.
2nd Gear asked for help with Yamata from the Low-Gear, but the Hiromasa didn't make it in time, so it's partially his fault for not doing anything untill it's to late.
3nd Gear was destroyed when Ryuutetsu willingly killed their last man, and if not for Chronos master plan their race would completely cease to exist. (Mikage was supposed to be just a normal human after her evolution)
Kaoru was the only one who've made the contact with 4rd Gear, and if not for him it would probably survive untill the time of destruction.
5th Gear was destroyed because Thunderson willingly volontiereed to be their pilot and thus gave them power they needed to defeat Black Sun. If not for him - Civil War would continue on.
6th Gear is a tricky one, because there is not much we know about it. As far as I understand - people of 6th gave Vajra to Izumo's grandfather to control Vritra and he couldn't do it.
7th Gear is a tricky one too. They choose to gave their Concept Core to Low-Gear because they take interest in it. You could say Chao triggered they whole plan because of her inexpirienced body modification techniques.
I'll gave you 8th Gear.
Ninth Gear tries to activate their concept dragon and it goes berserk and is killed by the Ninth Gear king pretending to be a Low Gear citizen.
Zahhak never goes berserk, it was destroyed by their king siding with Low Gear because it was a weapon of mass destruction. It was preemptive strike kinda like with Top-Gear.
>Tenth Gear was destroyed by Ragnarok when Tenth Gear citizens stole the concept core from those in power.
Not exactly. 10th Gear citizens sent concepts out of control to devour world tree, but 10th Gear gods gave Izumo grandafther Gungnir to destroy the world tree and the world with it. They kinda make him responsible.
So as you can see if not for Low-Gear involvement most of the worlds would still continue to exist at least for some time.
And normally that would be enough, in-universe justifications be damned. We should be glad that Kawakami at least has plausible in-universe mechanisms by which Japan STRONG happens, instead of forcing it by authorial fiat.
Well, they still ended up with all the Concept cores in their world. If I had been a survivor of one of the destroyed Gears I'd be at least a little suspicious of how they were acquired.
But yeah, Low Gear did nothing wrong and it's kind of silly how angry everyone is at them for winning. I guess they're mostly just sore losers.
When does the latest book come out?
It's about as plausible as the MC being born with the talent of the greatest 10 martial heroes combined.
It's not even that strange, it's just that the Japanese islands happen to be a
crossing point for leylines.
Next book comes out on the 8th of next month. Or 10th. Usually 8th.
Well what do you know, 10th this time.
Oh god, it's going to be a monster.
very convenient coincidence. just like the MC having a super special power.
Do they fug?
there are no translated doujins of those two
there is only one translated doujin of the witches
no translated automated doll doujins
no translated sensei doujins
almost all the translated doujins are of toori having consensual heterosexual sex, with most of the remaining ones being tenzou with mary
And what you want him to do? Have a story set in America with all American characters like in all American media? You couldn't possibly blame Japanese author for having a convoluted reason to put a story in his home country.
Its about as coincidental as Bumblebee, the first of the autobots to arrive, being in America in the Bayformers movies.
Or Hollywood changing the setting of movie adaptations to America just because they want to.
u cant blame them desu
anime have 2 season only
Think it the other way around, if the protagonist didn't have any special power his life would be normal, but there's a story precisely because he has those power. It could be anyone else.
