He's literally the reason the plot can even advance. He's the one that actually makes the technical shit, Okabe is basically just the idea guy.

Daru was also the only reason they figured out ANYTHING about SERN's true intentions since he hacked into them. He also saved them from the Alpha worldline by deleting the data SERN has on everyone.

Daru is honestly the most important character but he doesn't get any of the spotlight because of all the time travel shit Okabe does. Okabe literally wouldn't have been able to do shit without Daru, including even making the time machine.

Having Okabe be actually a genius would remove a lot of his charm. Daru is underrated in the storyline DESU

He can do pretty much anything with regard to computers, to the point that Okabe can just go and ask "Daru, hack that". Frankly, it bothers me a little bit, since they never really explained in detail how/why he got so good at that...

His role in S;G 0 is much more interesting though, there he actually does stuff by himself instead of just being "bossed" around.

Steins;Gate is the only anime adaptation worth watching out of the Sci;Adv series. It stands on its own two legs as a stand alone product, even if it did have to cut out a good chunk of content in order to fit the story into the shows runtime.

Robotic;Notes had a strong start but fell apart in the second half sicne they struggled to adapt everything from episode 12 forwards. Chaos;Heads anime is just 100% pure shit and you shouldn't watch it at all.
