WSJD - Shokugeki no Souma

I think I don't like this manga anymore.

Last chapter ended with Erina coming to Souma's room right? I'm not paying that much attention anymore, let's see when I ultimately forget about it.

...

...

...

I watched a bit of the anime. It looks like SAO but with cooking. Does it get better?

...

...

...

they living together now?

...

...

It's not like that at all, but whatever.

It is a good series, then it becomes a slog. The anime hasn't gotten to where it becomes a slog, and that drop off point is very sudden.

...

...

So Azami never once cooked for her or his cooking is shit? Believable.

WSJD Shokugeki no Souma 168 DDL: www32.zippyshare.com/v/5U6zcPDR/file.html

I've identified one big issue I have with Shokugeki no Souma that applies to the entire series: there's virtually no breathing room.

>arc ends
Cooking battle
>mini arc ends
Cooking battle
>ends
>Cooking with kids or something whatever

We don't get time to see characters relaxing very often, we don't see characters outside of PSD except for during cooking scenes and such, it's extremely difficult to get invested in the cast. I find it really, really hard to care about anything, Souma included and he's the character we see the most.

I know it's a cooking manga, so cooking, but it gets tiring and it feels like the characters aren't real because all they seem to care about is cooking. You can say ">complaining about realism in (this) manga" but suspension of disbelief can go a long way.

Whatever.

World Trigger

shounen cooking

I'll give it one more chapter. If he makes a trademark Yukihira horrible dish I'll continue reading.

you know where ALL OF THAT IS?

side material

I am disgusted.

buy it all goy!

Has something happened recently in the manga?

I think it was probably around 5-6ish months ago I was still actively in the threads and everybody was excited for the new scans and the threads were huge. Haven't kept up with it for a long time, though. The art is too good for anything to have spoiled this in that time, right?

Great chapter

LN translations never again.

just hang in there user, it would get better.

A big bad was introduced and he's fucking horrible. He made the manga overly serious and changed the entire vibe and format of the manga. It honestly fucking sucks right now, and there are a lot of problems with it.

Pic related.

>I've identified one big issue I have with Shokugeki no Souma that applies to the entire series: there's virtually no breathing room.
Way the go slowpoke.

That.

Kimetsu no Yaiba

People hate based Azami.

A big event is coming right, it's going to be daijobu. R-right?

This was before Azami I think.

That's precisely why it won't be alright.

Things will only be alright when things go back to normal.

MEGLOOGUMMY FAGS ON DEATH ROW.

>I came to your room before I knew what I was doing.
where's this doujin

Azami is funny

Megumi still best girl and will win Soumabowl

>people think that Soumabowl is even winnable at this state

we got to get him out of cooking autism before he ever begins to notice girl's feelings

So this is when they were arranging the marriage?

She runaway from her mansion and started to live in polar star few months ago

Mehgloomyfags on suicide watch

>implying anyone but Erina ever had a chance

They failed to protect her smile

Who's responsible for this poorly written fanfiction? Or is there actual side material that supports this?

Shitty new editor

that fucking pose

Azami was introduced before the new editor

I actually liked this chapter a lot. It feels like Erina is an actual character now, instead of a caricature. Having her admit she's lost is great. I'm ready for Souma's HEALING dishes.

I stopped liking it the moment edge dad entered.

Even as it was happening no one liked it. We hadn't even gotten to see the other Elite 10 in action before this blindsided us and the first thing we found out was that they were traitors.
The Azami administration jumped the shark hard. Even fucking Tsukasa is a letdown.

>cooking manga
>tired of cooking

Suspension of disbelief is a meme directly related to the lack of SoL, I'd guess.

Erina is melting and she is right now alone with Souma in his room.

And he's about to give her the famous Yukihira dish

I fucking go away from Sup Forums for a few months to focus on college and come back to Erina STILL btfoing mehgloomy and her fags

Have you fucking worshiped Erina-sama today?

None of those posts are even mehgloomyfags aside from the one guy who posted her(probably) you dumb shipper.
The forced rivalry is just annoying at this point. The threads aren't that active anymore to facilitate shitposting.

t.mehgloomyfag

>t.
Fuck off shitposter.

>Hype up the ELITE 10's to be much greater than Souma
>10 chapters later Souma BTFO out of one
>It was so garbage the author had to use the NO 1 to set things right again

Why did I even expect you to read.

Y-you're not upset are you mehgloomyfag?

>trying to falseflag

I enjoyed his over the top chunni antics at the start but yeah.
Ruins arc we are in(moon festival), screws up dynamic only into autumn, sets us into a path not needed, etc

basically, give me something other than cooking so that when cooking happens I really give a shit

RIP MEGFAGS

Thanks again Vizanon, like said it's all in the LNs and shit, which to everyone here is ridiculous but from WSJ's perspective it makes perfect sense.

Kids have low retention rates and they probably think that they need to keep up the 'action' (Naturally I don't agree seeing as cooking is barely more action than SOL but hey their POV) and they think the SOL lovers are all older, who will fork out the cash for the side material.

I dropped it after Eizan lost because Souma said 'ur a feget' and used ketchup. Did he dick Erina yet?

you're right, just wish it wasn't like this

You can get away with SoL/development in WSJ manga (see World Trigger, for example), but it's not going to be as popular. It's risky.

are you guys saying who is the best girl for Souma or just who you like best?

Because if you are defending the ship you are pretty much protecting your cuck fantasy.

It's a bit different for World Trigger user, because WT has real action. Like action action. So the spikes basically keep up retention kinda like a roller coaster ya know? It's why One Piece is so successful despite having a lot of non-combat scenes and just randumb silliness.

But Shokugeki? It's a series that's carried by Tosh's porn art, and other than having cute chibis like Alice making faces at times, the direction has clearly been to be 'cool'. It's hard to be cool to the young readers if you slow down the pace and not battle for a few chapters because even during battle the kids apparently aren't all that impressed (I believe if you check the WSJ ranking threads it usually reflects that the non-Soma male cooking battles get jack shit rankings) so they are probably scared.

Ironically enough, it'd probably go over better if they just stopped having so many guys take part at the top and have girls like Meat/Megumi slowly become top contenders, but with the way the story is written that's not possible in the near future.

TL;DR WSJ seems to want to push Shokugeki as a serious cooking manga to a much larger degree than what their readers want (mostly just want tits and ass duh).

They did seem to like Azami's introduction at least, so I don't actually know what the kids want.

Cause Azami appeared cool (to them). At least before everything else happened. This might be presumptuous of me to say, but for Shokugeki there's only so much you can change cooking before kids get a bit bored of it.

Even with real fighting action in manga, authors regularly rely on things such as time skips and power escalation in order to keep interest on non RomCom/SOL/comedy/etc series, but Shokugeki isn't aiming to be those things, it's aiming to be a 'battle shonen' first, while the Romcom/SOL/comedy come second just like battle shonen do.

I mean people really liked Kurokiba at first, remember the first tournament? Even guys on Sup Forums liked him to an extent, mainly cause he was an angry kid with an otter build and sharp teeth. Not saying they hate him now but it's nowhere near before once the hype died down.

I guess hype is all that matters if you're not fan service, but that's mainly due to Tosh's drawing skills at making everyone look bad ass.
