pol\ I need a dump of all of your firearm stats, graphs, and info graphs. I cant seem to find anything but wa po and guardian articles about the evil guns.

Im in a psychology class and the entire class agrees that guns are evil and so on. You guys had some great graphs based on FBI stats.

There are multiple studies that have said that more guns means more gun homicides and more homicides overall. But how can that stack up to the overall trend which is a negative correlation.

makes me think these ((studies)) are twisitng data and looking at short term trends.

Don't feel like digging through my big ass folder to find gun stats. This one sitting on desktop though for some reason so you can have it.

>mandatory weapon in house
God damn that seems like fucking common sense, why is it so hated by the (((media)))?

common argument:

The USA has the most guns per capita of any nation - and as a result the highest homicide rate.
Any time you see a correlation just stuck onto a statistic be very cautious. That said, is this even true. Nope. Turns out both Israel and Switzerland have much higher rates of ownership. The choice of ownership in those countries are military weapons.
There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. Of those, around 60% are suicides. About 3% are accidental deaths (between 700-
800 deaths). About 34% of deaths (just over 11,000 in both 2010 and 2011) make up the remainder of gun deaths and are classified as homicides.
Sometimes the 32,000 and 11,000 figures are used interchangeably by gun control advocates. Clearly, the 32,000 figure is a far more dramatic number
and it is often used for impact by anti-gun activists.
In New Orleans, between 35-55% of homicides are classified as gang-related. In Chicago, an estimated 80% of homicides are gang-related. And in
Baltimore, the police commissioner states that 80% of homicides are drug-related.
Solve the problem of gang violence, and a huge chunk of the gun homicide and violence problem is solved. And what national gun control measures
would slow the gang violence problem, when local gun control laws have failed in cities like Chicago? If politicians were really worried about gun deaths, wouldn't they be specifically targeting where a majority of the problems exist?

A much better measure of gun ownership would be the percentage of the population owning guns, and not the number of guns per 100 people
the issue is whether people have access to guns, not the number of guns greater than one that an individual has access to.

Comparing the number of guns per capita in USA to Britain - USA looks bad (USA 88/100 ownership and more deaths)
Comparing Switzerland to Britain - Britain looks bad (Switzerland 47/100 gun ownership, lower gun deaths)
Israel is listed as 7/100 gun ownership, but that is ridiculously low and incorrect - most Israelis have a gun, but it is technically owned by the
government since service is mandatory and they return home with it.
Men age 18 - 42 keep their military rifle at home - after 42 they petition to keep it as their own.

Both Israel and Switzerland have higher gun ownership rates than the USA but stats gathered incorrectly exclude government owned guns.
Despite Israel and Switzerland having very high gun possession rates, their firearm homicide rates are extremely low. Switzerland had a firearms homicide rate of 0.77 per 100,000 people and Israel has a rate of just 0.09 per 100,000.

Because guns come alive at night and kill people.

How do you rate violent crime like rape and assault to gun deaths - including when the bad guy gets shot?

Why did you count it as a bad thing when a woman shot her rapist? Do you not believe women should defend themselves?

What about elderly, kids and the average American citizen who successfully fought back against violent crime?

In 1865, Eliza Frances Andrews said, "The most polite gathering, is a room full of armed men".

No they don't.

One has to be very careful in making comparisons across countries because numbers are not always comparable. For example, homicides in England and Wales are not counted the same as in other countries. Their homicide numbers typically “exclude any cases which do not result in conviction, or where the person is not prosecuted on grounds of self defence or otherwise” .
Gun homicides tend to most likely involve gang fights that are much more difficult to solve.

Using only people who were arrested (not just convicted) would lower the US murder rate to 2.26 per 100,000.

If the Unites States is relatively more accurate in measuring its homicide rate and other countries try to hide their rates, it will look make it
look like the US has a relatively higher rate than it actually does. Take two examples.

Mexico has the highest firearms homicide rate, with a rate about 3 times higher than the US rate. Brazil’s and Russia’s are much higher, though
Russia does not report firearm homicides so it is only a guess for that country.

There are many countries that clearly have higher gun homicide rates than the United States that don’t have data available. Indeed, while 192
countries report total homicides, only 116 countries report firearm homicides. The bottom line is that the countries that are missing the data are among the worst homicide countries.

Much of the gun violence/deaths, in America, is drug/gang-related. Indeed, almost 100 percent of the gun violence in Walla Walla is due to gangs. We
have a gang problem, not a gun problem, and disarming millions of responsible gun owners isn’t the solution.

i live on a country were they ban guns... now only criminals have them, so this is too accurate

Anti-gun BS: It is time to have a discussion about gun control.

Truth: It is no more time to discuss this than it is time to discuss controlling freedom of speech or religion. This discussion happened hundreds of years ago by our founding fathers who knew about about fighting for your freedoms.

Anti-gun BS: The 10 day wait period is to prevent people from buying a gun while they are emotional and killing someone with it.

Truth: If this was truly the reason for the 10 day wait period, then it would not apply to purchasing your second gun. If someone owns a gun, then I do not see how any logical person could possible say "cooling down" emotionallyis the reason for a 10 day wait period on gun number2. Any emotionally charged person would simply use the gun they already own. So ask yourself, why do logical people oppose getting rid of the 10 day wait period after the first gun is purchased? The reason can only be that they lied about the reason for the law. The true reason must be something else - namely the progression of eliminating all guns by lying to the American people as they pass bill after bill under false pretenses.

Anti-gunBS: "The USA has a gun problem."

Truth: The USA has a violent thugproblem.

The USA has about 32,000 gun deaths per year

60% or 19,200 are suicides. Taking away the stigma of suicide being a bad thing. Many people choose suicide to end suffering. If we put a suffering animal to sleep we are being humane. Why do we not offer the same humanity to suffering humans? If you think suicide is terrible, just remember people have many different options available for suicides if you take away their guns. Japan has one of the largest suicides rates of a country and does not allow citizens to own guns at all. South Korea has a very high suicide rate as well The US suicide rate is roughlythe same as Great Britain, Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, and Iceland and well below France and Greenland. Suicide rates have nothingto do with the availability or accessibility of guns.

32,000 total gun deaths - 19,200 suicides = 12,800 left

gun control is just to manipulate the weak

Anti-gunBS: "The founding fathers never imagined modern military styled assault rifles."

Truth: This is pure ridiculousness. There were already repeating firearms when the civil war was being fought. The founding fathers would definitely have heard of these weapons even though they were new to the world.

What our founding fathers never imagined is the great disparity between the power of the federal military and the common people. What they likely never imagined were F-16 fighter jets, air craft carriers, nuclear submarines and Abrams tanks. If they had imagined it, they certainly would not try to weaken the common man by limiting firearm types and ammunition capacities.

Only problem with the picture is that the criminal isn't a nigger.

Anti-gun BS: "Gun control laws save lives."

Truth: Gun laws are not about saving lives they are about promoting a liberal big government ideology. There are many gun laws that have been made into law that endanger people and not save them.

Banning gun with heat-shields, a heat shield just protects users from getting burned by a hot barrel?
Banning hollow point ammunition that is meant protect bystanders from over penetration. This endanger innocent bystanders for no reason.
Banning body armor. Body armor just protects lives.
If policy was made based on the number of lives saved, then we would regulate how chemicals are stored under your kitchen sink. You would have to get a license and background check to install a swimming pool. Far more kids are killed each year by improperly stored household chemicals or drowned in pools than with firearms.

Anti-gunBS: 10 round magazines is more than anyone will ever need.

Truth: Nationwide, law enforcement officers who get involved in shootings have a hit ratio of only around 20%. That means that 80% of their bullets do not hit the attackers! Police ae required to practice regularly with their gun and qualify shooting proficiency. So if we assume that the average citizen will do much worse, it means that if police hit 2 out of 10 shots, the average citizen will hit around 0 - 1 shots. With 20 or 30 round magazines allowed survival of the victim goes way up.

Anti-gunBS: "Australia banned all guns and it worked out great for them, so we should too."

Truth: Australia still has mass shootings and Australia is rapidly becoming a police state.

They allow unfettered surveillance of its citizens including phone, SMS, email and metadata.
The government manipulates the media has ministers against the media
Arrests people for pre-crime, merely on suspicion they my commit a crime in the future.
Incarcerates people for indefinite periods without a trial
And yes they stripped the citizens of a method to revolt by taking away their guns.

>mfw suppressors are banned because of Hollywood movies
Just fuck my hearing up

The USA is the greatest country on Earth! A country built on freedoms and a government that serves the people - not the reverse. We should not degrade ourselves by comparing ourselves to other countries, rather it is other countries that should strive to be like us!

Maybe a survey page where we can give the make and model?

Confirmed mind reader.

Anything and everything can be used as a weapon.

I am for unfettered access to guns, but I hate that argument from op's pic, it's retarded propaganda. You can apply it to any fucking law.

Hurr durr if murder is illegal then only criminals will murder so why have laws lololololol

Forget that bullshit. The fact is that guns exist, people do have guns, there is no way to reset that. And as such, all free people should be allowed to reasonably defend themselves, from wildlife, and from other people if necessary.

There's no argument to be made that hinges on the premises that people can not be trusted with guns that can not also be used to show how (at least some) people very clearly need guns to protect themselves.

It's not saying we should have no laws, its saying we shouldn't have laws that won't actually stop crime, and will only affect people who aren't the problem.

No one actually makes sure that you stop at a stop sign, yet it's the law that you must stop at one.
The law serves to create order, and to keep honest people honest. An individual only gets punished after breaking the law. Nothing can stop them from breaking it.

A law saying you must stop at a stop sign is necessary because the vast majority of people will follow it in order to be safe.
Most gun laws are unnecessary because the people they intend to target with then have no regard for them, so the only people they will affect are peaceful individuals who aren't committing crimes in the first place.

Looks Abo now

You should follow NZ's gun laws, but you're all about the second amendment and any argument for or against results in a massive 'muh guns' chimpout.
