This, pretty much. Disney is cramming Star Wars and Marvel chock full of "diversity" and it's killing them. The toy store shelves are still crammed full of unsold Star Wars merchandise. Marvel Comics is tanking hard. The Marvel movies haven't been hit as much by it yet, but they will be. This big push for "diversity" was planned to coordinate with a Clinton administration and Justice Department, and now it's falling flat. People don't want to watch propaganda, especially poorly made pandering propaganda. Movie ticket sales are down, Star Wars is dying as a brand even as they keep pumping out movies. When their profits fall below a certain point, the shareholders will demand a changing of the guard and the current crop of Social Justice Warriors in charge will be tossed out on their asses. It may take awhile, though. My suggestion is to look up old movies and watch them. Aside from the effects, even B movies from a few decades ago are better than the box office crap they're pumping out now.

I'm learning to accept that the stuff I like, like Star Wars and Star Trek and even Firefly, are products of their time and reflect the culture they were made in more than anything. They had a 35 the anniversary showing of Wrath of Kahn in the theater this month. It was the directors cut, meaning it had the extra footage from when it was aired on ABC. There were just eight guys total who did the special effects. Shatner and company were B list tv actors in the time of the original series, but I kept thinking they were like Lawrence Oliver compared acting in most modern film.
