They're trendy as all fuck and well marketed and backed by Sony. Apparently they might have fucked up on the 2nd Kizumonogatari part though as Toho doesn't list it anywhere on it's site for upcoming Summer movies and it's supposed to be out in theaters in August

This is I think Keit Ai is best anime ever.
Aniplex ruined and ran her into the ground like they did Sawano. Both are trendy hacks meant to sell some CD's based on past banked success and popularity with fanboys and by being attached to guaranteed popular projects. Sawano hasn't had a decent soundtrack since Shingeki no Kyojin, Kajiura was passable with the Madoka movie but hasn't really had anything that's stood out since Kara no Kyokai. There are far more interesting composers out there nowadays like Yuuki Hayashi and Shiro Hamaguchi but they just don't have the same kind of banked fanboyism and vocal collaboration tie-ups around them so they never get noticed. It sucks that people have such shitty one dimensional Sony propaganda influenced taste in anime BGM now.

It feels like far longer than that and their absence has been felt. I said if Love Live got successful it'd kind of ruin the company future production wise and now indeed it looks like they kind of don't have to make TV series anymore considering the insane popularity of Love Live and enduring popularity of Gundam. They and Bamco can practically live off the royalties and re-releases of old titles as well as a steady stream of Love Live and iDOLM@STER CD releases for a while now which is kind of what they've been doing. Now Bamco has GuP too. Eventually they'll have to work again though but for now TV anime just doesn't seem like something they are concerned with. Right now that's more the dominion of studios that need to take on constant contract work adapting light novel shit for meager otaku audiences to stay solvent.
Shaft makes good comedies. Their style fits it pretty well.

I just checked, and in the last three years, Sunrise has actually had the same amount of new TV anime IPs as SHAFT (and their only non-TV new anime IPs were two music videos and two one-off shorts), despite having twice as many TV series overall in that period. And SHAFT is shat on regularly for not doing enough things that aren't Monogatari.
Probably just because Shaft is more trendy, talked about and shitposted than Sunrise among the newfag Crunchyroll crowd that dominates internet anime discussion now so they get both more criticism and praise. Despite being a prolific hitmaker and storied studio in Japan they might as well be invisible to most Western Internet shitposters thanks to their tendency to keep everything Daisuki exclusive and the fact that Western shitposters have a weird hate on for watching mecha titles that don't slap Gen Urobuchi's name all over their promotion.
They don't make good anything as long as Aniplex is involved with them.
