Big announcement could be either a spinoff series (prequel stories on other UQ characters would be worth a read)

It's not the first time that would happen. GTO got an anime while Shonan Junai Gumi didn't (besides those OVA).
The first volumes of UQ holder don't rely too much on negima so it shouldn't be a problem if they are doing a 12 episodes anime.

Rakan is from the Hellas race, Al has always been very old, we don't exactly know what he is. We don't know what happened to them when they fought the Lifemaker.

It's not necessary to be timeline B where Asuna oversleeps. The only certain thing now is she is sealed, but for all we know, Touta can wake her up in the next arc to add her to his harem.
Yue and Nodoka can be rekted by Eva, Zazie or Mana without problems. Touta is probably stronger than them too.

Those 2 went from 0 to pretty damn strong in just like 1 year in Negima, who knows if and how much they continued to grow in strength after that.

They are good as supports. Nodoka can read mind and Yue is wikipedia, with decent combat skills. She can take care of shit like Kirie. Cutlass deal with Touta while Negi, Rakan and Al deal with the big guns of Eva's team and Fate.

Yue has some game. Assuming she beat a bunch of s-class dudes in the actual tournament, and that s-class back then isnt much different from s-class now, she might actually be pretty decent.

The problem with this manga is the underdevelopment of certain characters (Karin/Santa) and the overdevelopment of others (Kirie). Negima was much better in this regard. Santa has literally done nothing since joining UQ despite being more useful than most of them.

Chao is in another timeline where Negi got married. He never got married in the UQ Holder universe, so there is no Chao.

There was still an Asuna sleeping in the epilogue timeline too. So at some point the epilogue will have two Asunas running around assuming her long lifespan is accurate and also assuming that an infinite number of Chaos are not recursively ferrying Asunas around the timelines.

Time line A is the Good End in Negima, where Asuna is around to save Nagi.
Timeline B is the Asuna Sleeps End. Or possibly the True End.
Timeline C was the no Chao timeline, where Chao was never a member of Negi's class and so Negi never saved Mars.
UQ Holder is heading down Timeline B (which is why I called it the True End), but it might veer off into a separate timeline.
