1080p or 720p?

1080p or 720p?

Whatever matches your monitor.

Which is better be atleast 1080p you fucking pleb

10800p all the way.

1080p, I mean, come on!
Do they even sell 720 monitors anymore?

Depends on the show
>Currently airing
720
>BD and I really like it
1080
>BD and it's okay
720

Correct.

>Currently airing, except if it's from funi
fixedespecially4u

>Do they even sell 720 monitors anymore?
not 720p, but they do still sell sub 1920x1080 monitors and laptops.

When airing, it depends on the resolution it's produced at.

Most anime are produced at 720p while 480p and 1080p are downscales and upscales respectively. Few anime are aired at 1080p e.g Hyouka.

Check anibin for these resolutions. Some are a bit wonky in which case you just get the least upscaled one.

When BDs are released, get the 1080p if possible. i believe SZS's BDs are in 720p, 1080p would be an upscale then.

720p

laptop poorfag here

>10800p

IT'S SO FUCKING CRISP

AGH MY PUPILS ARE BLEEDING

Depends on alot of factors, devoid of these ill go 1080p if space isnt an issue

720p. It takes less space and I hardly see any difference with how badly animated current shows are.

1440p plebs

1080p for KyoAni and big budget Movies/OVA

>he doesnt watch anime in 4k 144 fps 3 monitor

>1920x1080 laptops

kek barely laptops are forever stuck at 1366×768 cause of da jews

>meanwhile cellphones are pushing 4K on 5-inch screens
>8k soon
>battery life is still shit
What went so wrong

If you're watching stuff that's airing, 720p. If you're watching stuff that is airing, and it's a stream rip like Horrible-Subs, go for 1080p. The 720p from CR, for example, is a re-encoded 1080p. For BD, go for 720p for series and 1080p for movies. Series are rarely animated at 1080p, so it's kind of a waste.

but 100800 is better

1080p releases are upscales. There is no difference between the 1080p release and just watching the 720p one on a 1080p monitor.

What kind of fuzzy bush math is that?

1080p, internet is fast, I don't have to care about the size.
If it's just upscale or whatever problem it has, it can't be worse than 720p anyway.

The vast masjority of your chinese cartoons were drawn at 720p, so if you're watching with 1080p resolution:
>Fullscreen 720p
Your video player scales it up on the fly to match your resolution
>Fullscreen 1080p
It has been scaled up to match your resolution in advance

>The vast masjority of your chinese cartoons were drawn at 720p,
Do you have any evidence to back that claim up?

I tend to get 1080 for movies, 720 for TV

I need more storage really, might have to bite the bullet and get a 4-6 bay NAS

1080p is just a waste of time of space for everyone involved, as well as a way to divide the number of torrent seeders. There isn't such minute detail in anime in the first place that you'd need higher resolutions to appreciate, unless it's a CG scene with particle effects or something of the like which doesn't actually matter.

...

This.

1080p is usually just upscales 720p, so a complete waste of space.

That was true several years ago. But Sup Forums never fact-checked again and now it's blatantly false. Stop repeating it. See .

How do you know it's downscaled?

Shouldn't it come to them in 720p?

Why should they get 3 files if they can just get one file and resize it themselves?

I assumed they would get one 720p master from the studio and transcode the other two from that.

But anime is mastered at 1080p. Even if it isn't made at 1080p, it's still mastered at that resolution.
And anime is usually made at >720p. Even if 1080p is an upscale, 720p is a downscale.
