According to Al-Masdar News field correspondent Ibrahim Joudeh, the SAA wrestled control of Shuwyha village after engaging ISIS militants throughout the night.

This advance notably has the SAA within striking distance of slicing adrift ISIS’ pocket, thereby ending the Islamic State’s reign in central Syria for good.

Although a partial evacuation deal took place last week, ISIS still controls around 20 villages across the provincial border between Hama and Homs as most jihadist fighters refused to leave the region at the time.
