Lads, how long til we get another classic anime again?

Lads, how long til we get another classic anime again?

You know, one of these where you could actually make an argument to anyone that it's good entertainment regardless of the medium it is home to.

You know, the shin sekai yoris, the uchouten kazokus, the ping pongs, the mushishis, the tatami galaxies... I feel like it's been quite a few seasons since we got one.

If other people can't appreciate anime as is, it's their problem not mine.

Rakugo aired literally last season.

come on dude i'm the same as you, i literally watch every piece of crap that airs be it kumamiko pedo beastiality shit or battle harem no. 25, but at the end of the day we get even more enjoyment or at least a different, rare sort enjoyment (that tokubetsu feel wink wink) out of a really good anime

Fuck off.

>Rakugo
problem is, i'm neither gay nor a fat hambeast.

You're just a retard, probably autistic.

Classic mature anime fan.

shinsekai yori is bad

NOW

...

>i don't like having a dick in a butt
>"grow up user, only immature plebs can't appreciate the tingling sensation of having a cock shoved up their arsehole"

For fuck's sake, proper capitalization and punctuation isn't that hard.
Fuck off until you can type like an adult.

You think Rakugo is gayshit but you don't have a problem with SSY?

You mean like a show with an actual sense of purpose that just aims at being a good show with interesting characters in the traditional sense and where everything isn't just designed around selling event tickets and music to the point where the basics of making good entertaining television are entirely ignored? Little Witch Academia TV seems like a plausible bet. Also as someone else mentioned there's Rakugo. I wouldn't hold my breath on too much else though in an industry thoroughly dominated by the whims of the likes of Aniplex, Kadokawa and like minded producers.

Shinsekai Yori is not a classic in any way shape or form. To be a classic it has to be loved either

1)Japanese Normalfags
2)Western Normalfags

SSY flopped in Japan, and in the west it's only popular on obscure anime forums.

Other options he could have gone with include "normie" and "tumblrwhale". Whenever you want to immediately drag a thread way off topic and just make it as stupid as possible those are increasingly popular standby's

This season I really liked Luluco, Tanaka-kun, and Flying Witch. I think Luluco is up there in classic territory for me. It all depends on your taste.

I will never understand Trigger fans.

thats just a niche anime which caters to a specific crowd. you cant really say that it's an overall good anime or that it is of any worth if you take a look at it outside of its medium

>Ping Pong
>Tatami Galaxy

Rakugo has no pandering besides it being about the relationship between two men. Which is totally platonic.

>I feel like it's been quite a few seasons since we got one.
We've only had three seasons since Non Non Biyori Repeat, user.

It's all subjective user. My wife's son really likes BnHA and calls it an instant classic.

What's so special about uchoten kazoku? It's just a bland drama with some supernatural nonsense thrown in. Other than that it's been almost completely forgotten in just 3 years.

Why? It has all the tenants of a beautiful story of purpose and legacy. The only knock against it is that it's weird that it's an anime at all rather than something live action.

wow dude you sure deserve a lot of respect for writing a+ essays on bathroom walls

protip: noone cares here, it's artistic freedom

why would you think im op?

There is no way a regular person could get into Tatami Galaxy

user, this may come as a shock, but "period piece drama" is not something that's considered niche.

whyz U get so mab man itz just riting ; on the interwebz!??! youb no we aintz gettin graded fo this wite?!?

We just had Rakugo last season

Nobody actually likes Tatami Galaxy; it's boring as shit. People only pretend to like it because they think they'll look smart by saying they like it because of its artsy style.

Re:Zero is airing right now.

>mfw an Anonymous calls a "chinese cartoon for gay manchildren and drooling overweight fujoshits" a "period piece drama"

This.

Also, we're getting a Space Battleship Yamato sequel and a Legend of the Galactic Heroes remake next year.

...

This is the case for most shitty 3x3 bait shows. The other option is things that are literally too boring for sane people to watch like Rakugo, so they flock to them because there's nobody to call them out on their shit taste.

There's your mildew, user. You're too jaded and failed to see that while Rakugo has some fujoshi appeal, there's nothing in the content itself that any normalfag watching would be able to pick up on as pandering to people who schlick to gays. Nothing in it panders.

>noone cares here

Evidently some do.

>it's artistic freedom

Go back to your tumblr hugbox and shove dildos up your ass for the artistic merit if you want that kind validation.

This nigga serious?

>i'm

so it's like yuru yuri with lesbianism?

people only pretend they like it to look tolerant and nu-male by saying they love lesbians, when it's actually plotless trash and unfunny dykes behaving like retards.

So by classic you mean "anime I really like" right?

i'd love more frequent adaptations a proper novels. 2-cours, like Gankutsuou or Shin Sekai Yori itself.
also for novels there isn't an original character design (or a whole visual style) to stick to, so the staff-studio is free to express itself with its own vision.
Sadly it happens only once in a blue moon.

91 days maybe

>mouth-breathing plebs memeing on Tatami Galaxy and Rakugo

These threads always get my goat.

Re:Zero is a lot of fun and has excellent direction, but it very clearly appeals only to people who are already fans of anime.

>I don't like lesbians in my anime
>I'd rather watch porn with dicks than without dicks

first the autism boogieman, and now the tumblr boogieman? evidently you are the only one who cares, and i dont care about you. come on post that frog already dude

Reminder that ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

But when will we get a sequel to Kangoku Senkan?

It has all the makings of a classic, and should be a classic. We can call it an honorary classic if it never achieved the needed popularity for some reason.

Joker Game was a novel, wasn't it? The show is just kind of meh.

Get out of your bubble and watch Macross Delta.

Actual non-LN novel adaptations tend to work really well (Shiki, Another, SSY). Shame that Haruchika was so shitty.

>Euph S2
>Koe no Katachi
>VEG
>LWA
You are getting your classics alright

I don't think Mushishi really belongs in that group. It's too episodic to fit the kind of thing you mean. You're talking about stuff like KLK, Kyousougiga, etc.

I feel like we came really close with BokuMachi but it just ended up getting too shitty after the first half. Should have stuck to the "save the girl" romance and had a cute reunion ending, but it kept changing its mind about what kind of story it wanted to tell.

There's a ton of good shit being released every season. You just don't find it because you don't actually like anime.

Is Hyouge Mono a masterpiece?

Its sleeping pills made for girls. Moreso the sleeping pills.

>Flying Witch
>7.2 on MAL

Try again

To be honest OP, I too feel a lack of "mature/serious" anime these days. Thankfully we have Jojo this season which is helping to raise the bar, but most of the rest of what's airing is far too juvenile for my taste.

Luluco has too much of an Inferno Cop/Ninja Slayer brand "ironic" vibe to normalfags even though its a great show.

The slow as fuck first 3 episodes are a bitch.

>MAL
Don't do that

>MAL

Normalfags would be turned off by the first episode where a character implies that a 13-year-old girl is "sexy"

>Any show with two males being good friends is gay shit!

Rakugo's issue is being boring.

is this bait?

the only people i know who watch jojo are edgy 16 year olds who think it is art

chaoschildanime.com/

>JoJo
>not juvenile
Your sarcasm meter is clearly broken. Not even the guy you're replying to.

>you don't actually like anime

Here we go, classic Sup Forums trying to defend its Shittest Taste on the Internet by claiming that anyone with a modicum of discernment "doesn't like anime." Go fuck yourself.

user are you retarded? An average 8 year-old can fully comprehend jojo.

If there's one next season it'll be Battery or Mob Psycho 100. Fall has Flip Flappers and March Lion, both of which have that potential too. New Yamada and Katabuchi films this year. Winter had Rakugo, last year had Euphonium. We're in no shortage.

no it's actually more like this:

>grow up user, only immature plebs disregard a show based only on whether it contains characters whose sexuality is questionable

if you honestly can't see past one of the 2 protagonists possibly being gay i feel sorry for you user.

Yes

My point is that it's just a serious story with interesting characters and style, compared with most of the other shows which are just tired trope collages with uguu moe girls in them.

>Using MAL ratings as arguments.
MAL doesn't bother as much as it does most of Sup Forums but that's just silly user.

KlaK just aired, user.

Tatami Galaxy may be centered around the message to appreciate what you have in life rather than constantly yearning for something better, but it's also just a fun show. MC and Ozu's antics are very entertaining.

>i share this very same board with people who unironically think jojo, klk and hibikek are great anime and belong in the same group as those op named

Jojo, KLK and Hibikek are great shows. They just don't offer the same level of intellectual engagement as the real classics, but there's nothing wrong with that. Not every show needs to be fodder for deep critical analysis.

...

A-1 pictures needs to do another anime original. They have some talented people and can really do incredible things when they put resources into it.

>Hibike
>not intellectual

Hibike is VERY intellectual. Forget anyone who says otherwise.

ah thats good to know, thanks for sharing the criteria.

then kiznaiver, himouto, hundred and asterisk are all great shows as well.

man anime is so great, there are a few good shows each season, but overall 9/10 shows are great.

i love japan period.

user, posting a meme instead of articulating a reply doesn't do you any favors.

I loved Hibike. The show has some compelling themes. It's just not quite as thought-provoking as a true classic.

Euphonium is easily as well written as the best of those shows in OP's list.

You're gonna have multiple next season, and then you faggots get March Comes in Like a Lion in Fall.

Maybe I'll give you a serious reply when you learn how to properly format your posts.

>thanks for sharing the criteria

I didn't share any criteria, user. Let me do so, so that you can cease your hysterical strawmanning.

I consider KLK and Jojo great shows because they do action-comedy exceptionally well, and Hibike is a very competently made slice-of-life.

Shows can be great within their genre without being a 10/10 classic for all time.

Eh, I wouldn't call it quite as well written as Tatami Galaxy, thanks to the way Tatami Galaxy plays with narrative structure.

Hibike's great, though, don't get me wrong.

>tfw I used a dictionary in my life
>tfw I know this pic in fact implies that Yuasa isn't pretentious (at least according to the normal definition of the word) and that calling him pretentious is just giving it a second definition
>mfw I have no face and no name beside Anonymous

>make around 10 identical episodes
>finish series with a tired old theme Welcome to the NHK already did better
>make the visual style artsy looking
>laugh as pretentious "intellectuals" praise its "narrative structure"

It's called Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.

Well, at least you found a way to make yourself feel superior about it.

Sorry, user, but Euphonium just isn't quite as creative, or as good.

Maybe in a few thousand years, after the Kali Yuga has ended, a civilization will develop a style similar to anime and use it to make something good. Until then, the age in which classics can be made has come to an end.

Not to put the two against each other, but where TG is very clever, Eupho manages to give a crazy amount of insight into a much bigger cast in around the same amount of time. It tackles its main themes from a ton of different angles and ties it all together perfectly while also being jaw-droppingly gorgeous and featuring some of the best digital technique across any tv anime.

Tatami Galaxy is still a masterpiece, I just campaign for Eupho harder because I want more people to "get it" on that level, instead of "oh it's good for its genre" or whatever. I love both dearly.
