The players signed away their first amendment rights. They aren't allowed to do full team 5 minute TD celebrations, for instance. They aren't allowed to wear what the want while travelling to their worksite. They aren't allowed to use non-sponsored equipment in any fashion. They aren't allowed to say certain words, on or off NFL time. Etc etc etc.

All Trump was saying was that these players are ruining the business and the owners should fire the guys costing them millions and ruining their business. Which is the normal thing you'd do in business.

Google was firing people for WHISTLEBLOWING on their corporate culture and how their hiring policies are taken by the majority of their workforce. In the case of Google, workers do not actually sign away their first amendment rights, unlike NFL players.

This is a complicated issue, there's certain things you can say/do that you should be fired for.

They still have first amendment rights. What they sign away is their freedom to excercise their rights while employed with the NFL. They still have the rights, but the NFL has the discretion to let them excercise those rights while in someone elses employ
