Honestly, I think this is still at least one of the top 5 anime ever made, perhaps even top 3 or top 2 even. Great dub as well.
Just howling in the shadooows

>dub
Opinion discarded.

A NIGHT SKY FULL OF CRIES

It would be if only season isn't so shit. The Ova should be the second season with more action and then hei and yin finaly be in a relationship then live happily ever after. Too bad japs are fucking dumb at story

I wouldn't even put it in the top 50 or even 100. If this show placed more focus on awesome Bones animated fight scenes then my opinion would greatly improve, but everything from the story to characters to setting is down right dull and uninteresting, and the way that is written to keep everything shrouded in mystery makes things worse.
tl;dr just skip this show all together and watch a few amv's of it on youtube, fight choreography is the only thing it has going for it.

It's boring as fuck, it does not have anywhere near the charisma it needs to get away with an episodic structure

I don't think it deserves top 5 either but you're just a faggot.

The second season was all Mari Okada's fault.

I only watched the first season and I thought it was okay. Not amazing or great.

If it weren't for the occasional person like OP, I would completely forget such a thing even exists.

Is there a world where people know the English voice actors? Like, are they well known with visitors of burgerland cons or so? How do they even get paid? I barely ever hear of anyone who downloads dubs (unless it just happens to be a BDrip from some anglo source or so with DA), let alone actually buying them. So were does the money come from? Is it all from TV broadcasters like [AS]?

Japanese voice actors make big profits, but the revenue streams are plentiful. The money from TV deals, merchandise, BD etc goes to the studio and from the studio a % goes to the VA. That is not how it works for english VA's though, since the money from merch and loli daki sales never trickles down to them.

Not to mention the terrible terrible anime you have to go through to make some money. Can you imagine not having to WATCH 600 (I really have no idea how many eps there are at this point) Naruto eps but having to VOICE them. Going through each episode, some of them probably more than once having to voice the awful characters. All memes aside, if you are 30 something years old, the last thing you want to do is watch Naruto.

Honestly being an English anime VA sounds like suffering.

I doubt you're even capable of forming opinions you twat. Keep drinking the Sup Forumsutist koolaid "dubs r shit evanghellliooon"

>Okada.
>Goes near a project.
>Project goes to shit, no matter how little the direct involvement is.
How?

Dubs are objectively worse, anglo VAs are less well trained, less well paid and less needed, all of that leads to a drop in quality when compared to nip VAs.
Some anglo dubs sound so bad you are better of just downloading the script and voicing it yourself.

I can only think of 1 anime of which the dub is superior and that would be black lagoon. Which has very little to do with the English dub being good, and more to do with too much "serious engrish" in the original for an anglo to suffer through. don't get me wrong, I love me some engrish and think it is adorable in most anime, but when you are portraying a serious character, in a serious anime, saying something serious and she does it in engrish, well, it just doesn't work.

Season 3 never :(

Watching dubs is the same kind of faggotry as streaming or watching anime at 2x speed. If you seriously think dubs are alright and you still call yourself an anime fan, you should kill yourself.
This is my genuine opinion.

All that was ever said was "Great dub as well". It was never stated that the dubs are superior to the original Japanese voice acting, just that the English dub is well-made, like a cherry on top.

Perhaps you ought to make more frequent trips outside of your musty dungeon, my dear user. 'Tis the outside world where you learn to socialise with others -- including how to correctly interpret writing, of course.

HEARTS FILLED WITH LIES

I should probably have said that I have nothing to do with the other user and merely felt like pointing out that dubs are overall the worse choice o
if you can read English at native speeds.

THE CONTRACT, IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?

I don't really remember much about it, but I know I dropped it partway through, so I probably disagree.

I need to rewatch this.
I remember literally nothing from it except the OP and that mc had an electrified whip or something.

Cor blimey, guv'nor! Well if nothing else, I do invite you to give it another go, mate.

You probably "dropped" it after S1 after which it stopped airing. Being such an abrupt open ending, it probably now feels like you dropped it in your faded memories. I know that this is how I feel about it.

A SOUL PLEDGED TO THE DARKNESS

>one of the top 5 anime ever made, perhaps even top 3 or top 2 even
I love Darker than Black but if you think that it's that good you clearly watched less than 500 series.

>dub
Oh, it seems that I took the bait.

NOW I'VE LOST IT

Lack of peers to shout down her stupid ideas is my guess. She doesn't have to listen if the other writers attached to the project are of a lesser level of fame.

I KNOW I CAN KILL

>Great dub

I mean, the first season and OVA aren't bad, but Top 5 anime is really stretching it.

So basically the George Lucas effect.

You're a retard. Okada wasn't in any chief position, she was just the scriptwrite, and actually for some of the less offensive episodes. The problem with S2 was Okamura being a faggot as he tends to be. Be glad he managed not to fuck up S1.

I wouldn't say ever made, but it is one of my top favorites.

THE TRUTH EXISTS BEYOND THE GATE

THE TRUTH EXISTS BEYOND THE GATE

>Honestly being an English anime VA sounds like suffering.

it is since most of them are failed hollywood actors/actresses

Well shit

>Okada.
>Goes near a project.
>Project goes to shit, no matter how little the direct involvement is.
>no matter how little the direct involvement is.
>no matter how little the direct involvement is.
Reading is not your forte I understand

Why would you feel like bringing up a completely random topic? You're pretentiousness is off the charts. Just kill yourself faggot.

>It's another "autistic faggot on Sup Forums sees the word 'dub' and gets triggered" thread.
Tumblr was right, I'm going to start adding trigger warnings to threads from now on.

They are voice actors for games and general cartoon shows, you really dont have too overthink it that much. Some are rather famous
Guess most think of it as a small job for good cash

The only DtB spinoff that's widely regarded as suffering from poor writing is S2 and that's the only one that Okada is involved in. If it was all Okamura's fault, then why isn't the OVA also routinely called shit? Or all the other spinoffs that Okamura's involved in?

>completely random
>dubs are being discussed (by you) well before I entered
Stop being an intentional idiot.

Okada inspires shitness. Her just being on the same project causes everyone else to perform less well. Maybe it is because they know everything she is involved in is viewed as shit, so their will to perform disappears the moment they know she will be involved.

(GUITAR RIFF)

She must have enough behind the scenes clout to be able to veto things she doesn't like and know it'll stick because the people above the director will listen to her. That'd definitely inspire coworkers to give up early and write the project off as a loss.

>oh noes, Okada is involved, welp time to put this on a low, minimum effort fire and prepare for the next project instead.
