If Catalonia's votes would otherwise increase leftist/communist representation in Spanish politics overall—rather like how Bretons in France, Californians in the US, and Scots in the UK always vote left—then in the midterm the rest of Spain would benefit from being rid of such a subversive element. They can always reconquista it a few decades later after it's been overran by niggers and Moslems.
