When does Bakemonogatari get good...

When does Bakemonogatari get good? I just finished the Mayoi Snail arc and honestly I'm finding the series to be insufferable, yet I've heard great things about it. Does it get better, or am I doomed to dislike it forever?

Tsubasa Cat > Suruga Monkey > Hitagi Crab > Mayoi Snail > Nadeko Snake

You got memed OP, you're fucked.
Also crab is best girl

>not enjoying the best arc in the show

The results are in. You have terminal shit taste, there is no recovery.

The next arc is pretty good 2bh pham

...

I can see it

If you aren't Japanese, you shouldn't bother watching it, you can never understand it on any meaningful level

I'm almost finished and this shit is kinda boring and barely makes sense.

yeah thats it, it doesnt really make sense, similar to SZS but more extreme

if you don't like it so far then you won't like anything in the series

and it's saying something when that season is the only good one in the series

If you don't like it after the arc after that, Suruga Monkey, then the series just isn't for you.

Monogatari is way easier the SZS, but does have a lot more weird jap references then most anime.

>is the only good one in the series
Nah. It's the most consistent in quality overall perhaps, pretty much all the best individual arcs happen after Bake though.

Hell even being "the most consistent" in a series as hit-or-miss as this doesn't mean much. Suruga Monkey's the only actually good full arc in Bake, the rest are like Shinobu Time (using this example because it's one that's talked about a fair bit for this sorta thing) where it has one or two memorable scenes with everything else about it being weak.

I enjoyed it, but yeah I felt like I was missing out on a bunch of stuff when I got through

If you don't like it now, then it's probably time to stop. Or try to get to the Suruga arc if you really want to give it a shot.

>it doesnt really make sense

There's only one pun per arc, and you're listening to it, not reading it

And in any case, Crab and Snail are the only arcs based on puns

Why watch something you don't enjoy?

Koyomi BD when?

It's overrated shit. Don't bother.

Only fedoras like it

If you don't like it yet I don't think it's for you, user. Just live your life.

If you don't like it by now you'll probably never like it, sorry.

cool opinion dawg just drop it

>I'm going to go ahead and make a thread having watched like 8 episodes
just end it all OP

sssssssss

>He's watched almost 3 hours of show
>Not enough to make a thread about it says autism-kun.

i want to take a snake

It's something you'll love or hate.

If you hate it then you're an idiot with bad taste and can't take the dialogue

Today, actually.

>When does Bakemonogatari get good?

rips when

>he actually enjoys "hey guys tell me if I should like this show" threads

I think it's more the irony that in the time it takes to make a thread, wait for replies, and then decide whether to keep watching based on those replies, you could have just watched the reaminder of the season and fucking decided for yourself.

sssssubsss when ssss.....

>There's only one pun per arc
There one in just about every line of dialogue. Just because you didn't realize that from the sub's doesn't mean they weren't there.

Snail arc (primarily for crab) and date night are the two best things about the first season. Cat arc is a close third.

For reference, I believe snail is best girl, but love all of them. Except snake, she can die in a fire. Cute though.

>When does Bakemonogatari get good? I just finished the Mayoi Snail arc and honestly I'm finding the series to be insufferable, yet I've heard great things about it. Does it get better, or am I doomed to dislike it forever?

If you didn't find the first 3 episodes enjoyable, then I'm afraid you won't be interested in the rest of the series.

You've seen what it is, 80% dialogue and 20% action. This breakdown of how the show plays out is polarizing in itself, so it's not surprising to hear you ended up on the negative side.

Sorry man.

Nah Hitagi Crab is one of the best arcs for sure but you need more than three episodes to find out if you like this anime. It's different than most and it would be ignorant to give it so little time to see if you like it. OP needs to watch the whole season.

>Nah Hitagi Crab is one of the best arcs for sure but you need more than three episodes to find out if you like this anime.

OP found the series insufferable so far. If you didn't like the first 3 episodes, what would make your opinion change in the next 12 episodes?

The monogatari series has a very surreal presentation that is off-putting to a lot of casual anime fans. I guarantee OP hasn't even paid attention to the plot because he's too busy thinking the series is pretentious. I only mean that if he can past that, he'll get what people love about the series.

>80% dialogue and 20% action

Actually this.

Its all about the story, and the story is all about the characters, their personality and traits, and most of all, their flaws.

Every character is very different from the others, and each arc explores a very different theme. If you have only seen two if the character arcs, you are missing out on three more featuring a very different set of circumstances and interactions with our half-vampire protagonist.

Still, the presentation is still roughly the same throughout the series, even in future seasons, so it all depends what OP disliked about it: the characters that OP has seen, or the presentation.

>tfw just binged all the way to owari in the past three days
this show is so fucking great it hooked me in good

Grow up, come back and watch it again. It's 2deep4u

Make sure you watched all of the aired monogataries

>This breakdown of how the show plays out is polarizing in itself
But it's also something that people pretty frequently change their minds about later. It's worth giving another shot in a few months if you didn't like it the first time.

Eh, I'd say more like five episodes for Bake since they're missing some really good scenes with Hachikuji if they stop at episode three.

>I just finished the Mayoi Snail arc and honestly I'm finding the series to be insufferable
I'm sorry user, but it seems your shit taste is terminal

That's a bit redundant.

>Araragi didn't smash this
He could have avoided so much trouble if he just dicked the crazy out of her

I don't think her crazy COULD be fucked out of her desu

I hated it at first but then it got me good. Its my first Shaft anime so I'm pretty pleased with it. The art style is good, animation is nice, and the rapid cuts I hated at first but grew on me eventually.

It's balanced enough by the funny moments and the serious ones. Also has one of the best OSTs in general.

>snakefags in charge of paying attention
Nadeko didn't want the D. She wanted Araragi to be her pure, out of reach husubando forever.

If you don't like it by now, you won't like the rest of it. Don't waste your time.

Honestly nothing ever happens in this show and it's all about watching your favorite characters talk on and on for 20 minutes. Fortunately the characters are likable to many people, but if you are not interested in them then monogatari is going to be miserable.

You've already gotten a general idea for the presentation, and you're going to get more of it from here on out.

For some people, this shit's like crack. For others, it's just kinda dull and pretentious-seeming. Sounds like you're in the latter camp.

>nothing ever happens in this show
Plenty happens. It's just- well done- drama instead of shounen battles.

c-cute
Lucky user, I got to monogatari 2nd season in the past couple of weeks. I wish I could binge ;_;
Like other anons have said, the show really stands with its characters and dialogue. when I first watched, after monkey I got a feel for the overall presentation of the show, so you should at least watch up until there to see if it's for you. Nise was pretty gud but tiger arc is where I feel it really started to shine

Make sure you don't forget the commentaries. They're just as good as the main show.

Oh do you mean the PV's that come with the BDs?

No. I mean the alternate audio tracks for each episode. Nisio wrote the script for them. They're fantastic. Only Bake has full translations, but you can find a couple episodes of Nise and one of SS.

Alright sweet thanks my man

It's shit. I'm actually insulted when people praise this as being a masterpiece.

Is there one of second season? I thought it was only Bake, some of Nise and one of Owari.

Why does she wear the bandaid? I'm being completely serious. Was this in the LN?

The first episode of Koi is translated. It's basically a full episode of Ougi ragging on Hanekawa.

It wasn't in the LN. One of them makes a joke about it later though. She has a bandaid in the anime because the character designer/animation director has a bandaid fetish. I'm not even kidding.

God bless SHAFT.

But he could have destroyed that illusion of hers.
With his dick.

Yah nah. Unless you read at a fifth grade level and don't really understand how puns work you shouldn't have any trouble understanding or enjoying the entire monogatari series. If you don't like it because you're having trouble with it's complex use of language then that's your problem.

Wew, that perfectly captures the tone of the series and lewd-ifies it.

If you don't like to read you won't like this, it's that simple.

it doesn't. you fell for the Monogatari meme.

>calmly staying on the straight and narrow with Snake
>instantly transitioning between thinking about molesting snail and this

Fucking Araragi

>monkey is the best girl

ftfy. also crab isn't even in the top 3 mate

What a god.

If they were to fuck, wouldn't it be just intense masturbation?

If you consider selfcest to be masturbation, then yes.

it's shit

Eh, I'm not convinced.

I suppose. I've never encountered a story like this so I wouldn't know what to say.

>I hated it at first but then it got me good. Its my first Shaft anime so I'm pretty pleased with it.

Did you hate the show and then stop for a month or so. Or did the show click with you as you were watching it?

Anyone got that guide for the order of the TV shows?

>you will never give snail eskimo kisses
>you will never blow raspberries on donut vampire's belly
God is real he just hates us.

Watch everything backwards

I've watched the series, I just want the picture

...

The first arc of Nisemonogatari is even worst, i was really mad at it

We'll be releasing Nisemonogatari Episode 3 soon, just need edit, we found a new translator

Also there's a drive with the list of commentaries: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11LCCapL3dOrS6OXxJKh-6fULWVMii1XsLX3UDsRi1mQ/edit?usp=sharing

How much of the monogatari series have been adapted into anime?

has been*

Most of the main storyline. We're just waiting for Kizu and Owari to be finished.

Other than that, it's the Off Season which may or may not be important and may or may not get adapted.

Everything except 2 thirds of kizu, owari book 3 and zokuowari for the main story. The rest are side stories that probably won't be adapted.

Nice. Glad to hear that things are rolling again.

I'm still pissed at Crab for calling me a lolicon.

Basically this

>owarimonogatari
>end story
>it's not the end

??????

I watched the whole series a while ago and it feels like the series misses something but i can't point out what.
Maybe it solves with the movies.

Time travel arc is in my opinion the highlight of the series.

and is the arc that skipped the most

It would really be the highlight if Shaft left more Araragi and Shinobu banter in instead of rushing through the plot.

You should read the novel, they cut out a ton of shit.
>"When it comes to little girls, it's got to be about the collarbone and ribs."

It's almost July and I still can't find any new Pachimonogatari teasers. Has the streak finally ended?

>tfw araragi and hitagi's relationship is so sparsely shown I want to see more
God damn you Isin!
