I have lived in Argentina for 25 years, and while the country itself is gorgeous and the people are among the nicest and funniest you'll ever meet, its economy leaves a lot to be desired. Chile has a much better economy going, and the weather is basically the same.

From what I've read, Chile is in overall better shape than Argentina is, economy-wise That being said, you can actually live and work legally in Argentina within 6 months, no more work visa needed, and you can keep your SA citizenship if you choose to become an Arg. citizen. Ushuaia is not the only place in Argentina where it snows. Bariloche is a ski resort mountain town with lots of service industry jobs, and so is Las Leñas, far up there in the Andes in the Mendoza province.
