I'm not an expert but, I imagine it's because doing quality CGI here and there for shorter segments is feasible, but when you make entire episodes CGI it's not going to look good unless you have an insane budget. Safe to say this doesn't.

No, just watch the first minutes of SSS, where the Major is on top of those cranes. They did an outstanding job with that scene and it's all CGI, you can hardly believe it's from 2005.

No, I never cared about manga that never end. I just wanted to know what Berserk is so overhyped about with minimum effort in a form that a have some form of proper ending which are the anime versions.
I liked the production values, hated everything else.

You would be wrong. doing 100% CG anime is feasible today. They don't look as good as high-budget normal anime, but they generally look better than QUALITY anime.

The problem with berserk is a combination of
>no-name studios with limited experience
>low budget
>trying too many incompatible things at once (anime style, manga pencil lines, textured armor)
>material that does not play to CG's strengths

Guts entire theme is he is somewhat humane but likes to pretend he doesn't care basically a tsundere.
But then he gets in a fight vs a inhuman demonic entity and flips out like a madman and kills it in the most painfully brutal way.

The entire theme of the manga is no matter how horrible the monsters are its nothing compared to how scare pissed of humans are.
