>Pillows is back
>Haruko is back

I am beyond hype right now

Threadly reminder that the original isn't going anywhere and there is no reason whatsoever to get autistic about this happening.

>Pillows is back
This is the only thing that matters to me.

>hype

>I am beyond hype
Don't be. FLCL is a 6 episode series with a very powerful and deliberate conclusion, something which would only be retroactively weakened by the mere existence of a continuation.

It will still be shit. But like says, what's a shit sequel in the scheme of things? Oh well. There are other things to watch.

go back to gaia

Looking forward to thiseven though I am sure nothing can top the original OVA. I was worried about it having 12 episodes but since they are split into 2 seasons it might be fine.

Of all the things that don't need a sequel this is the one that doesn't need one the most.

>pillows return
Maybe this whole thing isn't a complete joke. I'll probably just listen to the OST and nothing else though.
FLCL should never of had a sequel. It's fucking sacrilegious.

but

what if it's _____________________good________________________________________________________?

At best it can be Diebuster done right. At worst it will be a bad Diebuster.
Like Gunbuster FLCL NEVER needed a sequel. To even have one is insulting and just tarnishes its good name.

FUCK the new FLCL

It won't be. The greatest chance it has is feeling shoehorned in. It's completely unnecessary.

I can hear your many chins wobbling furiously

But user, Diebuster is better than Gunbuster.

It can't be. Having Haruko and Naota meet up again is inconsistent with the themes of the whole original series, and having it be about different characters makes it pointless for it to be called FLCL.

Even if it turns out good, Sup Forums will still hate it because it's backed by Toonami and liked by "insert boogeymen here"

Same thing happened to Space Dandy

Wow. My faith is slightly restored.

It's confirmed to have a different MC, this time it's a girl, in a new town.

Haruko is a new teacher at her school.

can Based Mayumi pull off the Haruko voice, though

see, the problem with this is that you are acting like an autist

we know NOTHING about the new FLCL, except for what's in the OP, which is only positive

and idiots like you are already screaming "IT'S BAD BECAUSE IT'S NEW"

if you assume automatically that it'll be shit, you'll still say it's shit even if it turns out to be amazing

you'll shotpost and say it's shit no matter what because you think that's what cool people do on Sup Forums

if it comes out and turns out to be shit, then you can freely call it shit; but dissing something that hasn't even come out is just plain fucking retarded

2 months ago Sadamoto didn't even know he was going to be part of the project.

Please be back, please be back, please be back.

>this time it's a girl
Will it be /u/?

It's not bad because it's new. It's a bad decision because the first series didn't need to be continued. The sequel isn't going to feel natural.
Aside from the OP, we also know that it's going to have a completely new protagonist. This is a poor decision, too. Then again, having Naota return as protag would also be poor, since it would go against the themes of the previous work. So, if it turns out to be amazing, I'll be surprised. But I won't shit on it.
Also, you type like a retard.

No, you are beyond normalshit.
>>>facebook

>The sequel isn't going to feel natural.

>if you assume automatically that it'll be shit, you'll still say it's shit even if it turns out to be amazing
Some anons undoubtedly will, but that's not a guarantee. I'll be very happy if it turns out to be unexpectedly great, but that doesn't change the fact that it will be unexpected if it is great.

>It's confirmed to have a different MC, this time it's a girl, in a new town.
Okay, that's good.
>Haruko is a new teacher at her school.
-and that isn't.

I don't know if it'll be shit but I'm confident that the threads will be.

Why is it stupid, user?

>I can't even see straight anymore
Well, the sequel involves a girl MC and Haruko, it can't be straight.

The original wasn't even that good.

Even if it's good everyone will still find a way to complain about it like a fucking manchild
Whatever though. If you enjoy it, then enjoy it

because there is no such thing as "natural" in media

by that logic, every sequel for any anime!series/cartoon/movie/whatever that was realased more than 5 years after the original is shit because "it doesn't feel natural"

>because there is no such thing as "natural" in media
Yes there is. Your inability to understand a word's definition doesn't erase that definition from existence.

What people are saying is that the original of FLCL was clearly not designed with a sequel in mind as you can tell by its conclusive ending. At best, a good FLCL will be merely a spiritual sequel that feels separate to the original story. At worst, it'll leech off of the original and wear out its welcome.

A sequel that 'feels natural' is one that seamlessly flows on from the previous story, while one that 'feels unnatural' has some jarring and/or immersion-breaking distinction from it.

This is an excellent post.

Are you dense? It has nothing to do with how much time has passed, it has to do with how conclusive the ending to the original was.

The Tenchi Muyou OVAs started coming out in the 90s and people are still waiting for the next ones. A sequel is natural.
Madoka came out in 2011 and one of the major complaints people had about Rebellion, which came out in 2013, is that the series didn't need a sequel because it was already finished.

Do you understand the difference?

Threadly reminder that shit eating retards like you are the reason shitty unnecessary sequels happen

>no adult naota and ninamori
>no canti

Shit tier

It's pretty obvious why she's a teacher. She's searching for the next NO channel, and it seems like kids that go through the trauma of growing up have the best NO channels

Diebuster fucked over Gunbuster's ending. They didn't remember them after all those years, they remembered because some autistic robo girl did some shit a few years prior to them returning

Even if it ends up decent it'll still be a completely pointless turd on a perfect conclusion. I'm already used to people shitting on the things I like, though.

I'm kinda worried because they'll probably just license parts of the second half of the Pillows' discography and its honestly not that great.

You sound like a Berserk fan

Don't remind me. The citizens of the Earth remembered them dammit.

>no Canti

"But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot ‘Canti’ go?"

I always thought it was bullshit that they remembered so I approved of this.

Space Dandy was shit by itself, no Toonami needed.

Same
A lot of shit happens over 10,000 years. Bigger and more memorable heroes probably cropped up in that time.

Diebuster only made Gunbuster's ending better for me.

Might be cool. Not going to get over hyped or completely dismiss it like an idiot.

...

Will the girl spawn robots from her vagina?

That's a good thing though. Their stories are finished.

>implying people will remember two soldiers from 12000 years ago

it didn't make any fucking sense to begin with

>What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota?
Is this something anyone is eager to find out?

Look user they need to find any scrap of "unresolved" shit to milk a sequel out of.

Gotta fill Season 3 with something.

>people wouldn't remember 2 people who literally saved the human existence
We are talking about people who dug shit in the sand 2-3 thousand years ago

I think the only way it could retroactively ruin the original is if adult Naota is in it and he's a loser like Amaro.

THIS.

Can dl the new ost but fuck the anime

wtf are you retarded hahahaha

the story of Naota being closed doesn't mean the story of the FLCL universe is closed

FLCL's main storyline revoled around a kid from Earth, but Haruko, Atomsk, Amaro, and the Medical Mechanica are from another fucking plane

I've always been curious about their background story and universe, and I'm really glad that they are expanding on it, because it had a lot of potential

FLCL is highly allegoric. Haruko, Atomsk, Amaro, and the Medical Mechanica are not from "another plane" they are from a kid's imagination. They don't have a 'background story' beyond that. If this sequel will try to explore them in any other way it'll fail.

As someone who imported the original DVDs back in 2000/2001, I'm hype.

I'm aware it might not be as good as the original, but I try not to be a jaded fuck. FLCL is back, it's good news.

well that's just your interpetation
