The Shooting Got Me Thinking

What is the point of life if we all end up dying? What is the point of life if there are so many of us?
Obviously we need other people's affection to be mentally healthy, but what is the POINT?

WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY Sup Forums?

Welcome to nihilism

>it took a brainlet a mass shooting to think this
really made me think

>what is the POINT?
To experience

Depends user
If there is no after life then you create the meaning
If there is then life is a massive test to see if you are an asshole and if you pass you get heaven if you fail then you ether take the test again or something else happens

If life is a test for everyone, then why are some people born with disabilities? Why are others more prone to developing mental illness? You'd think that if this was a test it'd be fair.

>Obviously we need other people's affection to be mentally healthy

Evidence? Jesus, Oprah go to bed

I too enjoy Rick and Morty.

t.. this pic can't be real right ?

If you live for the flesh, you will die.
If you become the memes, you can live forever!

It's a wax sculpture, iirc.

Upon death we merge with the Unity Consciousness, and a while later are ejected back into the human realm from the Ground Being.

>what is the point of life if we all end up dying?

So that someone is there to ask the question. You are a shitpost, but it's better than no post.

The point is to build on what was given to us by our parents, and pass it onto our children. We live on through our genetics, so it makes sense to make sure our descendants have it as good as possible. If you live for now and fail at these responsibilities, then you’re an evolutionary dead end.

age until you can reproduce, reproduce, die, your offspring repeat.

>taking the black pill
You might as well suck nigger cock you fucking gimp

The point is to impeach BLUMPF

There is basically two philosophies if you think there IS a point
A) it is our purpose to treat each other well and let us have a fulfilling and rewarding life. Most religions center on this
B) it is our purpose to leave as much of an impact on future generations as we can, via children, scientific advancement, political achievements, charity, etc. Most non religious believe this
Those who don't think there is a point basically become hedonists, believing that since nothing matters, you do what you want.

Read the bible with an open-mind from cover to cover and fast to meditate upon it and things become clearer.

Your just a cluster of tetraheadrons

heh

There is a God. But he is a cruel and unforgiving God that is indifferent to our suffering because we will never live up to his virtue. Life is about overcoming your envy and spite for him. Choke on that redpill fag.

>What is the point of life if there are so many of us
To carry the torch

would trade my soul for night with a girl like that good lord

life's an MMO

God gets bored knowing everything, so he plays LIFE as us to entertain himself.

For billions and billions of years the universe has been in motion, evolving. From rapid expansion to formation of matter to the coalescence of galaxies and stars and planets. Our planet was barren and rocky, and was shaped , life grew out of the ooze, first small then larger. Plants came and then larger beings. Those beings gave rise to neurological systems and finally to mankind.

The point of the entire universe, a cold empty place with tiny islands of various arrangements of matter and elements and chemicals, was to give birth to a thing which could experience the universe. In other words, the point is not that your life matters (it doesn't, because "you" are just a construct of your ego) but that you are the universe experiencing itself.

If that's too much to start with, start smaller. Take a flower for instance. Is it not a miracle that such a small and fragile thing is so beautiful? What's the point of a flower? To make more flowers? To feed insects? All of those things are true but the POINT of a flower is to be a beautiful thing and for a conscious little speck of the universe (like you) to pick it up and experience it's beauty.

A flower exists to be beautiful. You exist to see the beauty in a flower. You and the flower are the universe , just little blocks arranged in a different fashion. One day it will all go back to nothing but th fact that it arranged itself into anything at all is nice.

My philosophy is to cultivate healthy amounts of stress, love the humanity of which you exist as and just try and make it to the end.

We're here, so we might as well make the best of it.

we do live in nihilism; you just need an optimistic nihilism

>What is the point of life if we all end up dying?
The journey.

>optimistic nihilist
that's called an existentialist.

Except beauty is an egotistical construct, the universe doesn't care what you think.

I feel like life is something crawling through all the cracks in the world, scratching and clawing for breath like a rampant disease.

If things like flowers, exist for the universe to experience it's "beauty" then why should a maggot who's sole purpose in existence is to dig through newborn babies eyes exist? WOW that is such a GREAT experience, no?

The universe itself is confused af, from all indication and its using life to understand itself because it has no other options it seems, just as we have no other options other than to accept our reality and make the most of it. The universe and life itself is a disgusting prison, so fuck the universe.

exactly; so we're gods

ever play an easy video game, where you pretty much can't die, nor do you need to even really try.

It gets boring pretty quick.

Then there are games where there is challenge, not too much that you rage quit, but enough that you can feel achievement in making progress, the challenge makes it worth something.

the Hindu's apparently believe that life is God hiding, or dreaming, and there are 4 stages of life, the first is the longest, and the best, and it's all good, the second is shorter, and things start to go wrong, the 3rd is shorter again, and good and evil are equally represented, then the 4th is shorter still, and evil dominates over good. And then God (us) wakes up from his hiding or dream, and says thank goodness that was just a dream!

We been shielded from this kind of bullshit by the army and the police.
These shit happens to anyone any days.

The moral of the fact? We could die everyday, so makes every seconds count. The girl you have a crush on could got killed in a car accident the next day, go talk to her, now! Before it's too late

>Obviously we need other people's affection to be mentally healthy
wrong

> What is the point of life if we all end up dying?
In my case, to have fun with the guys. To squeeze enjoyment out of my finite life.

> What is the point of life if there are so many of us?
Dude, our specie is still restricted to inhabiting ONE planet. We're dangerously few.

> Obviously we need other people's affection to be mentally healthy, but what is the POINT?

You're overthinking it. Find yourself a goal, do shit to impress yourself, chill out with people you love / like, let other people live fast, die young, and compete in the rat race.

YOLO, do not waste your one shot at life with stupid shit like this post.

It's not that complicated, but you might want to step off Sup Forums.

I'm sure afterwards you would not regret it

It's a matter of perspective. Reality is subjective to you. Nothing means anything. Like you said it's all random and pointless. Your reality has meaning to you in that it effects you most. Your reality doesn't mean shit to me or most anyone else. It matters to you and it's up to you to enrich your reality. Don't worry about the meaning because their is none.

There is no overarching Point of Life. You are an animal subject to instinctive behavior just as much as you are a discrete, conscious entity capable of speculating about the point of life. That instinctive behavior can guide you, but you still have to continuously find your own motivations and set your own goals. It's okay to look to the thoughts and beliefs of others for inspiration, but life is not a puzzle with a set solution, and you will always have to adapt to the endlessly changing circumstances around you.

You don't just need people around to dole out affection either, it's important to have people who know you well and who you can trust - in terms of judgment as well as integrity. Only you can determine what to do with your life, but it's not always easy to be honest with yourself, and it helps to have people who can remind you who you are and where you've been going.

Maintain possession of your mind and self as much as you can. We live in dishonest times and there is much to be gained by making you act against your own interests. Seek original sources and be wary of commentary. Anyone who would position themselves as a gatekeeper before you is your opponent, if not your enemy. Cultivate an awareness of power, know when you have it, and more importantly know when others have it over you.

I suppose you could subscribe to one "comprehensive" ideology or another. Perhaps we'd accomplish more or live more efficiently if everyone agreed on one. History tells us that's never going to fucking happen - that ideologies, like civilizations, rise and fall like ships on ocean waves. We all sail on them but that's no excuse to forget how to swim.

PS. Hail Eris.

If she's south African imagine how many times she's fucked niggers already. Gross dude.
