What is the point of reading Berserk anymore?
How did we go from a gritty, dark fantasy tale to a JRPG plotline involving elves and a harem of loli witches all craving for the Gattsu dick? Even Guts himself barely does anything at this point.

I actually really like that about berserk. Gutts is getting to be a old man so he's naturally losing some of his edge which is something I don't think I ever seen a fantasy do.
I still enjoy it, it's gone from a 10/10 to a 8/10 at worst. That said, it's lost almost all sense of 'urgency'. I'm not impatient to see anything happen, I don't feel all anxious with anticipation like I do for, say, HxH during the hiatuses. I think it's just hit a lull in the plot build up, I'm sure it will get more intense eventually.
Either to see everything that Guts reattained get destroyed and go out in a blaze of glory, or to see a man whose life and destiny shat on constantly achieve happiness instead of giving up.
I'm for the latter, gotta hope that the will to survive will lead to something better

Each day I lose some hope of any of us here seeing Berserk's ending.
I didn't start read Berserk because of the edge(I actually felt it was way too mindless at the start), what kept me reading Berserk was being interested in the story and characters.
Miura moving away from mindless edge just shows he's way too old to think like a 15 year old kid wanting to draw bloody combat, he knows that what makes the battles interesting is not blood, but what's at stake.
That's funny considering Berserk is a lot less interesting right now.

I also dislike the direction the art is taking; that moustache knight looks more One Piece than Berserk, and I have a bad feeling the mermaid waifu is the first in the technicolor hair parade; neither of those things are bad per se, I just don't think they mesh at all with the tone of Berserk.
My only hope is that it's all due to the planes intersecting and we'll return to the older art style after shit in Gryffithdor finally goes south.

But that's the problem, friendo. Most of the time you don't feel any stakes or tension in any of the latter fights.
I mostly blame Isidro and Puck being present. Each time Puck makes a joke or Isidro gets in le quirky comedy combat mode you know shit is gonna be another inconsequential, beautifully drawn but shallow fight.
Miura needs to get rid of most of the party in some way or another. Most of them are just comedy relief clowns that do nothing but make Guts fade into the background for most of the chapters.
I felt the tension during the fight with the Sea God and Daiba. Now the other guys have it easy compared to Guts. Someone's going to grab that Behelit and Guts might end up killing one of the members of the Godhand to send a message.

Oh no, he was the edgiest motherfucker on the planet at one point. But not only was it completely reasonable considering the context, it was really the only logical response a man like him would have to the indescribable clusterfuck of vileness and horror that had been dumped right on his fucking head. And even with all of that taken into consideration the fact that he was able to maintain that last little tattered scrap of humanity in his darkest hours speaks volumes of his sheer fortitude, and because of it he's finally begun to heal. Guts and Berserk in general is or rather was outstandingly edgy, and also fucking amazing. The pacing is mostly different due to Miura's release schedule. Elfheim was exactly as described by Puck, but only Guts has to worry about urgency. You can tell when the characters are protected in the manga like Jill. That wasn't her and she's not dead.

That's been the goal since the beginning, but he has to knock Guts down to low lows before it happens. Right now Guts is at a high point in his miserable life. I'd say the plot's been advancing at a decent pace, especially recently. Griffith just recently achieved his dream of having his own kingdom, something that he's been pursuing since the very first volumes and pretty much the cause of everything that's happened in the manga. That, and Casca's about to get her memories back.
