Best modern remake of an old anime possible. I wish they'd do Harlock too.

It's pretty great. Easily among the best anime released in the last 10 years.

It's also a far better space opera than any Gundam ever made.

I thought it was good

Id like to see the team do other Leiji updates

How is it possible that fucking Xebec made it?

Great OST

youtube.com/watch?v=C3un2ju7e1M

It was amazing. Remakes of old anime are almost always bad or tepid. Yamato 2199 was actually really good, as it took the things that made Yamato great back then and added more modern elements to it.

It amazing.

Because Xebec is good? In case you didn't realize, every mecha/space anime on that list is good to great except for the second season of Lagrange.

Wish the ending was done differently

Pretty good. Lots of nice ass shots.

amazing desu

it's good 8/10

I marathoned that shit in three days.

Like unnecessary girls that add nothing instead of focusing on the guys like the original?
Sanada is awesome in the original.

Sanada is awesome here too, and Yuki is an actual character unlike in the original.

It's also devoid of filler.

It's a very solid show, but the contrived last two episodes, made to evoke cheap feelz. ruined it for me.

>ruined it for me
Kill yourself.

I liked it, but I'm a faggot who never watched the original. Well a few episodes of that starblazers dub maybe, but that hardly counts.

Not everyone has tolerance for LN level writing, especially when it could be easily avoided.

I now understand where Homeworld got a lot of its ideas from

Have you seen their To Love-Ru Darkness adaptions?

>space battleship yamato
>to love ru: darkness
wat

Except that most of those shows are good though?

Anime of the decade. When the hell does S2 release?

Finished binge-watching it today. Call me a faggot if you want, but the last few episodes played my heartstrings like a fucking violin. Also,

>TFW no second season

I think there was a movie sequel comming up.

If you are talking about Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2202 it's a full series scheduled for 2017, as far as I understand.
I wouldn't mind another movie tho. The movie was good, battle drums in space and shit.

Yes, they're trash. To Love-Ru in general is complete trash though.

Why is another series being made? It really doesn't need one.

This ost is truly entertaining.

>the same studio can make two anime that aren't the same
What a shocker.

nah its probably one of the few examples of how to do an adaption properly.

Because they felt like it and their financial department agreed. And "it doesn't need one" is kind of a silly argument for 2199 of all things - no one is going to argue that Yamato needed a remake in the first place, but it got one and it was great.

I liked it.

It was good
Can't wait for Yamato 2202 this winter

Based Xebec.

Fantastic remake.

The girls are gorgeous.

And I want to rape the aliens.

best girl
pic rel

There's a movie too
nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=760512

No, remaking it was perfectly viable considering the original's flaws. It's not like it damages the original in any way either.

Continuing a story that's been wrapped tight certainly can damage the story. The only reason they're continuing it is because the japanese jews want to make some coin.

How can one soundtrack be so good?

youtube.com/watch?v=cVfNQijCiSo

I have the movie OST lying around if someone is interested.
I can't find it on nyaa or youtube.

>Continuing a story that's been wrapped tight certainly can damage the story
Not really, it can just make a new bad story.
Again, you're complaining about a franchise that's had like ten sequels and a remake with its own sequels getting another sequel to that remake. You've missed the bus a long time ago.

>ten sequels
and they're all trash.

Surprised there are people like yourself here who are stupid enough to believe sequels are never a bad thing.

It seems this thread is full of retards.
It's having a second season because the original had one too. There's still a lot of the original yamato story to remake.

Fucking amazing and a perfect example of a remake done right. 10/10 ost too
youtube.com/watch?v=WJILhqIJ0S4 .

>CG animation
Nothing makes me lose interest quicker.

Only the ships are CG and it's not that bad.

Robots are people too.

It's bad but if you give it a chance, you should get used to it.

The story is still top tier.

This.

Yamato 2199 is one of the few anime that deserve a 10/10 rating.

It did everything right.

Except the ending.

Might as well find another hobby, because pretty much all series nowadays have CGI

Because the original had 3 seasons.

That's not true. That's impossible.

Like what?

>inb4 bee episode

Did the original extend past them returning to earth with the cosmo reverse module and okita dead?

>Yamato FINAL
>bad

Were you in coma or something for the past 5 years?

>a few shows here and there use CG for background characters and panning
>hurr durr all shows now use CG
No motherfucker, that isn't the same as using CG 100% for action scenes. CG isn't as prevalent as you act like it is.

Actually yeah look up Yamato 2 and Yamato 3

The first season ends just like the remake, in the other seasons the story continues. I also hear that the remake took elements from the other seasons.

For mech/sci fi shows it is, before you go "moving the goalposts", I'm not him and he's a fucking retard, but within the genre it is more often than not cgi.

That's sad. Many old mech shows had excellent animation that I always looked forward to seeing.

So because you don't like the sequels (which is kind of bizarre, some of them are very good), you think it's pointless moneygrubbing for the remake to cover them? That seems like an oddly aggressive view.

Best space sub captain.

>So because you don't like the sequels
Never said that, but thank you for confirming your stupidity.

I still have to finish the last 3-4 episodes that I was waiting on being released and then never got around to when they were.

You called?

Also Martians best girls

I want to interrogate the alien, if you know what I mean.

Blue>brown this is a fact.

Magical space tits and a black hole ass
It was never a competition

They did.
...and FAILED.

The visuals were top tier, great CGI.
It's just the story that lacked.

I don't get the hate for that movie.

Dem erect nipples.

because blatant MUH NIPPON STRONK?

in real life Yamamoto is sinked by enemy, this anime the Yamamoto literary safe in one piece and comandereed by gary stu captain.

I agree everyone is dissapointed because they expect Yamamoto doing noble sacrifice instead a gary stu happy end

Well?

Mad kimchi detected.

>Manga version is more funny and have more fan service (and show nipples)
WHY??

If the anime had more fan service people would shit on it.
Also, budget.

>No Yuki pantsu in remake
;_;

We wanted a story about Space Pirate Harlock. We got a cliche story about literally who brothers.

Is the manga translated?

...

It was alright, I never got though why it was so Nationalistic, both it and the new one, and then has the enemy Is totally not Germany even though Japan was allied with Germany though, whatever.

Japan has sailed in space?
And stop with 'YamaMOto', retard. The Yamato was simply glorious. Like the Zero fighter. There is even an american WW2 veteran who had the chance to fly one in Japan recently.

japantoday.com/category/national/view/zero-fighter-to-fly-above-japan-once-more-in-demonstration-this-week

>and then has the enemy Is totally not Germany
They're not.

I'm still undecided if this or EVA has the best anime OP of all time

I want to explore her cavities, if you know what I mean.

I thought they were pretty blatant space Nazis but if you say so.

There's always room in my list for well-executed anime and Eva and 2199 are both in them.

>Beach episode
>IN SPACE

...

They look like they're on a planet there actually.

great doujins

Strike Witches did it better.

Your screens look off, they have a greenish tone.

>handsome guys and hot chicks
>spend one year together in one space tin
>no one got pregnant

what a bullshit

>strike witches
>better than anything
