Is self-improvement political?

All right, Sup Forums, let's have it out.

This thread is for the discussion of political theory. Particularly this question:
>is self-improvement a political topic?

I think it is because the soul is a microcosm of the state.

As Plato writes in The Republic:
>Well then, we are surely compelled to agree that each of us has within himself the same parts and characteristics as the city? Where else would they come from? It would be ridiculous for anyone to think that spiritedness didn't come to be in cities from such individuals as the Thracians, Scythians, and others who live to the north of us who are held to possess spirit, or that the same isn't true of the love of learning, which is mostly associated with our part of the world, or the love of money, which one might say is conspicuously displayed by the Phoenicians and Egyptians."

If you think self-improvement is not political, you have limited Sup Forums to certain political theories.

If the state has no connection to the soul, if it exists only to protect against external threat, sickness, and want, then Sup Forums is a liberal board. Sup Forums is a Social Contract board or worse. If we are corporatists, if we are communitarians, we must believe that there is a link between the soul and the state. But if we can't discuss self-improvement on Sup Forums, then we cannot understand the nature of the state from these perspectives. We can only see the state from liberal, that is, post-Hobbes positions. In which case Sup Forums is now Politically Correct. You can argue from the right, but only the cuckservative right. This right doesn't even deserve the capital R.

Fuck that. Is the best state a drugfree state or a stoner state? Is it a wrestling state or a Crossfit state? Is it a vegetarian state or a meat-eating state? Can fatties make good decisions, or only /fit/bros? How must a good citizen be educated?

What must WE become in order to be good citizens? And HOW do we do it without being /bant/ished?

you're right. bump

>mfw mods kill /sig/

bump

>its afraid

Why wouldnt it be political, i wonder....

>mods not wanting Sup Forumstards to improve themselves

what did they mean by this?

You know what they meant. A Sup Forumslack who spends his entire day on Sup Forums may be radicalized and redpilled, but he will never pose a threat to anyone as a weakling shut-in. Imagine you're a part of a think-thank tasked with fighting right-wing radicalization of youth, would it be more useful to somehow limit their access to Sup Forums and give them more free time (while they keep all of their political positions) or would it be wiser to keep them here while selectively sanitizing elements you've deemed dangerous (like self-improvement generals)?

They meant that maybe if we just stopped being so judgmental and hateful maybe we'd see that the state has nothing to do with the soul and just exists to be a great mother suckling us and catering to our every whim. Because that's politics.

isn't politics. Politics is about tax % and gibs %. Nothing else. Protip: taxes and gibs should be increased. Wouldn't want to oppress now

More like this belongs on fit and isn't political at all?

Well said. They're treating the place as a goddamn containment board. /esg/ and /sig/ involve the shift from theory to praxis. We know what's up and now we're doing something about it.

Mods, I hope your hearts are in the Right place. I hope you really want this board to be a place for political discussion. But political discussion among human beanbags vaping at their battle stations is no political discussion at all. We need to become something better. We need to shitpost, then go lift, talk to people IRL, and be men against Time. /sig/ helps us do that.

And if you want the end, you must also want the means. Pic fukken rel8ed

/fit/ mods don't allow /sig/ threads as well because of the reading and spiritual components
/sig/ spans the topics of multiple boards by it's very nature and the only place it could conceivably fit by the rules is /bant/ and Sup Forums. We're better off with the first option.

Should we lift or run?

Should we eat animals or plants?

Do you think marathoners and powerlifters, with their different bodies, have the same souls?

Do you think vegetarians and omnivores, with their different physical inputs, different vitamin profiles, different hormonal profiles think the same?

Do you think states composed of each of these groups would turn out the same? How WOULD they turn out? And which would be best?

And of course, HOW do we get to the best? Sup Forums has to be a place for praxis AND theory if it is to be truly political. Without praxis "political" talk is really monk-talk, just empty words we use to produce /comfy/ feels in our heads.

And if the individual has no duty to conform himself to the ideal social order, THAT is a political statement. THAT is a limit on what Sup Forums can be ideologically and it pretty much rules out any politics from before the dawn of Liberalism in the 17th century.

UMA DELICIA

/bant/ and Sup Forums are not real boards; they're shitholes. Everyone knows that right-wing men are the ones interested in ascesis. Everyone knows Sup Forums is the board for right-wing men. I don't want to hang out with Sup Forums; I want to hang out with Sup Forums.

>/sig/ is one thread out of a fuckin hundred

which almost always have duplicates, triplicates, quadruplicates, slide threads, etc. /sig/ is a fuckin bulwark against shit/pol/. WE ARE FRIENDS, NOT ENEMIES. Ffs mods, we're talking about ONE /sig/ at a time. ONE. It improves the board because it improves the Sup Forumsacks. And to keep beating this horse, which I might have killed by now,
>the soul is the state
and improving ourselves will always be a part of politics.

Politics, without education! Without physical training! Without diet! ABSURDITY OF ABSURDITIES! These are inherently political topics.

>WE ARE FRIENDS, NOT ENEMIES. Ffs mods, we're talking about ONE /sig/ at a time.
This

self improvement is a major component of American politics and culture. that's what the American dream is. i'd argue that self-improvement is a major force behind capitalism as well. discussing of what you are doing to improve yourself as an individual citizen is on topic.

Glad someone else is in here. /sig/ is extremely popular, maxing out thread after thread but as soon as mods move it to /bant/ everyone disappears.

So that's another point against /bant/ishment. To remove /sig/ from Sup Forums is to kill it when Sup Forumsacks are obviously heavily interested in /sig/.

Please Mods, I beseech you, read me, hear me: /sig/ is good for Sup Forums. You're clearly struggling to keep up with the
>1 post by this ID
threads with porn slags in the OP, so y'all need to refocus y'all energies. /sig/ is infinitely better than the slides and duplicates you're tolerating.

Prove this isn't a containment board. Prove you're not pic related.

Self-improvement is terrorism.

(((Swole))) is not white. Being fit and strong is the ideal too much unfunctional muscle just makes you a tard.

Its so lacking in Europe. I guess its due to soft european nihilism, unlike positive outlook to life americans have that makes the strive for More an authentic task.

I've been in a Sig general thread once, it was surprisingly really good, it even motivated me to do some shit I had to do but wasnt in the mood for. Even if it is totally of topic for this board (wich I think it is not, there are still socio-political discussions in those threads) I would like it to stay. One good (off topic) thread vs 10 bait, shill, slide threads

Self improvement shouldn't be political. It should be the default of any healthy society.

The problem is that we live in a society built on hedonism and instant gratification, where having high time preference is mocked as absurd. This is because the state we live within is fundamentally opposed to self-improvement. The dietary guidlines of the state are unhealthy. The schooling system feeds the hedonist mindset.

I like your name and I agree with the second part but the first is silly! Different states require different citizenries, so self-alteration is always a part of politics. Also your statement contains an assumption about the "healthy society," which is political-theoretical.
