I burn tons of calories at my job, I lift, I'm young, and I'm relatively big. Eating too much fat is not a problem for me; my weight is actually dropping right now and I'm not fat.

Nice. I eat a fair bit of rice and beans between my "good" meals. Budget. Here's a cheap recipe I just made:

Crockpot or simmer low 5 hours. You should be able to shred the chicken with a spatula at the end.

Throw it on a tortilla with rice, shredded cheese, and a scallion. Fantastic. I'm out of tortillas but I think I'll make nachos with it later.

I had a similar thing where I would instead crockpot both the beans and chicken separately, then re-fry the beans, shred the chicken, and mix the two together. I would make a huge batch at once, freeze most of it.

Most of my family is hooked on some kind of soft drink except for me, my uncle, and his family. It pisses me off how companies can get away with selling stuff like that to people. I try to talk them all out of drinking and they usually say that they will, but when I go to dump it all out into the sink, they get all up in arms and try to stop me then go to buy more cans.

I think their problem is more the waste of money from buying the 12 pack than the actual soda itself

eating a healthy diet (learn to cook basic recipes)
meditating (at least 5-10 mins per day)
exercising a couple hours per week
spend less time on idle leisure activities like TV, replace it with something productive
read good books (see pic for a nice philosophy beginners path)
reflect on negative habits, and try to change at least one at a time until you feel like it has improved (i.e. reducing masturbating or smoking from a few times a week to once a week)

I started learning moon around 3 years ago, stopped making progress around a year ago when I started working on my thesis, and now my new job, and started spending my free time learning the piano instead. Can fumble my way through doujins, but that's about it.

For the gym, don't underestimate body weight exercises, which can be done from the comfort of your own home, so you have no excuse. Don't go too hard all at once, or you'll burn out and fall off the wagon. Swap days between upper and lower so you don't risk straining yourself going consecutive days.

Related, in terms of diet, start eating more beans, and more nuts. Replace any junk food you eat with nuts, and you'll be much better off, both in health and in gains. You'll also be less hungry.

I went for a jog for the first time in years yesterday; I'm trying the couch to 5k plan. My legs are still burning, but I think I can keep at it. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

I've been tracking my calorie consumption on my phone. I weigh 210 right now, I'd like to at least get back down to 200, but 180 is my longterm dream .Maybe in the future I'll try keto or some other meme diet, but for now I'll stick with just a simple calorie deficit.

Started trying healthier foods, too. I've been having yogurt with granola for breakfast instead of poptarts. Tonight I made stir fried celery to go with some chicken. Not a huge fan, but I used to never ever touch vegetables, so it's an improvement.
