Practically speaking, a gun made to be fully auto would discharge quickly. And practically speaking, even 23 guns would run out of rounds fast and thus need to reload, especially if you're hitting over 500 people let alone misses. Seeing how he apparently threw them all over the room in the pics, he didn't make it easy to reload. So his lack of practicality makes theories like these plausible, not definitive, but plausible. If he had two or three ARs with bump stocks he could do this. By the time he had finished dumping the third AR's 100rnd mag, the first one would have cooled significantly. He wasn't really firing all that fast anyway. A mag dump, then several minutes, then another mag dump.
Any given AR should have been able to dump 4-5 such 100rnd mags before reliability due to carbon buildup became an issue.
