There seems to be two routes, either works for me.
One is the ancient version still in use in most of the world; we get selected pretty much as slaves and cumdumps in a sort of caste system, get used and then are retired early for menial jobs. Its a living.

The current liberal identity model is insane of course. Its the insanity of egalitarianism, mixed with caste identity. But worse, it includes insane notions of gender relativity while simultaneously removing roles both socially and for the individual. A valid point. Since we have been fairly egalitarian, at least in comparison with more primitive or traditional societies, I would say that we (in the US) followed the more discrete model, where we existed more as relationships than as a particular identifiable group.
In my opinion, that model worked, with perhaps the exception of the Barbary Coast era, which could be argued to be more like the degeneracy of the modern liberal era.
By 'working', I mean the natural abilities of the non breeding individual male gravitated to where they were useful to breeding males in such a way that they were useful and the society worked. The sex itself is rather meaningless, certainly as reproduction of course, if we are going to call it sex at all, but more of an emotional bonding. The sexuality of males is only useful when channeled to some social gain, if not reproduction, than group bonding as in other higher primates, or as we would experience, loyalty through shared discretion. I suppose I cant really make that case for the more traditional societies, where the sex is purely exploitative as with whores. Whether or not a slave class is moral or useful is a different discussion I guess.

I'm not really well versed enough in gay history or the gay question to meet the level of discussion you're bringing. The main conflict I see is how to keep homosexuality out of the public eye without utterly depriving exclusively homosexual men of sex for fear of being persecuted. That sort of repression seems to be what led to gay subculture and the pedophilic "conversion" problem, insofar as the pedophilia isn't just biologically related to the other sexual deviation of homosexuality. Understanding the biological component of exclusive homosexuality would be useful, and maybe it would be a good idea to try to breed it out. They don't reproduce usually though, so it must be coming with some other genetic package.
