It's definitely better on repeat watches, but it also feels a lot less original than the other OPs and reminds me of typical anime OPs. Visuals are god tier though.

Only SDC's 2nd OP had as many hidden messages as the new DiU one.
Part 2's OP was amazing but they werent that subtle at all, literally showing Caesar's death.
In this new OP you can just vaguely see the silhouette of Koichi getting gutpunched by KQ during the bit with Echoes Act 3, it's fucking great.
Avdol and Stroheim randomly appearing out of their time and place in P7 (also why the fuck was Stroheim a cyborg at the time).

It didn't really feel appropriate for p1/2 though, stuff like the OP slowly revealing hints and finally showing the main baddie in action works for stand users, and not so much for pillar men. Its supposed to be a mystery in what the main antagonist's stand power is from p3 onwards

Ever noticed how characters could have a monologue going while another is going in to attack them? That's JoJo time
CGI ops were good because they were done well and the Berserk anime isn't because it isn't done well. People don't like/hate those things just because of the fact that they're CGI. I'm sure people would like the Berserk anime being done with CGI if it was actually well made like the JoJo ops.
But you're right the new OP is the best one.
The difference is that the CGI JoJo OPs looks stylish and actually animate well, while Berserk 2016 looks like an outdated ps1 game.

I don't think that's really a good argument, there's clearly a difference. Berserk just looks janky and bad whereas the OPs are very stylized and refined CGI in a fast-paced style that only really works for a short music video rather than a full episode or series. It's a tool that can be used in better or worse ways.
That said I agree that the new opening isn't inherently inferior for being 2D animated instead, I like both styles and think it holds up completely to what they've done in the past.

There's no reason it shouldn't be canon, it's a better ending to part 5 and fixes so many loose ends including actually giving Fugo CHARACTER.
He didn't use it because Koichi can hard counter it.
