All of them. Most first world governments are run by corrupt, globalist, nepotist, selfish, fat, happy, power-hungry scoundrels that are slowly whittling away our freedoms. They use deceit to stay in power. They are not responsive to and do not really represent their constituents.
Separatist movements keep the elites honest, in check. They force those in power to be responsive to voters and let us retain our freedoms. It also curbs the power of the elites and provides more options to citizens. These movements dis-incentivize corruption and malfeasance because they show there are repercussions for such behavior.
