Catalan Vote Inspires Brazil’s Southern Separatist Movement
>Inspired by the separatist vote in Catalonia, secessionists in three wealthy southern Brazilian states are redoubling their efforts to break away from the crisis-battered nation.
>Residents of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Parana states are being called to vote in an informal plebiscite on Oct. 7 on whether they want independence. Organizers are also urging residents of the three states to sign a legislative proposal for each of their regional assemblies that would call for a formal, binding referendum. The non-profit group "The South is My Country" aims to mobilize a million voters in 900 out of the region’s 1,191 cities.

Few Brazilians expect the current movement to succeed any time soon, not least because it is prohibited by the Constitution. With just one year to go until general elections, the rekindling of separatist sentiment in the south is another indicator of the unsettled state of Brazilian politics.

Unlike the Spanish state Brazil doesn't have any firepower whatsoever to stop it. Hell, even when a group of drug dealers decide to stop the biggest city in Latin America they simply go and fucking do it. Espírito Santo even went full anarchy mode some months ago with the army roaming the streets scared shitless of the druglords. Brazil is on its weakest and it's the perfect moment to call for independence.
Even if they mobilize the army it's going to be the perfect moment for the druglords to mobilize THEIR armies into the cities of Brazil and cause as much havoc as never before seen. Brazil isn't going to be the same either way, it's just too weak.

No, you're not right drug exportation from Colombia started in the 1970s, Colombia was founded in the 1810s. Drug exportation started in places historically out of reach of Bogotá but near from the Caribbean.
