Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage and the socialist stage.
What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

Fascism has a precise definition - total dictatorial rule by the capitalist and landlord classes. In fascist countries like Nazi Germany and Franco's Italy, labor unions were banned and wealth inequality increased (didn't happen in Italy because Mussolini was too incompetent to do even that).
In the USSR, there was no capitalist class, so there could be no fascism.

It's been tried many times, and every time it was extremely successful, lifting millions of people out of poverty, illiteracy, and general misery.
It's why most people in countries who experienced communism/socialism have a positive view of communism/socialism.
Every right-wing dictator, on the other hand, is hated by their own people. For example, Franco is hated by Spaniards, Pinochet by Chileans, etc.

It seems like your definition is extremely vague - if you have any semblance of authoritarianism, you're a fascist. The problem for most post-Soviet states was the autistic (((Washington Consensus))) shock therapy doctrine of deindustrialization following the collapse of Communism. The state has a role to play in protecting and nurturing the most productive sectors because specialization in primary commodities is a sure fire way into poverty.
